GU Emergency Response Medical Services (GERMS) is an FREE ambulance service on campus. If you or a friend needs medical attention, they have an amnesty policy to ensure you are able to seek help without fearofdisciplinaryaction. Hoyas look out for other Hoyas!

Title IX’s site has resources relating to sexual misconduct, discrimination based on sex, and discrimination based on pregnancy, including options for gettingimmediatehelp.

If it’s an emergency, you can contact the Sexual Assault Response Team(SART)bycallingtheGUPDnumber(202-687-4343).

The Metro

WMATA’s Metro system is one of the easiest ways to break the "Georgetown Bubble" and explore the entire DMV! Click here to see different payment options. Your phone's Maps app will also give you directions based on nearby Metros and buses!

Metrobuses

The Metrobus is WMATA’s public bus system (with accessiblility features) that connects to the Metro! The closest one to campus is the C91, but there are many bus lines connecting the DMV! The fare is $2.25, and bus-to-bus transferswithina2-hourperiodarefree.

GUTS Buses

The Georgetown University Transportation Shuttles (GUTS) are free shuttles that take students around the DMV area! The GUTS buses depart from the Bus Turnaround (back of campus) and have routes to Rosslyn, Dupont Circle, the Law Center&CapitolCampus,Arlington,andWisconsinAve!

Apps & Rentals

If necessary, you can use apps like Uber or Lyft to get a ride. For longer trips, you can rent a car using ZipCar or Free2Move. You can also use Capital Bikeshare (check out the Georgetown membership discount) or other micromobilityoptions!

Drink plenty of water, get good sleep, and eat balanced meals!

Try joining intramural sports or clubsports!

Yates Field House has cardio machines, free weights, a track, group fitness classes, McCarthy pool, basketball courts, tennis courts,andmore!

If you're feeling sick and it's not an emergency, visit the Student HealthCenter!

SOCIAL PHYSICAL SPIRITUAL

Put yourself out there – join new clubs, talk to people on your dorm floor, and socialize with peopleinyourclasses!

Become involved with the DC community by volunteering. The Center for Social Justice has manyvolunteeropportunities!

Explore DC with your friends: therearecountlessthingstodo! Multitask! Have study dates or getLeo’swithfriends!

EMOTIONAL

Georgetown's Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) is a useful mental health service –don’thesitatetoreachout!

Health Education Services offers confidential crisis responseservices/consultations. Find stress management and self-care techniques that work foryou!

If you feel homesick, try to call friends or family regularly!

Campus Ministry offers services for numerous faith traditions! They also host a fun overnight retreat called ESCAPE (open to all religious backgrounds) that is onlyavailabletofirst-years!

The John Main Center offers both personal contemplation time and guided Christian meditationsessions.

Attend Chaplain’s Tea (followed byanInterfaithPrayerservice)!

Make sure you set yourself up for success to live with others. Hold conversations, set cleaning expectations, and respect each others’ boundaries (roommates and friends included). Did you catch our tips on how to live with other in Thrive Guide 2? Outside of your room, many spaces across campus offer study, social, and recreationspaces!

DORMLIFE

Make friends in your classes and on your floor! It is helpful to have buddies to go to Leo’s with and compare study notes with! Use planning tools that work best for youand testoutyourdailycadence and routine! Your life on campus is in your hands, schedules compared to high school are all up to you and thiscanbehardtoadjusttoatfirst.

MAPPINGYOURROUTES

Before the first day of classes (FDOC), make sure to walk to your classrooms to map out how much time it takes to get to them from your dorm or from your other classes! You’ll find there seems to always be some construction happening on campus, check out accessible pathways on the campus map which also notes where constructionisoccurring!
