Camp SESSION DESCRIPTIONS GRADES 3-5 S’more Fun: Looking to get a taste of all that Camp Blue Bay has to offer?

Look no more. This session gives campers a chance to try all of our favorite camp activities: swimming, boating, cookouts, singing, games, arts and crafts, and making new friends.

Mermaid Tails: Dive into finding your inner mermaid with a week of water fun. Spend some extra time exploring the bay, swimming, fishing, and building sand castles. Let’s not forget a special “floating” lunch on the creek. After you dry off, get ready to enjoy all the other camp activities!

Nature Navigators: Do you love exploring the outdoors? Well camp is the place! Learn how to build a fire, navigate with a compass, and craft with camp’s natural materials.

During the week, you will also enjoy all the other camp activities.

Let’s Get Crafty: This summer, think outside of the crayon box!

Explore different types of art: painting, drawing, designing jewelry, and making your own clay! After you’ve cleaned off your paintbrushes, there will be plenty of time to enjoy all of the other camp activities.

Sugar and Spice: Are you a firsttime cook? Or do you love helping

out in the kitchen? Either way try out some new recipes at camp! Learn how to cook and bake over a campfire and in the kitchen. When you’re done enjoying your treats, it’s time to hit the trail and get a taste of all the other traditional camp activities.

Fairy-tale Fun: Live like a princess for a week in the Troop House!

Take part in a PJ fashion show, practice being a mermaid at the bay and bake for your princess tea party.

Don’t worry there’s plenty of time to enjoy all the other camp activities!

GRADES 6-8 Fun in the Sun: Thinking you would like to try everything? This session includes a selection of all your favorite camp activities: swimming, boating, cookouts, arts and crafts, sports and games. Experience the outdoors while meeting new friends.

H-2-wOah: If in doubt, paddle it out at the creek! Grab your beach gear and head to the waterfront to enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, making sandcastles, and a polar bear swim before breakfast—all with time left for traditional Camp Blue Bay activities.

Wander Woman: Come and refine your outdoor skills at camp!

Learn to use a compass, cook over a fire, shoot an arrow and work as a

team on the ropes course. Enjoy the sounds of nature and sleep under the stars. During this week, you will also explore all other camp activities.

Express Yourself: During this creative week, spend time expressing yourself through art, playing improv games, and participating in a camp-wide lip sync competition!

Don’t worry, there will be plenty of time for all your other favorite camp activities, too.

Together We Can: Bring along your team spirit and spend a week playing sports, learning new games, focusing on team building initiatives and working together at the ropes course. There’s still plenty of time to have fun participating in all the other Camp Blue Bay activities.

Creative Cooking: Hungry for fun? Spend your week learning to use different cooking and baking techniques. Learn to bake in a box oven, cook over a fire, or how to use a solar oven! Once you’ve had your snack, get ready to enjoy all the other camp activities.

Green Thumb: Spend time this week in the great outdoors: gardening, learning about camps environment, and making crafts using recycled materials and objects found in nature. There will also be time for traditional camp activities.

Experiment and Explore: Grab your magnifying glasses and get excited to brainstorm, experiment, and explore the outdoors. Build a shelter, stargaze, shoot arrows, and learn the science behind it! There will be plenty of time to enjoy everything else camp has to offer.

Spa-rageous: Get ready for a week of relaxation at CBB. Enjoy making crafts like pillows and candles, doing yoga at the bay, and baking some sweet treats for a special hair and nails party in the Troop House. Don’t forget there is still plenty of time for traditional Camp Blue Bay activities while you’re here.

GRADES 9-11 Girls Want Fun: Girls like to have a say in what they do at camp. All sessions start with a first night planning meeting to design a unique week for the group. The possibilities are endless: swimming, boating, night hikes, sleeping late, dancing, sports, arts and crafts, or stargazing. Don’t forget there’s plenty of time for the traditional Camp Blue Bay activities: cookouts, campfires, singing, games and all camp programs.

Night Owls: During this TWO-WEEK session, girls will be able to plan and design a special program for the group,

as well as make individual choices.

