Großarl Europadorf/Town of europe Die Marktgemeinde Großarl ist der Hauptort des Großarltales, etwa in der Mitte des Tales und zugleich Ausgangspunkt für viele schöne Almwanderungen zu den bewirtschafteten Hütten, die dem Tal auch den Beinamen „Tal der Almen“ eingebracht haben. Der familienfreundliche Urlaubsort bietet ein umfangreiches Aktivprogramm sowie ein top modernes Freizeitzentrum.

The town Grossarl is the main place of the Grossarltal in the middle of the valley and starting point for several beautiful hikes to the mountain huts.

This also gets it the name “Valley of huts”. The family-friendly town offers a wide range of leisure activities and a big sports & recreation center.

Hüttschlag Nationalparkgemeinde/Nationalpark-village Die ehemalige Bergbaugemeinde liegt 8 km taleinwärts von Großarl und hat seit dem Jahr 1991 Anteil am Nationalpark Hohe Tauern, dem größten Nationalpark der Alpen mit einem einzigartigen Wanderangebot.

Seit 2008 zählt Hüttschlag auch zum erlesenen Kreis, der nach strengen Kriterien ausgewählten „Bergsteigerdörfer“, einem Projekt des Österreichischen Alpenvereines.

The old mining community is located 8 km from Grossarl and is part of the nationalpark “Hohe Tauern” since 1991 – the biggest nationalpark of the Alps. Since 2008 Hüttschlag is also one of the “Bergsteigerdörfer” – a project from the Austrian alpine club.

Bibelweg / Bible path

Im Talschluss in Hüttschlag wurde ein außergewöhnlicher Bibelweg errichtet. Es ist ein schöner Spazierweg mit verschiedenen Stationen aus dem Alten und Neuen Testament. Der Bibelweg kann zu jeder Tages- und Jahreszeit bei freiem Eintritt besucht werden (Spenden sind erbeten).

At the valley end of Hüttschlag you can find the Bible path. It’s a beautiful way with several stations from the old and New Testament. The Bible path can be visited at any time for free.

Grillmöglichkeiten gibt es in Rucki Zucki’s Gaudi-Alm in Großarl sowie an der Natur-Kneippanlage im Talschluss von Hüttschlag. Bitte nehmen Sie Grillkohlen und am besten auch Grilltassen mit.

BBQ opportunities can be found at the Rucki Zucki‘s Gaudi Alm in Grossarl, as well as on the nature-kneipp-facility on the valley end of Hüttschlag. Please take your own BBQ-coal and BBQcups with you.

Kapellenwanderweg / Chapel path

Zahlreiche Kapellen und Marterl wurden im Großarltal meist als Symbol des Dankes aufgestellt. Von der Pfarrkirche in Großarl führt der Kapellenwanderweg bis in den Talschluss nach Hüttschlag. Dabei passieren Sie elf Kapellen und die zwei Pfarrkirchen. Für jede Kapelle gibt es einen kurzen Text zum Besinnen und einen guten Wunsch, der mit auf den (Lebens-) Weg genommen werden soll. Alle weiteren Infos dazu finden Sie in der Broschüre „Kapellenwanderweg im Tal der Almen“ und auf www.kapellenwanderweg.at.

Kneippen / Kneipp

Im Talschluss von Hüttschlag gibt es eine Natur-Kneippanlage mit besonders erfrischendem und belebendem Gebirgswasser.

At the valley head of Hüttschlag there is a nature-kneipp-center with refreshing mountain water.

Kupfergeistweg / „Kupfergeist“ path

Unter dem Motto „Dem Kupfergeist auf der Spur“ steht die Rätselwanderung in Hüttschlag. Die Lösung finden Sie an verschiedenen Stellen im Ortszentrum in Hüttschlag. Unter anderem erfährt man vieles über Themen, wie der Bergwald, das rauschende Wasser, die Schätze des Berges, das Kupfer aus Hüttschlag, donnernde Schlitten und die Großarler Ache.

Modellsegelfliegen / Flying model planes

Im Großarltal gibt es beim Natur-Platzl (nahe der Bergstation der Panoramabahn), bei der Bichlalm, Loosbühelalm und Hoamalm ModellsegelFlugplätze. Dort können Sie mit Modellen mit einer Spannweite bis zu 7 m fliegen. Weitere Informationen: www.grossarltal.info.

