On the main page as well as the private pages we post daily devotionals, advice, quotes and scriptures to inspire others.

As of 2020, GYHM has a website, gyhm.org and has also launched a clothing store on teespring.com.

In 2020, the Lord begun to speak to our founder about launching a magazine, which has been a childhood dream of hers. The purpose of Guard Your Heart Magazine is to empower and inspire others to dream big and pursue their God given dreams. We hope that each story shared will inspire you to overcome the hurdles in your life and pursue what God has laid out in your heart to do.

Luc Georges was a man after God’s own heart. He was a missionary, pastor, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and so much more. He was a man of integrity and very well respected and known. He was born on April 27, 1928 and went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2021 at the age of 92. He was my maternal grandfather and someone who played a major role in me being the person I am today. I decided to write about my grandfather in hopes of inspiring others and helping his future descendants get a glimpse of who he was and the impact he has made.

On April 27, 1928, on the Island of Haiti a general was born. He was one of 20 children his mother gave birth to. His parents were of several ethnic groups. In their bloodline were African, Hispanic, Caucasian and Arawak. The Arawak people are a tribe of Native Americans who resided on the island of Hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republic), several Caribbean nations and south America. His mother, Victoria François was a woman whom God blessed with many sets of multiples. Her first child was from a previous marriage that did not work out. Her first son from that marriage was named Rosemus François and lived to be over 100 years old before dying in 2020. Rosemus and several of his siblings were blessed to be able to live to old age and migrate to the United States and beyond. He resided in New York with his family for many decades before his passing.

Victoria’s children that followed were all fathered by my great grandfather, “kekes.” “Kekes” was a nickname my great-grandfather had. The only people who knew his legal first name was his wife and parents because in the Haitian (Caribbean) cultural it’s rude to ask parents what their first names are and the fact that he was born in Cuba made it hard to track his identity.

“Kekes” was born in the country of Cuba and was a fair skin man of Afro-Hispanic and Caucasian origins. He spoke many languages which included Spanish, Haitian Creole and French. His family left Cuba due to political reasons and decided to make Haiti and the Dominican Republic their new permanent home. When they came to the island of Hispaniola, they took on new identities.

When Victoria gave birth to my grandfather, who was a multiple, she decided to give him two names. A tradition many in my family still follow. In fact, many in the Caribbean culture give their children two first names. His legal name registered with the government of Haiti was Paul François. But, to all who knew him, his name was Luc Georges. In fact, growing up this was the only name he was allowed to share with those who were not part of the immediate family. I remember one time as a teenage when my grandfather was preaching, he mentioned he had two names. But, I ignored what he said and didn’t dig deeper into the matter. The confirmation about my grandfather’s legal name came many years later in my early twenties. He asked me to buy him a plane ticket to Haiti and gave me his passport, upon looking at his passport I was shocked.

Why did his children have the Georges last name and even some of his nieces and nephews have the Georges last name?

That question led to even more questions and deeper revelations. Many of my immediate cousins, both in the USA and in Haiti, had two names as well. Some of them the names I grew up calling them was not their legal name at all and boy was it a shocker to me when they showed me documents with their legal identities that was registered. As I took all this information in, it begun to make sense why my grandfather always called me by a name that was not on my birth certificate.

When I asked my grandfather why his generation had a last name that was different than their children and from his generation to my generation many had two names, he became to explain to me the family history. When Victoria and Kekes began to have children many of their children did not live beyond toddler age. Somehow they always died.

Some of them lived a few months or years and then would pass away. Instead of thinking maybe it was because she was given birth to many sets of multiples (twins and triplets) in a time where healthcare was not accessible, and the children were not fully developed. They presumed that witchcraft was involved. They felt that someone was taking the names of their children and putting them on demonic altars to use the children in satanic rituals. So, Victoria and Kekes decide to move to a new town and give new names to all their children, so no one knew of their true identities and in the event, someone wanted to go to a witchdoctor to put curses on her children or use them in a satanic ritual they would not be able to. But, that logic did not stop many of her children from dying.

It wasn’t until they made the decision to give their lives to Jesus Christ that the deaths stopped. So yes, satan was attacking her children and was afraid of what they would become and the descendants that would be birth from them. But, changing their names did not give them a solution. It was only accepting Jesus Christ, that gave them the safety, life and victory they had longed for. My grandfather was the second to youngest and only survivor of the set of multiples my great-grandmother gave birth to when she had him. According to my grandfather, he was one of three. But, only he survived.

That lead me to start asking some questions. .

My grandfather, Luc Georges grew up in the ways of the Lord and become one of the founding members of the largest church in Haiti’s second largest city CapHaitien (Okap).

