DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION Construction Company Bookkeeper The employee will work closely with the controller and the construction manager. Principal duties include but are not limited to: Preparation of monthly full-cycle bookkeeping Recording accounts payable and accounts receivable Preparing accounts receivable invoices Payroll and related remittances Payments to suppliers GST and WCB filings Prepare bank reconciliations Prepare journal entries as appropriate for review by the controller With the assistance of the construction manager monitoring accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and that accounts receivable are received in a timely manner Monitor cash flow with the assistance of the controller Responsible for project accounting including: Assist construction manager with project budgets and entering budgets into Xyntax Maintenance of a monthly spreadsheet that tracks projects and provides month end information to the construction manager Reviews monthly spreadsheet and comparison of results to budget with the construction manager and controller Preparation of the work-in-progress journal entries each month end that records revenue for the month based on the percentage of completion method for review with the controller and the construction manager Review of all statement of financial position and income statement accounts on a monthly basis and reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information Prepares monthly and quarterly reports for review with the controller and construction manager trial balance
