Verna J. Kirkness Science & Engineering Education Program

THE PROGRAM

May 13 – May 18, 2018 University of British Columbia

The Kirkness Program provides the opportunity for grade 11 students to spend one week in a research laboratory (science or engineering) and experience what it would be like to attend University. The website provides a list of faculty participating in the program projects under Areas of Research. WHO CAN APPLY Grade 11 First Nations, Métis or Inuit students with an interest in science, math or engineering. HOW TO APPLY Applications with instructions are on Verna J. Kirkness Education Foundation website at http://www.vernajkirkness.org Complete the entire application – deadline for applying is January 31. Have a teacher or guidance counselor provide a reference letter PROGRAM DETAILS All expenses are paid – transportation, food and accommodations. Students will live in residence along with teacher/chaperones and spend time with Elders at the Aboriginal Students' Centres at the University. Students will make a presentation of their research findings on the final afternoon of the Program. Students will attend a traditional Feast with Dr. Verna J. Kirkness FOR MORE INFORMATION:
