LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS Dear Potential Partners of Laker Athletics,

Grand Valley State University strives for excellence in everything we do. Laker Athletics has a tradition of excellence in our athletics competition and in the classroom. Competitively, the Lakers have won seven straight NACDA Directors Cups, which is the all sports trophy nationally for NCAA Division II. In addition, over 60% of our student-athletes consistently achieve a 3.0 GPA or better. Our student-athletes give back as well with our 20 varsity sports programs and 550 student-athletes annually volunteering over 3,000 community service hours to various organizations. Our mission at GVSU is “Educating students to shape their lives, their professions, and their societies”and we believe our intercollegiate athletics programs help fulfill that mission. We have three major goals as an athletic department for our programs and student-athletes. We refer to them as our “Fundamentals for Success”. They are as follows: 1. Create the best learning environment possible. Again, these students come to college to get an education. While we are very proud of our former student-athletes who achieve success in professional sports, the fact of the matter is that 99% of our student-athletes will never have that chance. We believe it is our job to create an environment where they can get their degree from GVSU and prepare them for the rest of their lives in the “real world”. 2. Challenge our teams to competitive greatness. We are going to work hard to be the best we can be competitively. We define competitive greatness as coming through with your best effort and best performance when it is most needed. That is hard to achieve! We want our student-athletes to look back on their careers and know they became the best student, best athlete and best citizen possible. Our student-athletes also know that they will have to learn how to overcome adversity, which as we all know is a big part of success in life. 3. Commit the energy necessary for success. As you know, it takes hard work and commitment to be successful in anything, whether it is business or college sports. I am very proud of our entire staff here at Laker Athletics. From coaches to support staff, they work hard, they know their roles and they care about kids. We do what we do in order for these young people to have success and many people on our campus work together to accomplish this.

While this is not complicated by any means, we believe in keeping it simple and staying focused on the day-to-day journey of helping young people grow and develop. If we do that, with the great school that we have here, we will achieve good results. It takes a lot of effort and support by a lot of people to achieve the level of success that we have accomplished and we could not do it without the wonderful support of our sponsors. More than that, we want to develop a relationship with our partners so that you too can take pride in the success of our student-athletes at GVSU. I would like to thank you in advance for considering a sponsorship of the Grand Valley State athletics program. GO LAKERS! Sincerely,

Director of Athletics 2

From attention getting positioning statements to ear-grabbing production, you get commercials that break the sameness barrier and get the attention of your potential customers. GENERAL MARKETING

Downtown Campus

GVSU is well-established in Allendale, where the main campus is located, but Grand Valley also has a mark right downtown in Grand Rapids. The two campuses have become one for students, with most taking classes both in Allendale and downtown. Since both locations are connected by M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive), students, faculty and staff often commute back and forth on a regular basis. Grand Valley’s presence in downtown Grand Rapids is growing with the Pew Campus as well as on Medical Mile with the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences.

The Grand Rapids campus services just over 11,000 students. The GVSU downtown campus is larger than the following schools: • Villanova (10,482) • TCU (9,142) • Notre Dame (8,363 undergraduate) • Northwestern (8,000 undergraduate) • Georgetown (7,433 undergraduate) • Butler (4,640) GVSU SPORTS PROPERTIES
