2023 SUMMER CAMP

HELLO CAMPERS!

The time is finally here! Time to make plans for meals over a fire, songs echoing down trails, and friendships that help you grow as a sister to every Girl Scout. It’s time for camp!

At Girl Scout Camp, you have the opportunity to create your own adventure. From horses to archery, kayaking to island swims, join us for a summer of pushing your limits in the beautiful outdoors and growing your confidence to become a leader of tomorrow.

At Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana Camps, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for campers, staff, and volunteers. Our primary goal is to help you explore your interests, grow your skills, and develop confidence that will apply to all areas of your life.

There are so many opportunities this summer for you to find a camp session that will fit your needs and schedule. Whether it’s five days on Lake Dewart at Camp Ella J. Logan or a weekend at Camp Soni Springs, get ready for a summer of fun and a lifetime of memories!

Please note that all session grade levels are according to the grade the girl was in during the 2022-2023 school year.

CAMP SESSIONS

OVERNIGHT CAMP DAY CAMP

Day camp is for girls in kindergarten and above, with activities on three or more consecutive days for four hours or more. The occasional overnight is offered. They participate in activities planned and facilitated by GSNI-M staff and volunteers.

WEEKEND & MINI CAMP

Weekend & Mini Camp includes girls in 1st grade and above, and typically lasts for two days and one overnight. They participate in activities planned and facilitated by GSNI-M staff and volunteers.

Overnight Camp includes girls who have finished 2nd grade and above. Girls camp for 3-14 days and nights (average 5 nights). They participate in activities planned and facilitated by GSNI-M staff.

DAY CAMPS

MCMILLEN DAY CAMP: LET’S GET FESTIVE!

DAY | JUNE 12-16 | K-5

9AM - 4PM

$175 | $50 Add on fee for optional before & after care

Are you ready for a week full of carnival fun?! Week 1 of McMillen Day Camp will be all things fun and games with a dash of the magical and mystical. Campers will engineer rollercoasters, learn how to juggle, create their own carnival games, and explore the science behind optical illusions and magic tricks. Girls will also get to participate in outdoor adventures like archery, low ropes, nature hikes, the zip line, and the climbing wall!

Campers will need to pack lunches Monday-Friday.

We’ll have a family cook-out Friday evening after camp from 4-6pm. Families can explore camp, meet the staff, play games, and enjoy a campfire with hotdogs and s’mores!

MCMILLEN DAY CAMP: FANTASYLAND!

Leap into your favorite fictional worlds and experience superhero training, spend a day at Hogwarts, and assist your favorite fairytale friends in finding their happy endings. Girls will also get to participate in outdoor adventures like archery, low ropes, nature hikes, the zip line, and the climbing wall!

Campers will need to pack lunches Monday-Friday. We’ll have a family cook-out Friday evening after camp from 4-6pm. Families can explore camp, meet the staff, play games, and enjoy a campfire with hotdogs and s’mores!

Get ready for launch in 3, 2, 1, Blast Off! Girl Scouts of all levels are invited to join Community 203 for a cosmic camp experience that is Out of this World! Our spacefaring journey will take place on Planet Soni Springs located in the Milky Way Galaxy. We will experience this camp’s planetary wonder and magic as we swim in Lake Mary, cook over the open fire, sing camp songs while navigating the course to our next destination, and so much more! Our day camp is sure to leave your Girl Scout starry-eyed and full of camp skills that will last a lifetime.

Did we mention transportation to and from camp with centralized pick-up points in Steuben County? Join us for good food, good friends, and good times to remember for years to come, all for $55, only at Camp Lon-I-Daw!

Mini Overnight Camp is the perfect camp for first-time campers or for girls looking to get a taste of everything camp has to offer! Girls will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as swimming, tiedyeing, kayaking, and archery. Add in some all-camp activities, campfires, and s’mores and girls will make memories to last a lifetime! *Girls must have completed first grade to attend this camp.

