HE friendly suburb of Aspley, just 13 kms north of the Brisbane CBD and only ten minutes from the Bayside suburb of Sandgate, has much to offer residents and visitors alike. Due to its location on a small plain on Cabbage Tree Creek, Aspley was first called by that name with Little Cabbage Tree Creek School established in1890. The district was renamed Aspley in 1897 and the first school name was changed to Aspley State School. The dynamic suburb of Aspley today features state of the art cinemas, great shopping, including the Hypermarket and Homemaker City with the Chermside Markets and Geebung Shopping Precinct close by. Restaurants and cafes, fashion outlets, medical services and good transport are all further attractions while historic buildings remind us of Aspley’s past.

THE Top Nosh Café has two reasons to celebrate in May and on both days their customers will share the occasion. Top Nosh is so much more than a café as its many loyal customers will testify. They visit frequently not just for the tea and coffee, and home cooked cakes. Anyone looking for an original gift for a special person is very likely to find “the very thing” on their shelves. Apart from shoes, clothes, silk ties, jewellery and handbags, they will also find Victorian bric-a-brac, key rings, books, cards, wall plaques, nightlights and handmade miniature vintage cars. On May 4, Christine Allsop celebrates her first year as owner of Top Nosh Café and will be giving customers a “two for one” coffee all day. On Mother ’s Day, Sunday May 8, every mother visiting the cafe will receive a chocolate and a flower with their refreshments. Looking for presents for youngsters can be challenging but Top Nosh has a delightful selection of cuddly toys. Aside from the very popular all-day breakfasts, the

comprehensive homecooked menu includes marinated chicken breasts, salmon patties,

open grills and gourmet snacks. The Top Nosh Café is tucked away in a small shopping precinct

at 1374 Gympie Road and looks forward to sharing their special days with their customers.
