Retirement of Ronnie Boyd leads to changes for GSC of Greenville
As announced in the Q2 call, Ronnie Boyd, our esteemed Franchisee in Greenville, SC, has decided to retire. Generator Supercenter Inc. has acquired GSC of Greenville, making it our first East Coast corporate location.
We are pleased that Ronnie’s team has transitioned seamlessly and will all continue on as valued GSC employees. Ronnie speaks highly of his experience with Generator Supercenter and wanted to share the following message with all of you:
“As you may already know, my time at GSC is winding down. This is definitely bittersweet but I’m very excited about my next move. I will miss working with you all.

It is dubbed "live - library" because it is continuously updated and expanded. We are pleased to announce that the Generator Supercenter Library is currently undergoing a comprehensiverevamptomakeitmoreuserfriendly and facilitate quicker access to the information you need. The updated library is expectedtobecompletedwithinthenextfew weeks.
Another valuable feature of Franconnect is the Training Module. This portal is continuously being developed, with new videos added as they become available. We are excited to introduce our newest addition: the Service Tech Maintenance Training course. This course guides your service technicians through many steps of a yearly maintenancevisit.Weencourageyoutohave your teams log in and watch these videos to ensure your franchise is consistently implementing Generator Supercenter’s best practices in the field every day.

TheGeneratorSupercenterFranchiseOperations Team has been upping their game over the last year adding new positions, people and procedures to better support our franchises. With the ever evolving business we are in, constant change and the ability to pivot has become imperative to ensure we lead you all to success.
Among the newly established roles is that of the FranchiseOnboardingManager.KenDevine,who joinedthe team in September 2023,collaborates closely with the Operations team to review and enhance the onboarding process for new franchise partners. Today, we have the opportunity to speak with Ken Devine himself about his role and the improvements being made to support franchise partners.
Q - Ken, please tell us about some of the new things the support team is doing and how it is beneficial to our Franchises.
A – The initial task involved rolling out a restructured Opening Checklist aligned with the expectations set forth in the Franchise Agreements. This new checklist focuses on front-loading tasks related to securing a location, addressing the critical bottleneck of not having an address early in the process. Tasks are now organized on weekly intervals, and we have implemented weekly meetings with new franchise owners to ensure they achieve their weekly goals.
Additionally, we have introduced robust new documentation available in both checklist format and the FranConnect library. Our aim is to provide documents with clearer instructions and visuals to assist franchisees more effectively. For example, there are updated site selection documents and a modernized build scope. These enhancements are designed to streamline the process, ensuring a timely and successful Grand Opening for all franchise partners.
The team has collaboratively developed a comprehensive vendor relations program for both mandatory and recommended vendors. This program includes organized meet-andgreet sessions to ensure you have timely access to the appropriate support.
Finally, we have pulled more members of the Corporate GSC team into the opening process to maximize their skill sets New franchisees will engage with representatives from every department as needed during the weekly
meetings. By the time they are ready to start selling generators, they will have established clear points of contact for all their needs.
Q - What would be the best advice you could give to a new Franchisee who is just getting started?
A –Align with our broker, Newmark, and streamline your location search. It is crucial to initiate brand awareness efforts immediately upon securing your location. Establish your presence in the community by participating in local events. Early branding activities will enhance the impact of your opening marketing spend. Another important step is to lean on our team and Ask Questions, ASK Questions ASK QUESTIONS!
Wefollowedourownadviceandconsultedwith our franchisees to identify ways to improve the process. Many of their suggestions have been implemented. Therefore, if you have an idea, please share it with us.
Q- Are there any Final thoughts you would like to share?
A – I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the leadership team at GSC for their unwavering support and commitment to ensuring that what we offer our franchises is first-class.
