PTRC - Issue 3

Patent & Trademark Resource Center

Understanding patents and trademarks can be confusing. It is a challenge to patent an invention and to trademark a product or service. PTRCs provide the expertise to help you use search tools to access patent and trademark information. Find out more about PTRC training sessions and resources here on this site. The Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) at Georgia Southern Libraries is headquarted at the Zack S. Henderson Library on the main (second) floor of the Research Services Department in Statesboro, Georgia. For those unable to visit Henderson Library, Zoom meetings and phone chats are also available. PTRC librarians can:

  • Provide you access to patent and trademark research databases.

  • Direct you to related information and explain a patent or trademark application process.

  • Demonstrate how to use research tools for you to conduct a patent or trademark search.

  • Show you a directory of patent attorneys who are licensed to practice before the US Patent & Trademark Office.

  • Offer you instruction on intellectual property and related subjects. Provide assistance on how to initiate historical research on patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

  • Show you how to track research on company or nonprofit organizations.

  • Help you locate assignee information for intellectual properties and much more.
