IMPACT VIDEO
Our purpose at Habs is to ensure that every student who comes through our school is empowered to be able to make a profound impact in the world. We want all our students to have the capacity to lead and to make a positive difference, whether that be by driving positive change in society, or simply by being a good person who makes a difference to those around them.
We are an academically ambitious school, and we take great pride in our students’ achievements. They perform and achieve at the highest levels and go on to study at leading universities both in the UK and abroad. However, exam results and university offers are just one small part of the story. We foster a culture of scholarship and intellectual curiosity, encouraging our students to develop a deep love of learning and genuine passion for their subjects — while developing their ability to think critically and independently.
We constantly challenge our students to push beyond conventional exam-based learning through our dynamic curriculum and extensive range of co-curricular activities and partnerships. Together, these diverse opportunities cultivate essential personal qualities such as character, independence, teamwork and effective communication.
We value each student uniquely, supporting their pursuit of happiness and personal growth. Creating a strong sense of belonging where every student can flourish is central to our pastoral ethos. We instil in our students the value of taking charge and embracing leadership roles, whether it is in sport, music, the arts, Combined Cadet Force (CCF) or through our diverse partnership programmes. Through these opportunities, students not only develop their talents but also gain a deep understanding of their role in building a stronger, more united community—while enjoying every step of the journey.
By fostering academic excellence, personal growth and community engagement, we equip our students to leave us fully prepared to make a profound impact in the world.
We are Habs because of our students and staff, our campus location and our desire for progress. Our roots lie firmly in our philanthropic founding principles and, with our deep sense of purpose in our community, we want to attract and retain talent who want to make a meaningful difference to the world.
The co-curricular programme provides significant variety, and many activities are initiated or organised by pupils. In a school in which pupils have high academic ambition, the programme provides balance to pupils’ examination studies, and although voluntary, all pupils take part. As such it promotes pupils’ wellbeing and is one of the school’s significant strengths.”
- INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS INSPECTORATE (ISI)
We are bold and ambitious – for ourselves, for others and for the world.
This is underpinned by our altruistic and philanthropic foundation, which drives our values and behaviours. We expect everyone to give their best, to stretch boundaries, and to challenge the status quo. We believe that ambition can be limitless. When combined with courage, curiosity and community, ambition can be a selfless and powerful lever for change.
We create and use every opportunity to engage with the world around us; we ask questions, challenge assumptions and express our ideas.
Alongside our academic interests and skills, we love to exercise our imaginations, creativity and spirituality. Our broad and carefully curated curriculum leads us into experiences of awe and wonder – bringing a sense of magic and excitement to learning.
Exploring beyond our comfort zones enables us to become more self-aware, adventurous, resilient and independent.
We aim high, following our dreams but we cope well if we do not always succeed. We understand how to balance humility and boldness when speaking out on behalf of ourselves and others and we are unflinching problem-solvers, continually seeking to change the world for the better.
Habs is one caring, respectful community on one fabulous campus.
Beyond our students and staff, this sense of collaborative togetherness extends to our families, alumni, partner schools, the Haberdashers’ Company and schools and even the world. Our focus is on belonging, inclusivity and celebrating our differences. We are learning from and working with wider communities – locally, nationally and globally. We bring the world to our door, but we also step through that door into the wider world.
Aldenham House is a Grade II*-listed building dating back to 1672. Over the years, it has served as a major country house, a wartime BBC radio centre, a hotel and a film set. The house sits within a historic Victorian landscape, itself listed at Grade II on the Historic England Register of Parks and Gardens.
We are now focusing on repairing and upgrading the existing fabric of Aldenham House to preserve and extend its life. This will include essential repairs to roofs, brickwork, stonework, leadwork, and windows, alongside the addition of insulation and modifications to parts of the roofscape to support long-term maintenance. Additionally, the full refurbishment of the upper floor of the Stable Block will reinstate staff flats for junior teachers.
The building’s exterior has suffered from ongoing water ingress and fabric deterioration, leading to a gradual decline in its condition. This restoration project provides an opportunity to return all areas of the building to active use and to ensure it remains a fitting and enduring setting for the life of the school for generations to come.
Please excuse the appearance of Aldenham House during this time, we hope that when you next return to us, you will be able to see the building back in all its glory.

If you would like to apply for a scholarship we recommend you view our scholarship booklet found on our website.
On arrival, you will be guided to a welcome desk near Aldenham House where you can register. Your tour will be led by Habs students.
