AXEL Axel Guldsmeden opened in 2007, in this beautiful turn-of-thecentury building, and is still our biggest hotel in terms of number of rooms. Axel quickly became a pet favourite of the sustainabiltyoriented media and eco-conscious travellers who still want a certain level of comfort and quality, and was the first of the Guldsmeden Hotels to achieve the golden Ø and Green Globe certification.

In general, Axel has become the place where we develop and try out

new ideas – and if they work here, we incorporate them in the rest of the Guldsmeden Hotels.

If they don´t work – well, we´ve probably had fun trying them out!

We have 125 rooms here, including 2 amazing penthouse suites with their own private rooftop terrace and hot-tub.

And if you have time, don´t miss a trip to the Axel Spa while you´re here – it´s such a beautiful and relaxing space. Or just come down to the lounge and courtyard, we love it when our guests hang out with us!

THE AXEL BAR Presided over by our resident master of wine, Mikael, the Axel bar has a firm grip on the good grape! A wide range of both upcoming and well known wine farmers, focusing on sustainable farming and organic grapes, allow us to spoil and surprise you with unusual and delicious organic wines.

Our cocktails are all based on organic spirits, fruit juices, herbs and soft drinks from local suppliers, and are a delicate alternative.

VESTERBRO Vesterbro is one of the coolest areas in the Danish capital, and has been named as one of the foremost hipster neighbourhoods on the planet.

Formerly an infamous red-light, working-class neighbourhood, Vesterbro´s turnaround began with the transformation of the old cattle market Øksnehallen into a light and stylish exhibition hall. The whole area around Øksnehallen, the former meatpacking district, is now completely re-invented and abuzz with amazing restaurants, nightclubs, galleries, cafés, green oases and much more – while still maintaining its gritty & urban rock´n´roll feel.

Along Vesterbrogade and Istedgade, you will also find plenty of bars, restaurants, and designer stores. And don´t miss Vesterbro´s own food street, Frenchy Værnedamsvej – a gourmet’s paradise with specialist cheese, wine, fish and chocolate shops, as well as cafes and grocers.

THE STORy & THE CONCEPT Sandra and Marc Weinert opened the first Hotel Guldsmeden in Guldsmedgade in Århus in 1999.

Today, in addition to the now 27-room hotel in Aarhus, the Guldsmeden Hotels group encompasses 4 hotels and a capacity of 350 rooms in Copenhagen, and a 50-room hotel in Oslo. A gorgeous rental villa in Menton in the south of France as well as

a luxury resort in Ubud, Bali, is also a part of the expansion that the Guldsmeden Hotels group has developed over the past decade.

From the very first, luxurious simplicity, happy hostmanship, an unpretentious atmosphere and uncompromising sustainability have been our guiding stars.

DIFFERENT & ENERGIZING A conference or meeting at any of the Guldsmeden Hotels is different in many ways from what you´re probably used to.

From the cosy & den-like rooms at Axel Guldsmeden, over the intimate room by the garden at Bertrams Guldsmeden, to the lush greenhouse at Carlton Guldsmeden, and the cool, inner-city rooms at Babette Guldsmeden, we provide the very best in beautiful surroudings, creative atmosphere, excellent facilities and delicious food & drink, designed to energize and inspire you! Turn off all lights in empty rooms.

Turn off heating when windows are open and then set radiator at 2.

3. Sort paper, cardboard and glass for the respective trash bins.

4. Check that bed & kitchen linen and towels are used before sending to wash.

5. Make sure that you use the correct dosage of cleaning products.

6. Fill trash bags full up, to use as few as possible.

7. Reuse trash bag in room, if possible.

8. Never throw our things that still work – pens left in rooms etc.

9. Never let the water run unnecessarily. Turn off taps when possible during cleaning.

10. All magazines left in rooms are to be collected in the lobby, for use by other guests.

11. Always report dripping taps or running toilets, so we don´t waste water.

12. Only use tumble dryer when necessary.

At Mineslund it´s all about interfering as little as possible, as slowly as possible. In fact, the polar opposite of conventional farming. Our animals grow slowly and live happily, they are only fed what they were meant to eat, and enjoy an outdoor life. In our view, this adds a crucial positive dimension to the culinary experience!

Original art has always played an important part in creating the atmosphere of our hotels. Marc Weinert, as well as being the architect and visual designer of the Guldsmeden Hotels, comes from an artistic background. His father, Knud Weinert´s, paintings and collages can be found throughout the hotels side by side with pieces by established and up-andcoming artists, as well as Indonesian antiques. Most recently, we have acquired a handful of wonderful paintings by Spanish-born Bali resident Mersuka Dopazo Gascón, that light up the rooms and hallways at Babette Guldsmeden.

Year round, we love our garden here at Axel – it´s a special room all in itself. Secluded and lush with green plants and flowers, the garden has lots of lounge sofa areas, an outdoor fireplace in the centre, lanterns, cushions and soft fleecy blankets if it´s chilly.

The parasols will shield you from rain, and we allow ourselves a little outdoor heating, when it gets really cold. So there´s always an opportunity for a breath of fresh air, and feel your pulse slow down and your spirits lift up..
