2020 ist ein besonderes Jahr. Die Corona-Krise hat die Welt verändert, aber sie hat auch den Zusammenhalt gestärkt. Ich konnte eine Bewusstseinsschärfung wahrnehmen. Was ist wichtig? Was macht Wien als Stadt so lebenswert? Was vermissen wir, wenn wir nur zu Hause sind?

Es ist das Leben draußen, es ist der Bummel durch die Stadt mit ihren kleinen individuellen Geschäften, es sind die Bars und Restaurants, es ist das Zusammensein ... Die Krise hat neben vielen negativen Facetten aber auch ihr Gutes. Das „Lokale“ wird wieder mehr geschätzt; schließlich sind es nicht die Ketten, die es überall gibt, die Wien zu dieser einzigartigen Stadt machen. Die Mottos #zusammensindwirmehr und #supportsmallbusiness haben an Bedeutung gewonnen. Zum zehnten Geburtstag von GUIDED sind wir daher gemeinsam mit den vielen tollen Läden der Stadt optimistisch, dass wir alle gestärkt aus der Krise hervorgehen. GUIDED weist den Weg abseits der Trampelfade und ist TouristInnen und Einheimischen, die Individualität schätzen, Leitfaden für ein einzigartiges Shoppingerlebnis.

HAPPY GUIDED

The year 2020 has been, and still is, highly unusual. The coronavirus pandemic has changed the entire world. But it has also made us stronger together, and I have noticed an increased awareness among us. So what is important? What makes Vienna such a liveable city? What do we miss when we have to stay at home?

It is life outdoors and strolls through the city, with its many small, original shops. It’s the bars and restaurants, being together. The corona crisis, besides all of its negative facets has some good ones, as well. For one, the word ‘local’ has once again become important: it is not the chain stores found all over the world that make Vienna so distinctive.

The mottos #TogetherWeAreMore und #SupportSmallBusiness have taken on a new meaning. And that’s why, on the 10th anniversary of GUIDED, we are optimistic about the future of the many great shops in Vienna and are convinced that we’ll come out of this crisis with new strength and resilience.

For those tourists and Austrians who value individuality, GUIDED shows the way to a unique shopping experience off the beaten path in Vienna.

Seit über 50 Jahren wird in dem charmanten kleinen Geschäft mit Liebe und Kompetenz beraten. Ob für Hochzeit, Ball oder die Fahrt im Oldtimer – die Auswahl an Handschuhen ist groß. Auch auf die Qualität des Angebots wird seit jeher viel Wert gelegt. Das gilt für Regenschirme, die Windstärken bis 100 km/h trotzen, ebenso wie für Business-Socken (Falke), Hosenträger, Gehstöcke oder die Schladminger Hüttenpatschen.

Summer & Autumn 2020 impulstanz.com Europe’s biggest festival for contemporary dance and performance had planned to once again transform Vienna’s summer into a melting pot for dance enthusiasts from all over the world with performances, workshops, and parties – but then everything turned out differently. Confronted with health concerns and travel restrictions related to COVID-19, ImPulsTanz unfortunately had to be cancelled to ensure the safety and health of the artists, participants, audience, and staff. But the festival is not giving up on movement and creativity in these challenging times! Planned for July and August is Public Moves, free daily dance and movement workshops with everything from hip-hop to yoga in public spaces all over town. In the autumn the plan is to connect contemporary dance and performance with visual art in cooperation with the mumok – Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, the Leopold Museum, and the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Around 100 independent labels and young creatives will come together in the Ovalhalle, Arena21, and frei_raum Q21 of the MuseumsQuartier to present their unconventional but functional products. A cross section of the design world will exhibit their exceptional, non-mainstream one of a kinds. With the focus on product variety, no material is off limits, whether glass, ceramics, wood, or paper.

The WeihnachtsQuartier offers visitors fashion, jewellery, accessories, art, graphic design, and food in a 1,000 m2 space, making the design market in the MQ the perfect place for a relaxed good time.

FOTO WIEN 2021 10.—28.03.2021 fotowien.at When the new FOTO WIEN Festival gets underway for the second time, the whole of Vienna will be given over to photography from 10 to 28 March 2021. The aim of this major event is to showcase not just photography as an art medium but also the local photography scene. For a few weeks photography will be the city’s main theme. As part of FOTO WIEN, more than 130 partners in the programme – museums, exhibition venues, galleries, art universities, artists’ initiatives, and off-spaces – will offer new insights into both the local and the international photography scene. The call for partners is already out and will be open until 1 September 2020.

Recalling the past, addressing the now, and exploring ways of realising the future: over a period of five weeks, the Wiener Festwochen will unfold inside the city, opening up spaces for new artistic works. Inspiring creations come together at Vienna’s biggest art festival: throughout the city, the productions promise to be stimulating and provocative, inspiring, imaginative, and convivial. Local and international artists will showcase their works in the realms of theatre, dance, music, visual arts, and performance, creating a special atmosphere. The festival will also feature several workshops, participatory projects, and a series of artistic interventions at various venues throughout the city. From 14 May to 20 June 2021, the Wiener Festwochen will present ambitious new pieces by key figures of the international arts scene, such as Tania Bruguera, Markus Schinwald, Kate McIntosh, Philippe Quesne, and others.
