Midland Texas and East Denver, Colorado come

out Swinging!

In May we were completely blown away by the grand openings at our 2 newest franchise locations! These celebrations are always an important milestone for our Franhisees as they get to see their vision come to fruition.

Brad and Jeanette Swift kicked off the month with a fabulous grand opening in Midland, TX, on May 9th. Their showroom is nothing short of stunning, and the addition of live music created a fantastic atmosphere. We are confident that our partners in West Texas are poised for great success!

On May 23rd, Derrick Stevens and Neide Fehrenbacher hosted an equally amazing grand opening in Denver, CO. The event drew a large crowd, including fellow Franchisees Reid and Suzanna Leland, who traveled from Salt Lake City to support their friends. The wide array of delicious food delighted everyone, and we eagerly anticipate the achievements that Derrick and Neide will bring to the table.

Our Corporate team, along with representatives from both cities' local Chambers of Commerce, were on hand at both events to support the new businesses. These grand openings were unforgettable, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for these fantastic franchises!

Generator Supercenter of Upstate new York shines as this Month’s Featured franchise

Generator Supercenter of Upstate New York, located in Rochester, has been spotlighted as this month's Featured Franchise. The franchise is owned by three dedicated partners: Tony Hettinger, Rob Williams, and Jess Rawleigh. Tony, the captain of the ship, oversees daily operations, while Jess handles sales appointments and supervises the sales team. Rob manages their partnership with Lowes and fills in as needed.

Tony and Jess worked together for over 15 years at Tony’s former business, Invisible Fence, and Rob and Tony have been friends for more than a decade after spending many seasons coaching youth hockey teams together. When the opportunity arose to open New York State’s first Generator Supercenter Franchise, Rob and Jess eagerly joined Tony in his venture, becoming an integral part of the GSC family.

Their collective efforts and dedication led GSC of Upstate New York to receive the 2023 Outstanding Operations award. For more insights into the inner workings of their successful franchise, check out our interview with Tony Hettinger.

Q. How did you first hear about Generator Supercenter?

A Duncan Clark brought it to our attention after being bought out of our Invisible Fence business, then I received a call from Doug Dixon and the rest is history.

Q. What was the primary selling factor that influenced you to Franchise with us?

A. The similarity from our IF business in sales, service & installation of a product to a customer along with believing in the future of the GSC brand.

Q. What areas of your past professional experiences do you consider helpful in operating a GSC?

A. Everything, the ability to hire, train & retain good,

quality employees makes all the difference in our success. Having owned a successful similar business for 20 years certainly lessened the learning curve and gave us a head start.

Q. GSC of Upstate New York won our Outstanding Operationsawardfor2023. Pleasetell mehowyou are able to manage and create such a smooth sailing ship. What extra spark are you all adding to the process to keep it running so well?

A. We run a tight ship here at GSC of Upstate, as the Captain of the ship its my job to make sure everyone is adhering to and following the process every day and to make sure they stay on the path to success. Our team members all have the same mentality, let’s do it right the 1st time and let’s be the best at what we do!

Q. We wouldn’t be anywhere if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication of our teams. Please tell us about your team in New York.

A. Our team is what makes us success, they understand it’s a job but they treat it like its more than a job, its family. We have each other’s back (continued)

“It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.”

day in and day. We have had the same staff for almost 2 years minus 1 bad apple. They show up to work on time and are ready, willing with a positive attitude and are committed to the success of GSC of Upstate.

Q. What was is the biggest obstacle you faced getting GSC of Upstate NY off the ground? And, how did you overcome it?

A. Finding a location was the biggest challenge for us, trying to find the showroom / warehouse all in one wasn’t available so we went with a showroom in a prime location and a separate warehouse 1/3 mile down the road.

Q. Do you have any “getting started” advice or lessons learned you wish to share to newer franchisees?

A. Come prepared to learn and work everyday. You will get out of GSC what you put into it. It won’t be easy but it will be worth it.

Q. In what ways do you and your team actively contribute to fulfilling the mission statement of Generator Supercenter?

A. We strive daily to give people the peace of mind of owning a Generac Home Standby generator while being the best company in the Rochester area. In a short 2 years of business, we have made our 2 largest competitors alter how they conduct business.

Generator Supercenter Launches Targeted Marketing Campaign in Houston

In May, Generator Supercenter (GSC) of Tomball introduced a new marketing strategy in the Houston area. The idea emerged when one of our employees, who owns a generator, received numerous inquiries from curious neighbors. Management saw an opportunity and decided to target the neighborhood directly.

Houston's marketing team organized a Community Blitz event, complete with a targeted flyer aimed specifically at this neighborhood. These flyers were distributed to the Homeowners Association (HOA) and shared amongst residents, both through physical copies and neighborhood forums. The goal was to generate interest and drive business for GSC.

The Community Blitz concept involves reaching out to an entire neighborhood in one coordinated effort, offering a special discount to those who participate. This concentrated approach is designed to maximize impact and engagement within the community.

Check out the example flyer below to see how a Community Blitz is structured. It might be an effective strategy to consider for your area!
