Open a window into our past at the county’s many historic sites. Visit the state’s first settlement, Schoenbrunn Village, where you will find 18 reconstructed cabins and a museum. Enjoy the Village of Sugarcreek, known as “The Little Switzerland of Ohio,” where you can see the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock entertain visitors every half hour. Railroad buffs will want to check out the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum and Ernest Warther Museum to view scale models, and the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum to see full-size trains. The area is also rich in cultural activities and vibrant artwork. Visit the downtowns of New Philadelphia, Dennison, Sugarcreek, and other communities to view hand-painted mural trails or catch a show at one of the county’s six performing arts venues, which offer comedy, music, and drama for families and adults alike.

Buttons—we’ve got buttons. The Warther Museum houses one of the largest collections of buttons with 78,000 in one place. 29. Canoeing, kayaking, and other water sports are available on the Tuscarawas River, as well as Atwood and Tall Timber Lake.
