What’s the origin of Sentieri d’Arte, the annual art event around the forest trails of Cortina?

It’s a combination of several things. Art is a family tradition and part of my studies; for some time I’d been wanting to do a project that would combine by love for Cortina and my passion for Land Art. And this became possible when I met the artist Alessandro Ferri and the curator Fulvio Chimento, so along with the Regole d’Ampezzo we started Sentieri d’Arte. It’s an exhibition that takes place among the trees in the forests of Cortina: as time passes, the artworks are swallowed up by the vegetation. As we can see on the Pian de ra Spines trail, the site of the event that’s just finished, or the Gores de Federa, which hosted the first edition.

What’s the significance of art in Cortina?

Art is a tool for connecting people: with Sentieri d’Arte we seek to connect visitors to the natural world. Instead of exhibiting in galleries or along Corso Italia, we take art into nature and invite people to explore it.

Your association is called Controcorrente: why?

A few years ago, in Venice, my daughter collected books that had been ruined by water and, with some friends of hers, turned them into works of art, which they sold for charity. A logo was created for the occasion: Libri Controcorrente; the Controcorrente Arte, association follows in the same spirit, and it’s the perfect name for our exhibitions, which aim to be increasingly original. Like in Cortina, where we’ve managed to get nature to make art and art to permeate nature.

What future projects do you have?

We’re planning the third edition of Sentieri d’Arte in 2022. We’re also working to organise a second exhibition simultaneously in another part of Italy, as we’ve done at Villa Carlotta on Lake Como.

Come nasce, Sentieri d’Arte, la rassegna d’arte annuale, disseminata nei sentieri boschivi di Cortina?

Dall’unione di più esperienze. L’arte è tradizione di famiglia e fa parte dei miei studi; da tempo volevo realizzare un progetto che coniugasse il mio amore per Cortina e la mia passione per la Land Art. È diventato possibile quando ho incontrato l’artista Alessandro Ferri e il curatore Fulvio Chimento, e assieme alle Regole d’Ampezzo abbiamo dato il via a Sentieri d’Arte. Una mostra che vive tra i rami dei boschi di Cortina: le opere d’arte nel tempo vengono inglobate dalla vegetazione. Come si può vedere sul sentiero di Pian de ra Spines, teatro dell’edizione appena conclusa, o sul sentiero Gores de Federa, che ha ospitato la prima edizione.

Quale significato ha l’arte a Cortina?

L’arte è uno strumento di connessione tra le persone: con Sentieri d’Arte proponiamo di collegare i visitatori e il mondo naturale. Al posto di esporre nelle gallerie o lungo Corso Italia, portiamo l’arte nella natura e invitiamo ad esplorarla.

La sua Associazione si chiama Controcorrente, perché?

Qualche anno fa, a Venezia, mia figlia ha recuperato i libri rovinati dall’acqua alta e con alcune amiche li ha trasformati in opere d’arte, vendute per beneficenza. Per l’occasione, è stato creato un logo, Libri Controcorrente: dallo stesso spirito ha preso vita l’Associazione Controcorrente Arte, nome perfetto per le nostre mostre – che mirano ad essere sempre più originali. Come a Cortina, dove siamo riusciti a far sì che la natura si faccia arte e l’arte si compenetri nella natura.

Quali sono i vostri progetti futuri?

Abbiamo in programma la terza edizione di Sentieri d’Arte nel 2022. Inoltre lavoriamo per affiancare a Cortina una seconda mostra, in contemporanea in un’altra parte d’Italia, come abbiamo fatto a Villa Carlotta, sul Lago di Como.
