FALL RECREATION YOUTH SOCCER PROGRAM REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

All Players will receive their own ball as part of the program fee.

Shirts will not be provided this season.

Additional $10.00 for non-residents. Non-resident registration does not begin until 9/21 & only if space is still available.

This season in an effort to continue encouraging physical activity and the sport of soccer for all of our recreation players the City of Poquoson Office of Community Recreation invites players to join our Fall Soccer Program. Though games will not be played, this 6-week instruction based program will develop and improve soccer skills through drills and other instructional activities. The health and safety of our participants and instructors will be the first priority and this program will operate within compliance of the Phase 3 order from the Governor of Virginia for youth sports. All players will work in small groups, and stay within this group for the duration of the program. Health screening required at each instructional period. Instructional Director: Coach Tom Weih–Current PHS Varsity Girls Head Coach. Tom has coached a variety of age divisions and at all levels of the game from recreation, including select, travel and beyond. Assistant PHS soccer coaches will be on hand during sessions as well.

PIXIE STICKS BEGINNER FIELD HOCKEY

Field Hockey for beginners! Ages 5-7 Girls. Time: 5:30-6:15pm Dates: Mondays, October 5, 12, 19, 26 This program is designed to teach introductory field hockey skills for young players. Learn proper techniques for stick maneuvers, ball handling skills, shots, and more. Note: Must be 5 by the start of the program. Registration for each new PIXIE player includes a correctly sized stick, a ball and a shirt. Returning players fee includes a ball & shirt only. Instructor: Darcey Chiappazzi, Varsity Field Hockey Coach. Cost: $60 per player Returning Pixie Players Cost: $40 All players must play with a mouth guard & shin guards each session. RUNNING CLUB

Ages 7 and Up Kids are natural runners, but whether they are running with you or in an event, they require special care at every step of their development. This 5 week program consists of education in running form, pace, cadence as well as healthy habits, nutrition, attire, injury prevention, and good sportsmanship. This is a program that is non-competitive and promotes pride in accomplishment and personal improvement at any level. Each week the group will meet for approx. 60 minutes. Required equipment for participation is a pair of comfortable running shoes and a water bottle. No exceptions on shoes. Club Meeting Dates: Wednesdays October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4 Location: Phillips Park Time: 5:00pm-6pm *If enrollment is large a second session will be added following the first. AGES 7 & UP FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC

Dates: Monday, October 5, 12, 19, 26 Grades 2-8 skill stations and instruction. Time: 5:30-6:30pm Cost: Poquoson Residents: $50/$60 non-residents. YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS

Ages 7 and up. Boys & Girls Learn the basics of the game of tennis. You’ll learn to serve, forehand, body position, and footwork. Lessons held on Tuesday Evenings for 6 weeks. Dates: October 6 thru November 10 Location: PHS Tennis Courts. Cost: $70 Residents Non-Residents $80 Time: 6-7pm Beginners Program #107 Instructor: Joseph Coccimiglio, USTA instructor Students must bring their own racquet. Wear comfortable play clothes & tennis shoes. Each group lesson is limited to 12 kids. Minimum of 6 needed. Program#107

KICKSTART SOCCER

Must be age 4 by September 1, 2020 Kickstart is a program designed for the beginner soccer player. This is the basic introduction to the game of soccer. It is not a soccer league, but a 5 week instructional skill period for 45 minutes each week. Cost: $50 per child. No sibling discount; additional $10 for non-residents. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Dates: Wednesdays, October 7, 14, 21, 28 Time: 5:30-6:15pm South Lawson Park Instructor: Heather Deaver, Primary School Physical Education Teacher. Cost includes beginner ball & t-shirt.
