Open houses will be held on Saturday & Sunday from 1-5 pm…admission is free. This is a great chance to see the homes firsthand as well as meet and talk with Parade Builders and Realtors regarding homes they currently have or will have available.

Whether you are in the market to build or buy a new home…or just want to see the latest home design trends and amenities, the annual Parade of Homes provides a great opportunity to see a variety of homes and communities. Many Parade homes are custom-designed and built homes that are not regularly open for tours except during the annual Parade of Homes.

Annually the Best in American Living™ Awards are presented at the International Builders Show, showcasing top design trends that home buyers can expect to see in homes and communities over the next several years. One significant trend is shifting away from harsh exteriors and finishes to warm, rich materials and soft corners.

Rooftop Entertaining. Hosting at home is being taken to the next level—literally—in housing across the board, from spec homes to multifamily developments and remodeling projects. Selecting a floor plan will also give you a sense of the flow of the home from room to room. Builders can recommend floor plans with flexibility, functionality and maximize the space available on the lot. If you’re not sure which floor plan to select for your new home, consider the following steps.

Make a List of Must-Haves

Making a list of must-have features will help you stay focused. The best place to start is by thinking about the features you’re missing in your current home and/or would be ideal in your new home. Would you prefer a bigger bedroom or kitchen? Builders can make recommendations based on the structural and design elements you prefer.

Consider Future Needs

It is important to consider how your lifestyle and needs can change, such as space for children, pets or aging parents. Construction Careers…A Path to Prosperity

As industries continue to evolve, one sector remains a cornerstone of economic growth and stability: construction. From new housing developments to expanding commercial infrastructure, the demand for skilled tradespeople is at an all-time high. Yet, despite this growing need, many young adults and career changers overlook the construction industry in favor of traditional college degrees. However, with competitive salaries, job security, and a hands-on work environment, construction careers offer lucrative opportunities that rival or even surpass many degreebased professions.

High Demand, High Rewards

Construction careers are not only stable but also financially rewarding. Skilled workers such as electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and carpenters are in short supply, driving up wages and job availability. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the construction industry is expected to grow by 4% from 2021 to 2031, adding hundreds of thousands of new jobs.

Salary Comparisons: Skilled Trades vs. College Degrees

Many students are led to believe that a traditional fouryear degree is the only pathway to financial success. However, the average starting salary for college graduates with general degrees—such as business, communications, or liberal arts—ranges between $45,000 and $55,000 per year.

Workforce Development

As part of the Greensboro Builders Association’s construction careers initiatives, we are involved with area high schools, community colleges, and other workforce development organizations striving to build greater awareness of career opportunities within the construction industry. This includes classroom and job site visits, career fairs, job shadowing, internships, on-the-job training and apprenticeships.

Scholarships & Training Grants

Through the generous support of Association members, we created a Construction Careers Scholarship Endowment this past year and are awarding workforce development scholarships and training grants to students and adults seeking a career in constructionrelated skilled trades. These include but are not limited to carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and construction management.

Giving Back to the Community

We are extremely fortunate that industry members give so generously of their time and resources to make a difference in the lives of others in our community. The Greensboro Builders Association participates in numerous community service projects on an ongoing basis, giving of both financial resources and in-kind contributions.

Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat

In 2003, GBA entered into a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro known as Raising Roofs… Builders for Habitat Builders, remodelers, suppliers and trade contractors worked sideby-side to build houses from foundation to dedication in one incredible week...a huge undertaking that could not happen without the support of numerous Association members. This past year we completed construction on our 65th home as we also celebrated the Greensboro Builders Association’s 65th year as a trade association.

We are excited to continue the tradition of helping provide affordable housing for others in our community...and appreciate the generosity of our members who continue to donate building materials and labor to support these initiatives.

ReBuilding Hope

Since 2011, GBA has partnered with Community Housing Solutions to assist with residential renovations and new construction. More than twelve homes have been renovated to ensure homes are warmer, safer, and drier for those in need in our community. Two homes have been completely rehabbed, one in the historic Glenwood neighborhood, and one which was damaged during the tornado that touched down in East Greensboro. We have also constructed two new homes, one on Douglas Street and the other on Eastwood Avenue. Through these initiatives, we have impacted 16 families and more than 40 individuals to date.

In addition to providing support in the construction of new homes and much needed home repairs, Greensboro Builders Association members serve in various leadership roles on these organization’s Board of Directors and building committees.

Hurricane Helene Rebuilding

Greensboro Builders Association members have been involved in relief and rebuilding initiatives since the hurricane devastated western North Carolina...from donating supplies to assisting with clean-up and now rebuilding.

We recognize this is going to be a lengthy process for communities to rebuild. Our commitment is to assist those with the greatest needs providing rebuilding support.

Each Parade entry page features a rendering of the front elevation; floor plan; special features; driving directions; and a list of the Greensboro Builders Association members who participated in the construction of the home.
