WELCOME TO AARHUS! In Denmark, we´re known as the City of Smiles, and with good reason - there´s such a good atmosphere in this city, which has traditionally always been the physical and spiritual home to many artists, musicians and university students.

Our particular area is called the Quartier Latin, inspired by Paris, as the feel of these streets are similar to those of our French namesake. It´s the oldest area of Aarhus, dating back around 500 years or more. Make sure you explore the neighborhood, and sample all that we have to offer - cosy cafés, wonderful gourmet restaurants, speciality shops and artisans, and lots of chic, edgy or quirky design shops, galleries, record and secondhand shops.

AARHUS GULDSMEDEN Welcome to the very first, original Hotel Guldsmeden, named for our street - Guldsmedgade which in olden days housed a number of goldsmiths and jewellers.

When we opened in 1999, we had 15 rooms - and no experience in running a hotel! But lots of warm hostmanship and enthusiasm to make up for it ;-) We´ve since expanded to 27 rooms, and become a little more knowledgeable over the years. This is where the whole Guldsmeden Hotels adventure began, where bohemian, laid-back luxury met the best organic food & drink, laying the groundstone for our concept and continued growth. But Aarhus Guldsmeden will forever be the family home.

Turn off all lights in empty rooms.

Turn off heating when windows are open and then set radiator at 2.

3. Sort paper, cardboard and glass for the respective trash bins.

4. Check that bed & kitchen linen and towels are used before sending to wash.

5. Make sure that you use the correct dosage of cleaning products.

6. Fill trash bags full up, to use as few as possible.

7. Reuse trash bag in room, if possible.

8. Never throw our things that still work – pens left in rooms etc.

9. Never let the water run unnecessarily. Turn off taps when possible during cleaning.

10. All magazines left in rooms are to be collected in the lobby, for use by other guests.

11. Always report dripping taps or running toilets, so we don´t waste water.

12. Only use tumble dryer when necessary.

Original art has always played an important part in creating the atmosphere of our hotels. Marc Weinert, as well as being the architect and visual designer of the Guldsmeden Hotels, comes from an artistic background. His father, Knud Weinert´s, paintings and collages can be found throughout the hotels side by side with pieces by established and up-andcoming artists, as well as Indonesian antiques. Here in Aarhus, many of the walls are adorned with photographic art by hotel manager, Henriette - our very own renaissance woman, spanning multiple talents, including stand-up comedy, no less!

Bike rental at Aarhus Guldsmeden is free but we only have two bicycles to offer.

We´ll say it ourselves, our rooms are a little small. We established Aarhus Guldsmeden on the existing layout of the building, which used to be residential homes, and chose to devote our energy and attention into making these petite room the most cosy, comfortable and wellappointed space that we could imagine.