Mit dem Bike geht es mit der Panoramabahn Großarltal auf den Berg, raus aus der Kabine und rein ins Flow-Trail-Vergnügen. Von der Bergstation der Panoramabahn führt der Singletrail Großarltal mit zwei Varianten (blau/rot) zur Mittelstation und weiter ins Tal, ca. 10 km und rund 1.000 Höhenmeter.

Neu: Bike-Schaukel vom Großarl- ins Gasteinertal und zurück. Von der Panoramabahn Bergstation über den Kreuzkogel bis hinab ins Tal nach Dorfgastein. Mit der Gipfelbahn Fulseck hinauf zum Fulseck, von dort zurück zur Panoramabahn-Bergstation/Laireiteralm und am Singletrail Großarltal hinab ins Tal. With the Panoramabahn Grossarltal you can take the bike up the mountain, get out of the cable car and enjoy the flow trail. From the mountain station of the Panoramabahn you can take the Grossarltal single-trail route with two variants to the middle station and further into the valley, about 10 km and around 1.000 high meters. New: Bike swing from the Grossarl- to the Gasteinertal and back. From the panorama lift mountain station over the Kreuzkogel and down into the valley to Dorfgastein. With the Gipfelbahn Fulseck up to the Fulseck, from there back to the Panoramabahn mountain station/Laireiteralm and on the single trail Grossarltal down into the valley.

Großer Abenteuerspielplatz „Rucki Zucki’s Gaudi-Alm“ im Freizeitzentrum Großarl - Kinderalm, Bergbach, Almsee, Kristallbergwerk und vieles mehr warten dort. In Hüttschlag gibt es einen öffentlichen Spielplatz beim Kaminstadl.

Big adventure playground „Rucki-Zucki‘s Gaudi-Alm“ at the sports and recreation center Grossarl - play hut, mini farm, mountain stream, small lake, a crystal mine and lots more. In Hüttschlag there is a public playground at the Kaminstadl.

The best way to find out how, is to ask the dairymaids themselves. We prefer to eat it with lots of butter on freshly baked farmhouse bread.

Wandernadeln & Wanderabzeichen / Hiking pins & buttons

Bedingungen für den Erwerb der Wandernadeln des Großarltales: Die Gültigkeit der erreichten Punkte ist zeitlich unbegrenzt, das heißt, Sie können jedes Jahr weitersammeln und die Punkte verfallen nicht. Auf den Almen und Gipfeln finden Sie Stempel. Sammeln Sie Stempelabdrücke, diese sind der Beweis dafür, dass Sie die Touren gewandert sind. Die Wandernadeln erhalten Sie gegen Vorlage der entsprechenden Stempel beim Tourismusverband Großarltal. Kosten: € 4,50 (mit Gästekarte Großarltal: € 2,50). Für Kinder gibt es lustige Buttons (kostenlos). Mit Klettermaxl, Bergfex oder Gipfelstürmer haben die Kinder ein Ziel vor Augen und die Motivation zum Wandern steigt ganz von alleine.

Conditions for earning hiking pins: The points you earn do not expire, so you can keep accumulating them from year to year. You will find the official stamps at mountain huts and on mountaintops. Use them to stamp the prescribed pages in our brochure “Die Almen im Grossarltal” – this will provide proof that you completed the hikes. When you are ready, present your collection of stamps at the Grossarltal tourist office. 1 hiking pin costs € 4.50 (with guest card € 2.50). For children, we also have fun buttons that are free of charge.

Hunde an die Leine / Dogs on a leash

Hunde sind im gesamten Ortsgebiet – auch auf Spazier- und Wanderwegen – an der Leine zu führen. Freies Laufen lassen in Wiesen und Feldern ist verboten! Hundekot ist vom Hundebesitzer zu beseitigen. Zuwiderhandlungen werden zur Anzeige gebracht. Hunde benötigen für die Fahrt mit Bergbahn und Bus einen Beißkorb!

ACHTUNG Weidevieh! Vermeiden Sie den Kontakt zu Weidetieren! Mutterkühe schützen Ihre Kälber! Hunde unbedingt an der kurzen Leine führen. Ist ein Angriff durch ein Weidetier abzusehen. Sofort ableinen!

Dogs need to be on a leash in the whole local area – also on walking- and hiking paths. Dogs running free on fields is prohibited! Dog feces need to be removed immediately. Violation will be reported to the police. When using the bus or the skilift, dogs need a muzzle!

ATTENTION grazing animals! Avoid contact with grazing animals. Mother cows protect their calves. Always keep dogs on a short leash. If it becomes clear that a cow is going to attack: Let your dog off the lead immediately.
