Dear Friends, Sending warm New Year wishes to all! We are honored to announce ourselves as the new co-chairs of the 2024 Babes Against Cancer, dedicated to supporting the American Cancer Society. Our goal is to diligently raise funds for research towards breast and prostate cancers. Jody's Note: Sstepping into the role as co-chair of the Babes Against Cancer is not just personally fulfilling; it’s a return to a passion I deeply missed. With twelve years at the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research, the satisfaction of helping others facing cancer challenges is incredibly rewarding. Having friends and family affected by these cancers, I’m committed to doing my part in supporting them. MJ and I are dedicated to making a positive impact by supporting the American Cancer Society. MJ's Note: when I decided to fully retire, I realized I needed and wanted to do volunteer work. I also wanted to get more involved in the Greens community. I’m a cancer survivor and lost my mother, sister, stepsister, aunt and numerous dear friends to this horrific disease. I went to the Babes meeting and sat next to Jody, whom I had never met. We learned about the Babes and the incredible work they do, and I wanted to be a part of it. When they announced they needed new co-chairs, Jody and I decided to step up and help this amazing organization. For those new to the Greens, the Babes fundraiser is a significant event dedicated to raising funds for breast and prostate cancer research. It’s a day filled with golf, tennis, pickleball, cards and mahjong, followed by a beautiful lunch with amazing raffle prizes. Your assistance will be crucial in making this day a tremendous success. A heartfelt thank you to Maxine Koenig and Eileen Shindler for their years of devoted dedication as co-chairs, and a special acknowledgement to Arnie Shindler for running the Men’s Babes with great success. We aspire to follow in their footsteps and invite you to mark your calendars for our upcoming events: MEN’S BABES AGAINST CANCER – JULY 18, 2024 WOMEN’S BABES AGAINST CANCER – JULY 23, 2024 Since our inaugural Babe event 20 years ago, our incredible community has contributed close to $2,400,000. Collectively all Long Island Babes Against Cancer clubs have donated one billion dollars to cancer research. In 2023, the Greens generously donated $142,000 to the American Cancer Society. Let’s keep this momentum going! Your support is vital, and we eagerly look forward to our first meeting in May. Together, let’s strive for success in achieving a cure for breast and prostate cancer. Feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions you may have. Wishing you a happy and healthy winter! Best Regards, MJ and Jody Jody Klebanoff Mary Jean (MJ) Marino Art Roth (Men’s Babes)

Paul Scharf, Director of Golf

Dear Members, Happy New Year! It is the middle of January - the middle of the winter. For those of you lucky enough to be in the warm weather, I hope your golf games are thriving. For the rest of us who have golf on the brain, pick up a club and start swinging. Swinging the club everyday will keep you ready and limber for those rare days when it's warm enough to tee it up. Now that is its 2024 lets ring in the new year with some new year’s resolutions. Here is a small list I have compiled to start your golf year off right. 1. Play more often: How many rounds do you play each season, try to play 10 more this year. 2. Play Faster: Let’s clean up our pre shot routines, maybe incorporate less practice swings. Get to the ball

faster, be ready to putt when it is our turn. These steps might make you better company to play with, the group behind you might appreciate you more as well. It might even make you a better player.

3. Sign up as a single: Move out of your comfort zone and join a group you may not know. Allow yourself

to expand your golfing friends. This might allow you to concentrate better on the course giving you a new perspective on your own game. 4. Make a swing change: Take a lesson and finally fix that grip or swing flaw that has been holding you

back. I hear the golf pro does an excellent job fixing swings and improving your game. 5. Plan a golf trip: Grab a few friends and go someplace new and fun to play.

6. Practice more: Take the time to practice all aspects of your game. Spend time on the putting green

making long and short putts. Go to a driving range and hit a few balls once a week.

7. Get new clubs: Finally buy those new clubs you have been demoing every year. its time. Take

advantage of the demo days and buy something new. It might just change your game.

8. League and tournaments: take the leap and play in the league and sign up for some tournaments.

Our Leagues and Tournaments might be more fun, and less intimidating than you think.

9. New attire: Treat yourself to some new hip golf clothes, some say its better to look good than to play

good.

10. Mental toughness: commit to stopping all the negative golf thoughts on the course. Be positive over every shot. These are a few golf resolutions that just might make golf a bit more enjoyable. Remember if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. As we move closer to the spring, please be on the look-out for all the latest league and tournament schedules and signups. I would like to remind everyone that our golf shop and bag room will be closed January 22-March 4th. Please make arrangements to pick up your golf bags, if you will be needing them before the 22nd of January. If ever you should need anything a quick phone call, text or email should do the trick. Sincerely, Paul Scharf Director16of Golf
