Hadleigh United Football Club Sponsored by Hadleigh Tyre Group and Toppesfield Ltd. www.hadleigh-utd.co.uk Ridgeons League Premier Division club Hadleigh United have appointed long-serving treasurer Rolf Beggerow as acting chairman. Beggerow’s previous spell in the chair, in 2004, saw Hadleigh win The Suffolk Senior Cup by beating Long Melford at Portman Road. The position has been vacant since Ken Ramsey stood down last December. Hadleigh’s first two home pre-season friendlies against Brightlingsea and Southen Manor have both been called off to allow the recently turfed Millfield goalmouths more time to settle. Manager Stuart Crawford said he hopes the club will arrange two away games instead. Other friendlies, all at home, sees Chelmsford City at the Millfield on Tuesday 19th July and Soham on Saturday 23rd. Team Bury will be entertained on Wednesday 27th before Tilbury pay a visit to the Millfield on Saturday 30th and Leiston on Tuesday 2nd August. Any additions or alterations will be posted on the club website. Pre-season friendlies for the Reserves and Ridgeons Youth Team will also be on the website. Hadleigh United Briefs Hadleigh United supporters will be missing two old favourites this coming season as Captain Duane Wright has signed for Needham Market and keeper Aaron Benstead has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent so he can join a club nearer his home in Southend. Another departure sees veteran clubman Merv Bignall leaving these shores to work and live in Cyprus. We all wish Merv the best of luck in his new life. Hadleigh Reserves are scheduled to play a friendly against Earls Colne at Layham Road on Saturday, 9th July at 1.30 pm. By the time these notes are published a new football secretary will have been appointed following the resignation of Chris Rose after four year’s valuable service at the Millfield. Brettsider

The under 12’s together with older members of the Youth Section, Managers, Family and Friends enjoyed the End of Season Presentation at the Football Club on 28th May, The presentation gives everybody the opportunity to get together socially and let their hair down. (Some more than others and you know who you are, don’t you ladies). With the season at a close, the boys can enjoy a short break before training, signing on etc starts. As always, on behalf of the boys, we would like to say a Massive Thanks to Manager Gavin Peters, who along with Bloss Tampion and Andy Lambert, not only give their time and expertise but consistently support each and every player.
