A major exhibition inaugurates the season of the Contini Art Gallery in Cortina. Following the success of nell’Infinito dell’Arte, a solo show by Korean-born sculptor Park Eun Sun in the Venice gallery, the exhibition has come to Cortina. A complex, multifaceted artist whose work investigates the very essence of the human being, his evolution, his growth, and his weaknesses. Park creates dynamic sculptures in which he works the material - especially stone - by alternating two colours and stratifying them in an upward movement, as in the case of his twisted, spiral-shaped columns which seem to pursue infinity, or his interlinked spherical compositions that resemble the vital flow of DNA. An energetic artistic production, just like the nature of the man, in which however we can find a common trait - a wound, a rift. In fact, marble and granite are shaped, smoothed, then deconstructed, cracked and reassembled. The ‘lacerations’ flow on fluid surfaces, like scars that symbolize suffering, and allow the observer to connect with the artist. An example of this is Colonna Infinita - Accrescimento I (2020), present in the exhibition, a pillar in white marble and grey epoxy that, whirling in on itself, extends upwards with a supple and continuous movement that seems not to want to stop. The silky, cold surface is entirely crossed by a fracture that creates plays of chiaroscuro, of shadows and light, juxtapositions of voids and solids that capture the gaze and seem to spur the observer to investigate the interior, thus discovering its more intimate, personal aspect. In Park Eun Sun’s work there are thus two levels of interpretation - the strength of marble and stone, the majesty of sculpture, but also the fragility of the human being and the sensitivity of the artist in grasping it. With this exhibition, the Contini Gallery, founded in Venice in 1979 by Stefano Contini and present in Cortina with two locations for over 30 years, confirms itself as an attentive interpreter of the most innovative languages of contemporary art. Una grande mostra inaugura la stagione della Galleria d’arte Contini a Cortina: dopo il successo di nell’Infinito dell’Arte, personale dello scultore di origine coreana Park Eun Sun nella sede di Venezia, la mostra arriva a Cortina. Un artista complesso, ricco di sfaccettature che indaga con il suo lavoro l’essenza stessa dell’essere umano, il suo evolversi, la sua crescita, le sue debolezze… Quella di Park è una scultura dinamica nella quale la materia, specialmente la pietra, viene lavorata alternando due colori, stratificandoli in un’ascesa verso l’alto come nel caso delle sue colonne torte e dalla forma a spirale che, sviluppandosi in altezza, sembrano perseguire l’infinito; o ancora le sue composizioni sferiche concatenate che sembrano generare un vitale flusso di DNA. Una produzione artistica energica dinamica, proprio come è la natura dell’uomo, in cui si rintraccia però un tratto comune: una ferita, una spaccatura. Il marmo e il granito vengono infatti plasmati, levigati, poi destrutturati, crepati e riassemblati. Le ‘lacerazioni’ scorrono sulle superfici fluide, come delle cicatrici che simboleggiano la sofferenza, e permettono all’osservatore di entrare in contatto con l’artista. Ne è un esempio Colonna Infinita - Accrescimento I (2020), presente in mostra: un pilastro in marmo bianco e epoxy grigio che, vorticando su sé stesso si prolunga verso l’alto con un movimento flessuoso e continuo che sembra non volersi arrestare. La superficie setosa e fredda è interamente percorsa da una frattura che crea giochi di chiaro-scuri, di ombre e di luci, di vuoti e di pieni che catturano lo sguardo e sembrano spronare l’osservatore ad indagarne l’interno scoprendone così l’espetto più intimo e personale. Nel lavoro di Park Eun Sun si individuano così due livelli di lettura: la forza del marmo e della pietra, la maestosità della scultura, ma anche la fragilità dell’essere umano e la sensibilità dell’artista nel coglierla.
