A new landmark in Veneto healthcare is on the way: Cortina Hospital is being redeveloped. The centre aspires to an example of international best practice, under the guidance - since October 2019 - of its new owner, GVM Care & Research, a network that owns 32 structures in Italy - including 23 hospitals - and 12 clinics in France, Poland, Albania and Russia. “Cortina d’Ampezzo, where the lifestyle is already healthy and in close contact with nature, is confirmed as an island of wellness”, explains Massimo Rocchi, managing director of Cortina hospital. “In the heart of the Dolomites, far from large cities, we’re developing a genuine provincial hub which will dialogue with local healthcare services and the hospital of Belluno”. The Codivilla pavilion will be completed by September 2022, with overall completion of the work by 2025. “At the end of the work - says Ettore Sansavini, founder, president and general manager of GVM Care & Research - the hospital will have 150 beds, 3 operating theatres, an emer-

gency department and an intensive Sub Therapy unit for

respiratory illnesses. While the Codivilla pavilion will receive acute patients and be an essential element of the emergency care network, the Putti pavilion in the projects provides spaces for rehabilitation, early diagnosis and sports medicine programmes”. “We offer ‘health-based’ holidays - says Dr Rocchi - for those wishing to enjoy a break in the mountains without sacrificing the healthcare assistance they need, with packages geared to wellness and prevention, complete with check-ups and personalised courses of treatment. There will be a particular focus on orthopaedics, strengthening some of the hospital’s original areas of expertise, such as the treatment of osteomyelitis”. Another outstanding feature of the centre is its ability to coordinate with local stakeholders: “It’s partly dictated by the history of the hospital, which was already a centre for heliotherapy in the 1920s, and has always promoted the combination of medical interventions and the utter beauty of a landscape that ‘cures’ mind and body and facilitates a healthy lifestyle”. Un nuovo fiore all’occhiello della sanità veneta sta nascendo: è l’Ospedale Cortina, in fase di ristrutturazione. La struttura si candida come best practice internazionale, sotto la guida – da ottobre 2019 – della nuova proprietà, il gruppo GVM Care & Research, un network che conta 32 strutture in Italia - di cui 23 ospedali - e 12 centri clinici tra Francia, Polonia, Albania e Russia. “Cortina d’Ampezzo, dove già si sperimenta uno stile di vita sano e a contatto con la natura, si riconferma un’isola di benessere”, spiega Massimo Rocchi, AD Ospedale Cortina. “Nel cuore delle Dolomiti, lontano dai grandi centri urbani, si sviluppa un vero hub provinciale, che dialogherà con i servizi territoriali e con l’ospedale di Belluno”. Il padiglione Codivilla sarà ultimato entro settembre 2022, mentre i lavori complessivi si concluderanno entro il 2025. “Al termine dei lavori - precisa Ettore Sansavini fondatore, presidente e amministratore delegato di GVM Care & Research - l’ospedale avrà 150 letti, 3 camere operatorie,

un pronto soccorso e un reparto di Terapia Sub intensiva

per malattie respiratorie. Se il padiglione Codivilla accoglierà i pazienti acuti e sarà uno snodo fondamentale della rete di emergenza, il padiglione Putti nei progetti prevede i percorsi di recupero, la diagnostica precoce, i programmi di medicina sportiva”. “Proponiamo una ‘vacanza in salute’ - racconta il Dott. Rocchi - per chi desidera godersi un periodo di riposo in montagna senza rinunciare all’assistenza sanitaria di cui potrebbe avere bisogno, con pacchetti orientati al benessere e alla prevenzione, completi di check-up e percorsi personalizzabili. Particolare attenzione verrà data all’ambito ortopedico, potenziando anche alcune competenze ‘storiche’ dell’istituto, come il trattamento dell’osteomielite”. Altro punto di forza della struttura, la capacità di fare rete con gli stakeholder della località: “Ce lo impone anche la storia dell’ospedale, già istituto elioterapico negli anni ’20, che da sempre valorizza il connubio tra gli interventi assistenziali e medici e l’assoluta bellezza di un territorio che ‘cura’ il corpo e la mente e favorisce uno stile di vita sano”.