The possibilities are endless: swimming, sailing (dependent on swimming ability), night hikes, sleeping late, dancing, sports, arts and crafts, stargazing, and sleeping under the stars. Also don’t forget, there’s plenty of time for the traditional Camp Blue Bay activities.

Bake and Create: Grab your spatulas and paintbrushes for a week of cooking and creativity! Take on the ultimate baking challenge by creating a dessert like no other. Afterward, document your fun in an awesome CBB scrapbook. All that and there’s still plenty of time to enjoy your favorite camp activities.

Down by the Bay: Set sail for a week of fun at the beach. Spend time at the bay swimming, sailing (dependent on swimming ability), playing beach games, fishing, and having a beach barbeque! After you dry off, get ready to enjoy all the other camp activities.

Fireflies: Grab your flashlight and enjoy some time with the fireflies this session. Spend the week going on a night hike, stargazing, and taking some time at night to relax and unwind in the Troop House. During the day there will be time for boating, baking, swimming, and other Camp Blue Bay activities.

Perhaps a week at camp is too long, or maybe you just want to give it a try! Then, our Mini sessions are just for you! Board the bus and enjoy four days and three nights of fun and adventure at Camp Blue Bay. Campers will stay indoors in a Troop House. Experience all we have to offer. Swimming, boating, arts and crafts, games, and campfires are just a few of the many activities available.

This two-week Counselor-in-Training for Girl Scout Ambassadors will allow you to complete an outdoor leadership course while observing and assisting counselors at camp. There will be time for training as well as an opportunity to work directly with younger campers. Participants will live in a tent unit and work together as part of the 2020 CIT Team. To be considered for this program, interested girls must complete the application process and have a personal interview. This training is limited to 12 participants.

Camp Aide Training If you enjoy the outdoors and like working with younger girls, consider becoming a Camp Blue Bay Camp Aide. Pack your lunch and join us for a leadership training that will prepare you to work with younger girls at camp.

This training will include a variety of hands-on activities and role playing.

After the successful completion of this training, you can apply to volunteer for one week at Camp Blue Bay. There is a cost of $200 to volunteer at Camp Blue Bay which includes cost of transportation and all meals. Be sure to register quickly, training is limited to 16 participants. A confirmation, including additional information will be mailed to you.

HEALTH INFORMATION Camp Blue Bay campers are required to submit a Health Examination Form including physical and immunization dates to be completed by a physician. Parents will need to upload the forms and complete a health history online using CampDoc.com.

BRING A FRIEND REBATE Returning campers can receive a $25 rebate for referring a friend who has never attended Camp Blue Bay before.

Rebate checks will be issued at the end of the summer.

CAMP POlicies EXPECTATIONS A Camper Code of Conduct is included in the registration process. Please review the camp guidelines with your camper before registering, so everyone understands the expectations. Both parent/guardian and camper signatures are required on this document to register for camp.

Note: Our camp is an electronic-free zone. No cell phones or tablets permitted.

REFUND POLICY The $50 per session deposit will not be refunded or transferred after camp registration is confirmed. The balance of the fee will be refunded only if the camper does not attend due to illness or injury that is confirmed by a physician’s letter. No refunds will be made if a camper cancels, arrives late, leaves early, or does not attend the entire session for any reason.

camp blue bay summer adventures troop camping Feel a little nervous about camping?

Not sure it’s your thing, but your troop is excited and the girls would love to camp together in the summertime?

Not to worry, we have the solution.

Summer Adventures allows your troop to take advantage of the activities offered at summer camp, including swimming, boating, nature, arts and crafts, campfires and more. We make it easy. Once registered, we will design a program especially for your troop. Troops only need to have one adult for every 8 girls attending, and no training is required.

When you arrive, a summer staff member will greet you, assist your group in settling in, and be with you throughout your stay to guide you through the activities. No need to worry about food as all meals will be served in the Dining Hall. Accommodations are in tents (4 girls per tent) or dormitory style indoors (12 girls to a room).

TRADITIONAL TROOP CAMPING

Troop Camping has been part of the Girl Scout Experience since its inception.

