Nacido en Vancouver B.C. Canadá, el 23 de febrero de 1970, Lincoln era un artista intuitivo autodidacta. Aprendió su estilo y proceso a través de prueba y error. También creó un par de técnicas únicas. Lincoln suele incorporar un patrón de cuadrícula en su arte; la rejilla representa la matriz de nuestras vidas. Born in Vancouver B.C. Canada, on February 23, 1970, Lincoln was a self-taught intuitive artist. He learned his style and process through trial and error. He also created a couple of unique techniques. Lincoln usually incorporates a grid pattern in his art; the grid represents the matrix of our lives. The many twists, turns, and the millions of decisions we make that shape our lives. The artist also has created a paste he likes to use to give his art more depth and texture. He began painting in 2017, after his wife and he took painting classes at their local recreation center. He caught the painting bug and hasn’t stopped painting since. He was immediately drawn to abstraction, sculpture and mixed media and his goal is to push the boundaries of abstraction, always striving to create interesting and unique images. He likes to incorporate objects into the painting, like glass or found objects and create a thick sculptural texture. He refers to his work as a sculptural painting. A few of his art heroes are Francis Bacon, Jackson Pollock, Jean Michelle Basquiat, Gerhard Richter, and Hilma af Klint. As an intuitive artist, he will have a basic idea of composition when he starts. Then, the painting evolves and lets his intuition and imagination guide him through the process. Finally, at the end of the painting, he wonders: how did I do that? Lincoln’s art is an extension of his imagination. He sees an object or an image, and starts to wonder, how it would look in a painting? Or the shape of the object will give him an idea about the composition of a painting. Then he thinks about it for a day, a week, or years imagining what colours to use and the structure and style of the finished work, building a map or blueprint of the painting in his mind. Then he gets to work trying to recreate the image. Sometimes it goes as planned, but other times it goes off in a completely different direction. His multi-layered paintings represent a person’s life, the ups, downs, twists and turns. And his ultimate goal is to create a new artistic language that blurs the lines between painting and sculpture.
