THE BIRTH OF A MOVEMENT Guard Your Heart Ministries or GYHM was founded on December 2017 by Jovenise Benjamin. This ministry was first launched as a Facebook page and since then has expanded. GYHM has members all around the world. Besides our main page we have two private Facebook groups: Guard Your Heart Ministries (ladies) and Guard Your Heart Ministries (gentleman). On the main page as well as the private pages we post daily devotionals, advice, quotes and scriptures to inspire others.

As of 2020, GYHM has a website, gyhm.org and has also launched a clothing store on teespring.com.

In 2020, the Lord begun to speak to our founder about launching a magazine, which has been a childhood dream of hers. The purpose of Guard Your Heart Magazine is to empower and inspire others to dream big and pursue their God given dreams. We hope that each story shared will inspire you to overcome the hurdles in your life and pursue what God has laid out in your heart to do.

GABRIEL Gabriel Udensi is a man after God’s own heart. He is a poet, writer, prayer warrior and an apostle of Jesus Christ. He is an associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB). He is member of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Abia State Chapter. He is passionate about reaching others through writing and has a scribe's anointing to write. In total He has internationally published eight books and has several others in the making. He has a Facebook group called "Christian Readers and Writers" in which he shares advice with others on writing and biblical principles. He also has a powerful prayer group on WhatsApp called "The Lord's Arsenal."

When did you accept Jesus Christ as Lord of your life and how has your Christian journey been?

I answered the call of destiny, to carry my cross, denial self and follow Christ Jesus in my Secondary School days, precisely in 1994, while in JSS (Junior Secondary School) class 3, during a prayer program, that was organized by the Scripture Union Student Fellowship, popularly known as SU. The journey has not been rosy, because of the afflictions and persecutions that I had suffered for the sake of the gospel. However, they are the necessary trainings, for the adequate fortification of a good soldier of the Cross, in preparedness for the end time warfare.

What advice would you give to young Christian?

Give yourself to the ministry of the Word and fervent Prayers, to build spiritual capacities. Endeavor to discover and identify your core area of service, and serve diligently with all your heart, talents and spiritual gifts, as a seasoned functionary in the Lord’s vineyard, devoid of eye service and not pleasers of men. Fixing your gaze on Christ Jesus only. Moreover, not neglecting the gathering of the brethren and strive to do everything in love.

How did you get into writing?

I have no simple answer to this question because of the complexity of the circumstances that activated the passion to write. Suffice to say that, at a certain season in my life, writing became an impulse, an obsession seeking expression, that made me restless. It was then that I realized, I have been called to write, endowed with the scribal anointing to rightly divide the Word, for the propagation of the gospel of Christ, dispensing His sweet fragrance everywhere, to dispel the foul odor of every work of darkness.

How many books have you written?

I have written ten books, though two are yet to be published.

What is the process like for you to write a book?

Each of my work were filtered through the five stages of writing process, which includes: ·The Prewriting Stage ·The Drafting Stage ·The Revising Stage ·The Proof Reading Stage ·The Publishing Stage.

And I can state categorically, it’s gratifying and fulfilling, doing what I love most.

What advice would you give to new writers?

With persistent perseverance in the writing craft, you will excel and overcome the temptation of quitting before your limelight shines.

18 Writers write, therefore, do not wait for inspirations to compose your book, most times the inspiration follows and flows with the discipline, doggedness and determination to write. Above all, your book could be the answer to someone’s prayer and could illumine the darkened souls, with the light of the knowledge of God, and His son Jesus Christ.

What tips do you have for those who want to write but are experiencing writers block or do not know where to start?

Which of your books is your favorite?

I will nominate “Consider Jesus”, because it’s a unique classical Christian book that incorporated the basic concepts and principles of the sciences, literature, mathematics, philosophy, law, theorems, commerce, banking and business studies, with simplified annotated illustrations, in expounding the gospel of Christ Jesus, to the intelligentsia class. I can state clearly that the book “Consider Jesus”, is my Magnum opus, for the time being.

Draw a circle in the middle of a piece of paper and ask the Lord to fill your heart with ideas of what you intend [on] writing, then be still and listen to the hidden man of heart. Write all the ideas deposited in your heart/mind while you are in meditative mode, by the sides of the drawn circle, using an arrow line to differentiate each idea; this is the process of clustering/ Prewriting Stage. Afterwards, filter the ideas through the aforementioned writing process.

