It’s hard to believe that next year marks the end of the first quarter of the 21st century. Where did the time go? Whether you are a brand-new member of the Greensboro Science Center or have been here with me for twenty-one of the last twenty-five years, THANK YOU for your support and belief in what we are trying to build and create for our community. If you are a longtime member, you have certainly witnessed the transformational change that has taken place. Well, get ready! The start of the second quarter of the 21st century will bring extraordinary excitement as we launch a project unlike anything in city or state history. In January, you will begin to see land being cleared, underground pipes being installed, foundations being poured, and by mid to late 2025, five stories of steel towering overhead. Welcome to the era of Expedition Rainforest – the Greensboro Biodome.
As members, the GSC will need your passion and support like never before. Our city of approximately 300,000 people is about to create something comparable to only one other city in the United States, San Francisco, which has a population of over 7 million. The California Academy of Science is perhaps the closest comparison to what we are about to create per our vision to be a four-in-one, onestop shop for science education A science museum, aquarium, zoo, and rainforest dome campus here in the heartland of North Carolina and at the center of Greensboro’s Battleground Parks District will be a game-changer for our citizens and city.
We exist because you believe in us. We are able to grow because you support us. We want Greensboro and the Triad to flourish educationally and economically behind a newfound passion to innovate and invite new businesses and ways of thinking into our communities. Our goal is to help the heartland of North Carolina become the heartbeat of positive growth and change.
