CHINA-MEXICO 2025: TRADE, TARIFFS, AND THE ROAD TO USMCA 2026
Mexico’s trade deficit with China has reached record levels — and a new phase of tariff alignment and enforcement is reshaping regional dynamics.
In 2025, Mexico announced plans for broad new tariffs (some up to 50%) on over 1,000 products, mirroring U.S. and Canadian measures. China responded with a formal trade investigation, adding pressure ahead of the 2026 USMCA review.