To effectively deal with writers' block, take a walk, play some classical music or spiritual songs like hymns. Then sit quietly and be still, the block will gradually dissolve, ideas will pop up, and the vibes of writing will naturally flow.

Where is the line drawn between secular books and Christian books? Do you believe a Christian should write non Christian books?

The central focus of a book, is its distinguishing mark of identity or boundary line. Every book propagate and promote either the principles of the Kingdom of Christ or that of the kingdom of darkness. And this is where we should be boundary sensitive and do the needful by promoting the kingdom of Christ, by bringing every other knowledge that exalts itself, to the obedience of the doctrine of Christ Jesus.

Yeah, a Christian writer could write non Christian books such as academic, research, scientific, political, economic, to mention but a few.

Remember the Bible recorded that Daniel and his Jewish colleagues were ten times better than their Babylonian counterparts, in all sciences, literature and crafts.

My walk with God started in 2014 as the result of a broken heart. God had never spoken to me and one night at church he did and the rest is history. My present walk could be stronger but I get in my own way.

4. How has the 90 Days prayer challenge for future and current spouses impacted your life?

The 90 day prayer for your spouse was full of wisdom and gems for us to look at and evaluate. It showed me the beauty in waiting and how God doesn’t leave us but prepares us for what he wants us to have.

5. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned during the 90 Days challenge?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is WAITING and patiently waiting on God to do what he said he was going to do.

The changes I’ve noticed is how to wait on God with just me and him and not to rush out of desperation or loneliness.

What stood out the most was how Ms. Benjamin was so accurate in prayer and scriptures. She touched every place that I needed to be healed and she did a great job of ministering to us.

These are prayers that I’m praying for my future spouse. I’ve been praying for him even more so this year.

The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

GUARD YOUR HEART Proverbs 4:23, tell us to guard our hearts because out of it flows the spring of life and this is very true. We know this life has many temptations and difficulties, if one is not careful it's easy to become bitter or be lead astray. Our hearts play in role in keeping us in good standing with God. Thus, we must do our best to guard our hearts from anything that can pollute it. Here are three ways in which to guard your heart: 1. Stay close to God. We stay close to God by mediating on His word. The psalmist in Psalm 119:11 says it best, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." When we hide God's word in our hearts we can use it to resist satan and rebuke him when he brings temptations our way. Remember it was the word of God Jesus used to rebuke satan.

2. Be mindful of who you befriend. 1 Corinthians 15:33, warns us to be careful about keeping wrong company because bad company corrupts good morals.

3. Be mindful of what you are watching. Our eyes is a gateway and can lead us into temptation and sin. Matthew 6:22-23

Salad Russe Time Preparation time: 20 Minutes Cooking: 30minutes Ingredients • 3 big potatoes • 2 carrots • 2 Beets • 2 tbsps of mayonnaise • 1 tsp adobo seasoning • 1/4 tsp mustard • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste

Soup Joumou Recipe Directions 1. Boil beets in one pot for 20 minutes or until tender.

2. Boil potatoes and carrots in another pot for 20 to 30 minutes.

3. Peel all vegetables and cut them into dices.

4. Add mayonnaise and season to taste with salt and adobo seasoning.

5. Serve.

In the mighty name of Jesus, I declare this is my year to shine. This is the year for me to access the blessings of God. This is the year for the enemy to release my blessings and return all he has stolen. I declare no weapon formed against me or my family will prosper. I declare the angels of the Lord are ordering my steps and making my path straight. I declare peace, joy, clarity, discernment, wisdom, humility and success are my portion. I declare my family members and I will have a sound mind in 2021. By the blood of Christ, I rebuke depression, anxiety and all manners of emotional instability from me and my family.

I declare blessings upon blessing upon me and my loved ones this year. I declare in the city and the countryside we will be blessed. We declare the favor of God is with us and we have favor with men.

By the power of Christ and the Holy Spirit I command and release angels to fight the devil and his agents on my behalf and my loved ones. I employ the angel of God to destroy every plan of the enemy concerning my life and the lives of my family members. I declare we are sealed and protected by the blood of Jesus Christ, who is the author and finisher of our faith. By the blood of Christ, we are covered from untimely death. By the blood of Christ, we are protected from every device and weapon of the enemy and his agents. By the blood of Christ my family and I are protected from witchcraft and workers of divination. I declare my family will serve the Lord and are moving from glory to glory. I declare my family is whole and prosperous. By the blood of Christ no one and nothing can stop our progress. In Jesus name. Amen!
