Makerspace Momentum
Teens (6th - 1 2th grade), this fall will be all about our new makerspace kits. These kits are designed to help you create, innovate and learn a new skill or life hack! A special thanks to the Friends of the Poquoson Public Library for their generous donation in support of this special tee n project!
YouTube (PPLibrary) and Facebook tutorials will be available on the 1 st and 3rd Monday of each month to highlight how to use one of the project kits included in the makerspace. The makerspace contains nine separate kits for in-library use. A waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian in order to use the makerspace. Available makerspace kits include:
Jewelry Maker Kit
Contains: beads, cord, wire, charms, cutters, pliers and examples.
Calligraphy Kit
Contains: pens, ink, paper and samples.
Button Maker Kit
Contains: button maker, pins, buttons, circle punch, markers, colored pencils and examples.
Wood Burning Kit
Contains: wood burning soldering iron, wood discs and examples.
Perler Bead Project Kit
Contains: beads, peg boards, craft iron and examples.
Knitting Kit
Contains: knitting needles, weaving forms, crochet hooks, yarn, scissors and examples.
Spirograph Project Kit
Contains: spirograph kit, pens, paper and examples.
Knex Project Kit
Contains: Knex building pieces and examples.
3D Design Kit
Contains: 3D pens, filament and 2D examples.

Calling all 6th-1 2th graders, the Teen Advisory Board needs you to make our library and the community a better place. Meetings will be virtual using Zoom. Officers will be elected at our first meeting in October for the upcoming year. Please email library@poquoson-va.gov or call the library 868-3060 for the Zoom meeting ID and password.

Monday - Thursday 10am - 7pm Friday 10am - 5pm Sunday 1pm - 5pm
The library building is now open to the public, with some limitations. Wearing a facial covering is strongly encouraged while visiting any municipal building in the City. To assist those who may not have or may have forgotten their own, disposable masks and hand sanitizer will be provided. Curbside pickup is available from 1 0:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday. The library offers computer access (with a one hour limit) and notary services by appointment. Please call 757-868- 3060 to make an appointment. Meeting and study rooms are not available at this time.
Take, Make and Learn Series
Kids feeling crafty? On selected Mondays, we will post how-to craft tutorials on our YouTube channel (PPLibrary) and Facebook page. Different take and make kits will be available for ages 5 and under and ages 6-1 1 while supplies last. Most crafts will require scissors and glue or tape.
