We would like to highlight part of our team in this newsletter edition. When the pandemic quickly changed the world, we as a financial institution, had to change the way we provided services. We began to offer extended services in the drive-through to help meet our members needs. Our front-line staff worked hard to assist our members. We would like to thank and recognize them for their hard work and dedication. Not only did they adapt to changes and learn new methods to deliver our services in an extremely busy and ever-changing environment; they did this at a time when tensions were high and people were scared. Thank you all so much for being an important part of the Gulf Credit Union team. We appreciate you!

HURRICANE PREPARATION

In the event of a mandatory evacuation all GCU locations will close immediately.

Evacuation Planning: When a hurricane threatens, evacuating is the smartest move. It helps to be prepared.

When local officials call for an evacuation, get going without delay.

• Make a checklist of what you need to do before you leave town and review it.

• Monitor NOAA weather radio and local TV and radio broadcasts during storm season.

• Learn your evacuation routes. Make sure you have a FULL TANK OF GAS before you leave. Expect traffic delays.

• Prepare an emergency supply kit including: radio, flashlight, extra batteries, extra eye glasses, bottled water, non-perishable food, dry clothes, bedding, insurance information, important documents, medications, copies of prescriptions and special products for babies, the elderly and medically fragile family members.

• Include your pets in your emergency plans.

Create a list of available pet friendly lodging along your evacuation route. Build a separate emergency kit for your pets including food, water, treats, their favorite toy, vet records and tags.

Dawanda is our Mortgage Loan Manager.

Dawanda leads the mortgage team in achieving the highest levels of performance. She manages and directs the daily activities of the Mortgage Department and oversees all mortgage lending functions, which includes, sales, funding, processing, closing, servicing and regulatory compliance. She’s responsible for ensuring the department is providing friendly, professional, timely and personal service to all members.

Becky is our Mortgage Loan Originator. You will visit with Becky frequently during the beginning of your loan process. She will request information necessary to submit your loan to underwriting for approval. Becky will share her wealth of knowledge and help you find the best loan product to meet your needs. Her goal is to ensure you have a smooth and successful mortgage loan experience.

Christy is our Loan Closer and Mortgage Loan Processor. You will visit with Christy frequently as your loan is processed and transitions to closing.

She will request information necessary to submit your loan to underwriting, set your closing date and furnish closing information to the title company, your insurance company and you. Her goal is to ensure a smooth, successful closing for each of our members.

26 Years of Service

Karen Hebert began her career with Gulf Credit Union volunteering her time processing envelopes containing flyers and eventually accepted a position in the Loan Department in 1995. She also worked in Credit Cards and Collections.

Since 2004, Karen has served our members in the Mortgage Department as a Mortgage Loan Processor and retired after 26 years of service with Gulf Credit Union.

Karen commented, "This is a happy occasion and also a sad one. I will miss the members and the service I have strived to provide them. Here’s to the next chapter. I am looking forward to many new adventures with my family and grandchildren.

I loved working at Gulf Credit Union, being a part of such a great institution, and I look forward to it’s continued success. I may be stepping out for the last time as an employee, but I will always be here as a loyal member to Gulf Credit Union."
