Local Cake Shop Owner Wins Award The owner of the Hadleigh cake shop, EriVica Cakes (also known as EV’s) has won an award at this year’s Cake International in Birmingham. This was the first year that Terri Newman had entered the competition, billed as “The largest cake decorating show and competition in the world�. The concept for Terri’s cake came to her while watching the film Doctor Doolittle 2 which stars a circus-performing bear called Archie. Her entry into the carved/sculpted cake category at the competition, held at Birmingham’s NEC, bagged Terri a Bronze Award, something she never dreamed of achieving with only her first entry. One of the entry requirements for the competition was that the entire piece had to be made from edible products, so every single part of Terri’s cake is food based, including the pool in which Archie sits. Archie the bear is just one example of the sort of cakes that Terri produces every day at EV’s. Inside the shop at 22 High Street, Hadleigh the walls are covered in photographs of some of the cakes that Terri has made for customers since opening EriVica Cakes in August 2018. Terri prides herself on being able to design and create cakes to fit each individual customer’s requirements. When it comes to the design of a cake your imagination is the only limit! Terri has created cakes in many various shapes and sizes, including some gravity-defying cakes! The flavour and finish of the cake is always the customer’s choice, ensuring that all EV’s cakes not only look good, but taste good too! Hadleigh Choral Society Christmas Concert After an exciting fall performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah, Hadleigh Choral Society returns to St. Mary's Church this Christmas season with a carols concert in support of local charity Cancer Campaign in Suffolk.