LOGAN MINI OVERNIGHT CAMP: PONY TAILS

This camp session is more than just pony rides. Girls will experience everything from the parts of the horse to grooming, tacking, and caring for horses. Girls will also have the opportunity to participate in activities such as swimming, tiedyeing, kayaking, and archery. Add in some allcamp activities, campfires, and s’mores and girls will make memories to last a lifetime! *Girls must have completed first grade to attend this camp.

ADAMS COUNTY DAY CAMP: PIRATE ADVENTURE

Yo, ho, ho, mateys! Adventure awaits. Do you have the determination of a pirate? Will the map lead you to the treasure? Will you hike to adventures or walk the plank?

Explore the galley and cook up some grub? Join us for 3 days of pirate fun full of campfires, crafts, hikes, and friendships. Bring a friend or two, or better yet, make a friend at camp! Either way, the memories will last a lifetime. PA/CIT available, please contact the director.

Ever wanted to experience the wonder of Hogwarts, the deliciousness of butter beer, or the excitement of magic classes? This week in the Wizarding World at Camp Soni will provide all those fun activities like house sorting, Patronus classes, and more. This week will be an incredible chance to indulge love for one of the most iconic stories of this generation.

Join us for an amazing magical adventure in a realm of mystical creatures where your imagination will be set free. Soar with a unicorn, swim with a mermaid, and leap with a leprechaun as we embark on a mystical journey through an enchanted fairyland. All of this, while also participating in traditional camp activities such as campfire cooking, swimming, boating, crafts and horseback riding.

Girls will love joining us for Back to Basics camping at Camp Soni! They will practice critical camping skills all weekend long, like fire building and Leave No Trace, and maybe even earn their agelevel Camper badge along the way! Camp fun will also include games, songs, hiking, crafts, outdoor cooking, nature activities, and much more. Sleep out in the cabins and have fun all over camp as we work and play together. See YOU at camp!

Girls who have completed their Counselor-in-Training course and who have completed eighth grade are welcome to join us for Overnight Camp! Share your skills, passions, and experiences with younger Girl Scouts and improve your leadership skills while working with younger campers as they experience camp through hands-on activities.

Girls will need to fill out the verification form to be selected to join us for camp. Counselor-in-Training leaders will join Classic Camp campers and assist the girls with hands-on activities. Wrangler-in-Training leaders are girls who have horse experience and would like to help during Horse Camp.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Choose the camp scholarship or financial aid that you need

The fun, memories, and skills they learn will last a lifetime. Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana believes all girls should experience the benefits camp can provide. Summer camp will be amazing!

If you need additional help to pay for camp, please consider applying for financial assistance. Funds are available for families to cover the cost of camp. Eligibility will be based on need, and assistance will be applied for one camp per girl. Please scan the QR code for the application.

REGISTRATION Refund Policy

HOW TO REGISTER REFUND POLICY

A nonrefundable deposit of $20 (for camps with fees of $125 or below) or $40 (for camps with fees more than $125) is required to hold your spot. If you transfer camps after the last date to register (this date varies by camp), you will be required to pay an additional nonrefundable deposit for the newly chosen camp session.

Several forms must be filled out prior to camp. Check the website for due dates for these documents. You can access camp forms by clicking on the Camp Resources tab at gsnim.org. In addition to a health form, you will find an adventure agreement, horseriding agreement, camp-specific information and packing lists.

You will receive an automated balance-due reminder. Camp balances are due June 1 or, if you register after June 1, at the time of registration.

Register early—spots fill up fast!

A full refund will be given if:

•The application for financial assistance is denied or insufficient funds are granted.

•The program or session is canceled.

A partial refund will be given if:

•The camper becomes ill or injured and the Council is notified two weeks before the session check-in with a written statement from a physician. The program fee minus the nonrefundable deposit will be refunded.

•The family unexpectedly moves out of the area.

•There is a family emergency (for example, a family death or medical emergency, to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).

If you transfer camps after the last date to register (this date varies by camp), you will be required to pay an additional nonrefundable deposit for the newly chosen camp session.

No refund will be given and the entire amount will be retained if a camper does not show up, does not pass the health and wellness screening, or leaves early due to illness, homesickness, parental request, or demonstration of disregard toward camp policies.