Camping is fun and a great way to build new skills and develop a deeper appreciation for nature with your friends.

Traditional Troop Camping is planned and carried out by a group of girls and their camptrained volunteers/leaders.

Girls help decide what activities they want to do, what they want to eat, and what new skills or adventures they want to try while at camp.

Registration is ongoing by season. Tent units and Troop Houses are available spring and fall; Troop Houses are also available in the winter.

Outdoor Training for Adults Training is provided to help Girl Scout volunteers prepare themselves and the girls to enjoy outdoor experiences together. Training will introduce progression in the out-of-doors, review camp facilities, and provide basic skills for outdoor programs. Under the guidance of trained and enthusiastic adults, girls may take their first hike, build their first campfire, and sleep under the stars for the first time. This training is required for a troop to participate in Traditional Troop Camping at Camp Blue Bay. For more information and to register for this training, visit gsnc.org.

Camp Resources Camp Blue Bay has a variety of resources available to help make your visit to camp a fun and easy experience for both you and the girls that you work with.

Rental Kits Can you imagine arriving at Camp Blue Bay with your troop and the cooking gear you need is already at your site? You can arrange to rent a cooking set, dish and silverware set, and/or beverage set. Visit gsnc.org for the Equipment Flyer and Rental Form.

Safety First For your convenience, you will find basic First Aid Kits positioned all around the camp: Tent units, Troop Houses, Activity Building and Dining Hall.

Camp Kits Compass, knots, and nature kits are available to borrow at no cost.

Enjoy teaching your girls important outdoor skills.

Fun Things to Do On the sports field, girls will enjoy the Gaga Pit, Nine Square in the Air, and a variety of other sports: volleyball, soccer, basketball, tetherball to name a few. Jump ropes, frisbees, and hula hoops are also available for a day of fun and physical activities.

Badge Workshops for Traditional Troop Camping Schedule a Camp Blue Bay Badge Workshop to have one of our instructors guide your girls through completing a badge of their choice.

Cost: $12.00 per girl (minimum of 10 girls per workshop). For badge options and information visit gsnc.org for the Girl Scout Badge Workshop Flyer and Interest Form.

It’s Spring! So time to rake leaves, clear paths, spread wood chips and plant some beautiful flowers at Camp Blue Bay. Is your troop looking to earn some service hours? Join us to lend a hand sprucing up camp while enjoying time in the outdoors.

Give some time Saturday morning completing the projects then get to treat yourself to a fun-filled afternoon. After the work is done, it’s time to make a beautiful spring craft and pamper yourself.

Open to Junior, Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador troops with appropriate coverage and individual adult volunteers. No camp training required.

Parent/Child Overnight

Calling all first time campers! Interested in experiencing camp but not sure where to start? Join us and board the bus to Camp Blue Bay for our Taste of Camp Troop Overnight.

Pack your overnight bag, lunch and a sense of adventure to enjoy the sounds of nature and try new things.

Take part in a variety of traditional camp activities! Then finish the day with a pizza party dinner and singing around the campfire.

August 29-30, 2020 or September 12-13, 2020

No training is required but there will be a pre-planning meeting for one adult from each troop at the Girl Scout Service Center to get ready for the event.

If you and your daughter(s) cherish quality time together, this is the perfect opportunity for you. At the Parent/Child Overnight, you may choose to take part in a variety of planned camp activities Saturday morning, then enjoy a local attraction, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings of East Hampton for the afternoon.

Bring along your lunch for Saturday.

Dinner, evening snack and Sunday breakfast will be served in the (Continued) Dining Hall.

Introduction to Outdoor Survival Weekend October 2-4, 2020 Spend your day learning how to start a fire, cook outdoors and build a shelter!

Explore the Camp Blue Bay property while practicing the Leave No Trace principles and discussing our role in the ecosystem out at camp.

Open to Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador troops with appropriate coverage.

Spend the day Saturday enjoying the great outdoors; take a hike to the beach, play some games, and create a fall decoration. After dinner, it’s time to get festive! Paint a pumpkin, take part in some fall carnival games, and end the night with songs and s’mores around the campfire.