My grandfather was a pastor and missionary who traveled far and wide throughout Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the USA preaching the word of God. As a little girl I grew a very tight bond with my grandparents. I became their shadow. When they went on mission trips, I would beg them to take me with them. My grandmother, Adeline Cheridor, was in charge of several branches of ministry at the church my grandfather helped pastored and I always followed her to her activities. Whether it was setting up tables for communion, organizing an event for the youth or the women of the church, I always tagged along with them. The time I was able to spend with them doing the work of the Lord really stirred a passion in me to do the work of God through mission trips and preach the gospel.

Preaching the word of God was ingrained in my grandfather’s DNA. He had a unique ability to minister to people. Not just within the four walls of the church but outside of it as well. There were several times I would be out with him in public, like Walmart and he would see someone and automatically tell me we needed to minister to that person. At first, I would hesitate because I didn’t want to bother people while they were about their day-to-day activities, especially in America. But my grandfather did not care. He was a very gentle and loving man who was friendly and able to become friends with complete strangers. My grandfather was very well versed in the Bible. He carried his Bible with him everywhere he went and constantly read the Bible. Day or night you would see him with his Bible. God gave him a unique ability for teaching the Bible that captivated many.

Luc Georges was a well-respected man far and wide.

He was a man after God’s heart and loved to pray. He would often stay up late at night praying for his family and would wake up before anyone else to pray. He prayed so much, even in his sleep I often heard him communicating with God through prayer.

He and my grandmother had nine children and raised their children to pray. My mother used to tell me stories about him and my grandmother waking up all of their nine children early in the morning to pray and often times they made their children wake up early to climb a mountain or go to church for corporate morning prayer instead of just praying at home.

Not only was my grandfather a missionary, pastor, prayer warrior, Bible scholar husband and father. He was a man of deep wisdom and very prophetic. The level of wisdom that God gave him is indescribable.

He always knew things others did not and was able to solve problems in ways others could not. God often spoke to him through dreams. Luc Georges, went home to glory on April 8, 2021. He was 92 years old. He lived to see his great grandchildren.

Even before his death we would often hear him listing out every member of his descendants in prayer. He knew all of us by name and would pray for us. God blessed him with a very sharp mind and he would ask for us by name.

Letting Him go was not the easiest. He was loved by his children, grandchildren and so many others.

Prior to his death many of his children and grandchildren were visited by the Lord and told to release him because for so long we were praying for more days and did not want to let him go. I remember hours before his death the Lord visited me and told me “Jovenise, let him go. Your holding him back.”

I was very attached to my grandfather, as was many of his grandchildren. We often called him papa (dad) because of the high respect we had for him. He was man of honor, integrity, honesty and peace. He was truly a peacemaker and filled with so much wisdom.

He was a family man and taught his grandchildren to love, respect and embrace each other like we were siblings and not cousins. He will be dearly missed. My grandfather may not be here in the physical, but he is not gone. His spirit is with God, singing praises to God and his earthly legacy lives on through many generations.

My name is Ebony and I’m from a small town in Louisiana.

2. How would you describe your walk with Yahweh? What is your testimony?

My walk with God started in 2014 as the result of a broken heart. God had never spoken to me and one night at church he did and the rest is history. My present walk could be stronger but I get in my own way.

4. How has the 90 Days prayer challenge for future and current spouses impacted your life?

The 90 day prayer for your spouse was full of wisdom and gems for us to look at and evaluate. It showed me the beauty in waiting and how God doesn’t leave us but prepares us for what he wants us to have.

5. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned during the 90 Days challenge?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is WAITING and patiently waiting on God to do what he said he was going to do.

The changes I’ve noticed is how to wait on God with just me and him and not to rush out of desperation or loneliness.

7. What has stood out to you the most about the prayers during the 90 Days challenge?

What stood out the most was how Ms. Benjamin was so accurate in prayer and scriptures. She touched every place that I needed to be healed and she did a great job of ministering to us.

These are prayers that I’m praying for my future spouse. I’ve been praying for him even more so this year.

Eight things to do with your money

1. Pay your tithes.

Remember it is the Lord who gives the ability to create wealth. Your financial blessings are from God and you should honor Him through your financial tithes and offering.

2. Save it.

You never know what tomorrow will bring. Do not waste your money on vain things. But, save it for the hour your may be in need.

3. Invest it.

Investing your money will help you to generate more money. The best way to grow your income is to invest it.

4. Pay off debt.

You never want to be a slave to debt. It’s important to pay off your debt and stay away from debt as much as possible.

5. Help those in need.

The Lord blesses us to be a blessing to others. Now, that doesn’t mean we are to give out our money to the point we become poor, but, when God blesses, pray and ask Him to lead you to those who are in need.

6. Spend it wisely on things you need.

One of the worst things to do with your money is to spend it on things you do not need. It’s important to make a budget and stick to it.

7. Invest it in courses that will make you a better person.

Knowledge is something no one can take from you and you can always use to be a better person and make more money. Thus, your money should not only be spent on materialistic things but things that will help you grow as a person.

8. Invest it in tangible assets.

Invest your money on things you know will be useful to you in the long run and can be exchanged for cash when you are in need. These types of investments include real estate.
