Gulfshore Playhouse Sponsorship Opportunities

Page 1

Our Mission

Gulfshore Playhouse is passionately committed to enriching the cultural landscape of our region by producing professional theatre to the highest artistic standards and providing unique educational opportunities to diverse groups of people in a spirit of service, adventure, and excitement. Our work is inspired by a belief in the magic of theatre to expand the imagination, challenge the senses, provoke discussion, and revitalize in our audience an understanding of our common humanity. This belief drives the care with which we treat our artists, audiences, students, staff, and members of the greater community.

A Letter from Our Founder

Dear Friends,

Did you know that art patronage has existed for over 4,000 years? From the birth of civilization all the way to today, patronage – the sponsorship of artists by individuals or institutions – paved the way for much of history’s greatest art. Without it, we wouldn’t have the great works of the Italian Renaissance or half the art in prestigious museums around the world. Patronage is as old as art itself, and when you donate to the arts, you are becoming a part of that long lineage of arts supporters who have kept them alive.

Gulfshore Playhouse exists today because of the generosity of donors like you. Donor support allowed us to get off the ground in the early days, sustained us through hardships like hurricanes and a global pandemic, and helped turn the dream that is now the Baker Theatre and Education Center into a vibrant reality. Joining our donor family now will help both our literal and figurative transition into our bright future, starting with the 2024-2025 season and onward.

I was once told that fundraising for a capital campaign is easy, it’s keeping the lights on that is hard. While I wouldn’t necessarily call capital campaign fundraising easy, it does create a lot of excitement. Sustaining operations to maintain services once you’re finally in that building doesn’t have quite the same glamour, but is just as, if not more, important.

You may be wondering why we ask for donations in addition to charging for tickets. The long-standing model of not-for-profit theatre in America is that annual revenue is comprised of both donations and ticket sales. This is different than commercial theatre, like what you’d see on Broadway, which is sustained by upfront investment and ticket sales, hence the substantially higher ticket prices. In order to produce world-class theatre while keeping ticket prices accessible, fundraising for at least half of our annual budget each year is required.

I have adopted the mantra that while the experience of witnessing live theatre is pure magic, it takes much more than the wave of a wand to create it. Theatre is truly a labor of love; infinitely rewarding, but a lot of hard work. Hundreds of artists, artisans, and creatives dedicate their talents to ensure that only the highest quality theatre and education is produced by us.

Professional theatre is not just an art form, but an entire industry with profound economic and cultural impact. Gulfshore Playhouse will be increasing its staff by fifty percent over the coming years, creating shows with significantly higher production values in a technologically advanced space, which will include larger numbers of professional actors and musicians, all to support our mission of creating world-class professional theatre and unique educational opportunities right here in Naples.

Your support plays a vital role in making this happen. By becoming a donor, you can enjoy every show on stage even more with the knowledge that you played an integral part in making it happen and that you are helping to spread joy to every patron who walks through our doors and positively impacting the lives of so many.

Whether you are a first-time donor, a sustaining supporter, or feel that purchasing a ticket is the best way you can support right now, thank you. You are the reason why we do what we do. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

Who We Are

Gulfshore Playhouse is Naples’ premier professional theatre, serving our region by producing transformative theatrical experiences to the highest artistic standards for residents, visitors, and students alike. Our work unites professional artists from across the country to create meaningful experiences just for you.

On our stage, you’ll witness masterful performances from professional actors - many of whom have Broadway, film, and television credits. You'll also see a full spectrum of theatrical genres, from lush musicals, reimagined classics, and hilarious comedies to brand new works, insightful dramas, and work from our nation’s most vital voices.

Our work goes beyond the stage and into the heart of our community, serving tens of thousands of students annually, both children and adults, through Gulfshore Playhouse Education. Each experience is carefully curated to inspire joy, encourage conversation, and create connection.

EDUCATION OF THE ARTS

EDUCATION THROUGH THE ARTS

Pre-professional training through theatre productions, classes, and summer camps gives students the opportunity to grow as performers and as people. Our programs are built to improve performance skills, build confidence, encourage self-expression, and inspire artistic growth. Whether you’re an experienced performer or you’ve never set foot on stage, Gulfshore Playhouse Education will prepare you for every stage in life.

ThinkTheatre brings theatre-based learning techniques into classrooms by pairing teachers with teaching artists to develop educationally enriching programs. Classroom residencies reflect state standard curriculum while creating an interdisciplinary learning environment focused on academic enhancement, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression. All of our residencies can be modified to fit the needs of each classroom teacher.

EDUCATION AROUND THE ARTS

ArtReach is our community partnership program designed to extend the special connection experienced by our audience beyond the theatre walls. Through initiatives in schools, libraries, and senior centers, we open our world to the community, offering post-show discussions, guest lectures, performance partnerships, and professional development. These efforts aim to foster lasting connections with our audience, even if they’ve never stepped foot in our theatre.

Ways to Give

Bequest

You can designate Gulfshore Playhouse as a beneficiary of an asset with your will, trust, or beneficiary designation form.

Ways You Can Define the Amount of Your Bequest

A gift of a particular amount of money (e.g., $250,000).

A gift of a specific item or items (e.g., 1,000 shares of ABC Corporation).

A gift that will be made from the remainder of your estate once all other bequests, debts, and taxes have been paid (e.g., you give 25% of the rest, residue, and remainder of your estate). Often called a “residuary bequest,” this approach assures that your family and debts will be taken care of before your estate makes a bequest to Gulfshore Playhouse.

Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

Donor-advised funds (DAF) are a centralized vehicle for charitable giving. With a DAF, charitably inclined individuals, families, and businesses make an irrevocable gift to a public charity that sponsors a donoradvised fund program and may take an immediate tax deduction. Donors can then recommend grants over time to IRS-qualified 501(c )(3) public charities like Gulfshore Playhouse.

Ways to Give - How

does it work?

Establish your Donor Advised Fund by making an irrevocable, tax-deductible donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.

Advise the investment allocation of the donated assets (any investment growth is tax-free). Recommend grants to qualified public charities of your choice.

Since the original contribution to the DAF provided the maximum tax deduction, the donor-advisor cannot receive any benefits that would change the value of the tax deduction. However, the donoradvisor can receive benefits that have insubstantial or no fair market value.

Stock Donations / Wire Transfers

Gulfshore Playhouse gratefully accepts gifts via Stock or Wire transfers. For more information, contact Chief Advancement Officer, Lisa Halsey at lhalsey@gulfshoreplayhouse.org or at (239) 261-7529 ext. 203.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (IRA)

Gifts from your IRA (up to $100,000) are a smart way to support Gulfshore Playhouse and may have significant, additional tax benefits depending on current legislation. Please email Chief Advancement Officer, Lisa Halsey at lhalsey@gulfshoreplayhouse.org for more information about the processing of your donation.

IRA Charitable Rollover

Gifts from your IRA (up to $100,000) are a smart way to support Gulfshore Playhouse, and have a significant, additional tax benefits depending on current legislation

Types of Gifts

There are many types of assets that make the best planned gifts.

Charitable Remainder Trust/Unitrust or Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust enables you to make a contribution (cash or appreciated property) in exchange for payments each year for a specified term or for life. This payment can be made to you or others and the remaining assets are transferred to Gulfshore Playhouse to be used as you have directed. These types of gifts can provide significant income, capital gains, and estate tax savings for you.

As a LORT (League of Regional Theatres) theatre, our supporters are putting Naples on the map for professional theatre. These integral donations support the overall operations of Gulfshore Playhouse.
