One afternoon, a simple conversation between Matt Metcalfe and Steve Cruise sparked a powerful idea. They noticed how many months were dedicated to different causes and promotions and thought, why not a month just for generators? As July approached, that idea quickly evolved into something even more meaningful: a celebration of Freedom. Not just for a day, but for the entire month. And so, FreedomfromtheGridwas born.
At Generator Supercenter, we believe everyone deserves independence, security, and peace of mind, especially when it comes to their power. And what better time to celebrate that than in July, a month already rich with patriotic pride?
With our deep respect and unwavering support for veterans and first responders, those who fight daily to protect our freedom, the campaign’s mission became clear. As we honor freedom this July, we’re giving new customers a special gift: boxes packed with 100% American-made goodies, a token of gratitude and a celebration of self-reliance.
Because Freedom from the Grid isn’t just a catchy phrase, it’s a movement. And it starts with you.
Here’s the big question: HOW and WHY should you utilize the "Freedom Month" promo?
Freedom Month is a completely different marketing style for franchises, and offers the opportunity for your sales team to physically put something in the customers hands when they meet them. During the entire month of July, every customer that purchases a generator receives a Generator Supercenter Freedom box. The boxes can be ordered in advance in May and June every year on the HUB. There is also a wide variety of ready-made marketing assets available to go along with the Freedom Theme. The whole package is built out and ready to be used. If you missed your chance to order boxes this year, and still want to participate, Freedom Hats are an available substitute to order and ship quickly.
To help increase leads across the country, marketing teams work hard to provide new solutions that will get results. While we know “No one is going to buy a generator because I give them some swag” is a common thought, we have experienced significant success with this program. Calling to talk about the promotion gives you a reason to revisit old leads and can open communication for service should the customer have already purchased a generator from another company
Freedom Month also sparks a wave of Patriotic energy across social media. For participating locations, it’s more than just a promotional event, it’s a creative catalyst. Stores now have a compelling reason to amplify their presence online.
Rather than relying solely on polished marketing graphics, team members are sharing real photos—genuine moments from homes and snapshots of customer interactions This organic content fosters a stronger connection with local audiences, inviting them to experience the heart of the business, not just the brand.
By spotlighting real people and real moments, Freedom Month is building real engagement, and in today’s contentsaturated world, that authenticity is a powerful differentiator.
June marked a banner month for Generator Supercenter as we celebrated several new Grand Openings from coast to coast each one filled with excitement, community, and forward momentum.
We kicked things off in a true NewYorkStateof Mind with the Grand Opening of Generator Supercenter of The Hudson Valley. Friends, family, and local community members gathered to commemorate the occasion. Owners, Robert Colon and Jessica Figueroa stood proudly with their loved ones as the ceremonial ribbon was cut to cheers and applause. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in their region The day was filled with smiles, celebration, and optimism.
Just a week later, the excitement traveled to the Pacific Northwest, where Generator Supercenter of Puget Sound hosted its Grand Opening near Seattle, Washington. Owners, Tyson O’Neill and Chantel Keller, seasoned entrepreneurs with a strong footprint in the region, welcomed guests to their modern and inviting showroom. With their experience and local connections, success is already in the forecast for this dynamic duo.
From the Northwest, we head down to the Sunshine State to the soft launch of Generator Supercenter of Ocala, owned by Manish and Harleen Gupta. Located in the heart of the state, Ocala represents a high-demand area in Florida that has long awaited a Generator Supercenter presence. With this soft launch, GSC is now poised to begin selling to Central Florida customers.
Each of these new locations features a beautifully designed showroom, passionate ownership, and a shared mission to empower their communities through reliable energy solutions.
Congratulations to all of our Franchisees and your teams — we can’t wait to see the incredible impact you’ll make!
Technicians at several locations have encountered startup issues with the rollout of the new 410 PowerZone generators.
To ensure effective communication across the GSC network, we ask that every issue and its corresponding solution be reported in one, or both, of the following ways.
1 Posting your findings on the Generator Supercenter Tech Facebook page ran by Robin Harrell or
2.Email them directly to Jack Zernia at Jz@generatorsupercenter.com .
Here are three common issues people are seeing and the correct way to fix the issues:
➡️ 32 KW Units – Customer Connection WEGO Blocks are coming mis-wired from the factory. The 2-wire start wires and low voltage wires are coming crisscrossed and need to be flipped so the wires match.

➡️ The DC Alternator is coming in with the Ground Wire unhooked. The best place to ground is shown in image 2, but you can ground anywhere on the case that the wire will reach.
➡️ Field Boost wire 49 landed on the wrong terminal. It needs to be flipped over to the Crossbar section of the ‘T’.
Please share this information with your crews as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your support as we work through these initial challenges together.

June at Generator Supercenter brought a wellbalanced blend of hard work and good times.
Mike Llanez spent time at GSC of Midland, where he jumped in to help Lead Technician Matt Mills with some fieldwork. Together, they completed a full maintenance service on a 30-KW generator, installed a monitor, and tackled a gas issue the unit was having. Aftertroubleshooting andresolvingthe problem, they were able to successfully test the generator on the home.
GSCofLakeCountryhitthegolfcoursethismonth, sponsoring a hole at a local tournament. As part of their sponsorship package, they received a foursome of golf. Owner Mark Allen and his team were joined by Derik Gatzke, Jeremy Blank, and Jayson Eschrich from our Corporate office in Wisconsin. It turned out to be a great day of networking and a smart marketing move for their store.
Field Manager Shane McManamy visited with Manish Guptaat thesoftopening ofhis newCentral Florida location. It was a proud moment as the newest GSC store begins its journey.
Houston sales reps Jason Stoops and Matt Reeves traveledtotheFortMyers/Sarasotalocationtohelp build momentum at an already successful franchise. After sitting down with Owner Grant Smith and Sales Manager Ted Speerschneider, they focused on improving conversion with a simple but impactful shift in approach. Ted began asking, “What can we do to earn your business today?” during consultations, creating a stronger sense of urgency. Even when customers didn’t commit on the spot, they reframed promotions as limited-time signup bonuses (valid for just 48-72 hours) to encourage quicker decisions. Jason and Matt also joined new sales reps on appointments, helping guide their pitches, demonstrating key techniques, and reinforcing what sets GSC apart from competitors. Their visit made an immediate impact - not just in training, but in reviews. In just two weeks, the Fort Myers location gained 36 new Google reviews, pushing their rating up from 4.3 up to 4.7!
From field support to franchise growth and community outreach, June showcased the teamwork and momentum driving GSC forward. With every visit, and event, we continue to build something stronger - together.
