Registration information Registration

It’s easy to enroll!

Schedule Planner

New students

This feature provides you with up-to-the-minute class information and enables you to:

1. Complete an application for admission online at greenriver.edu. Admission to the college is open to anyone who has a high school diploma, GED, or is 18 years old by the first day of the quarter they are planning to attend. Please note, if you are 16 or 17, you will need to submit a high school release form from the school district you live in, unless you have a GED or high school diploma. 2. Complete the COMPASS.* *If you have a degree from a community college or a baccalaureate college, you may not need to do this. Bring an unofficial transcript with you to your advising appointment. 3. Schedule a New Student Orientation, Advising and Registration session, or SOAR, by calling (253) 833-9111, ext. 6000, or by signing up online at greenriver.edu/student-services/career-and-advising.

Returning students/not currently enrolled

Request that Enrollment Services update your record. Call ext. 2500 or reapply online.

To access the Schedule Planner feature

Please note: If you are unable to enroll for a class that shows an open seat, there is a waitlist attached.

Web Registration Who can use Web Registration? All students who: 1. have completed the admissions process; 2. have been assigned a Student ID number and PIN; 3. have been assigned a registration access time; and 4. are registering or withdrawing from credit classes.

Students are automatically assigned a Green River e-mail account. The college will use this e-mail address for official communication with all students. Official college policy requires every student to read his or her @mail.greenriver.edu e-mail account regularly. To start using your @mail.greenriver.edu account, go to: greenriver.edu/student-email.

Web Registration cannot be used when registering for:

Web Registration hours

Registration notifications will not be mailed. Two weeks prior to the start of registration, visit the Green River Web site greenriver.edu/online-services to access your registration time.

Note: Web registration function is not available after the third day of the quarter (second day for summer quarter) to add a class. Web registration is open for dropping classes through the eighth week of the quarter (sixth week for summer quarter). See Registration Calendar.

Continuing Education

Registration access time

See page 39 for non-credit Continuing Education classes. Students can register for non-credit classes at greenriver.edu/academics/continuingeducation.

GED testing GED testing takes place in the Assessment and Testing Center at the Welcome Center (ZWC) every Monday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on a drop-in basis. The fee for the GED Test is $150, payable at the Assessment and Testing Center. You must have government-issued picture ID to test. If you are 16, 17 or 18 years old, you must also bring a signed Request for Approval to Test for the GED from your school district office. For more information, please call the Assessment Center at ext. 2650.

Visit the Schedule Planner prior to registering for classes.

You may use Web Registration anytime on or after your scheduled access time, but not before. See Online Services for registration access time. To register, select the following: • Online Services • Register for classes • Register / add / drop classes Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen to register for the classes of your choice. You will be asked to enter the course item number. This is located to the far left of the class time listed in your class schedule. (See page 10 for example.) If you are registering for a class that requires permission, instructions will automatically appear on the screen requiring you to enter an entry code.

Entry codes

These are five-digit numbers issued to you by the instructor of the class or by an advisor. They are used as authorization for classes requiring permission or prerequisite satisfaction. Once you have used an entry code, the computer will not accept it again.

Credit maximum

Academic students may register for up to 20 credits per quarter. Professional/ technical students may register for up to 25 credits per quarter.

To print class schedule

1. Go to greenriver.edu/online-services 2. Select View My Schedule under Register for classes

Waitlist for full classes—automated system For textbook information, go to: www.greenriver.edu/bookstore. Select Order Now, click the Textbook tab and select your classes to get the information. 6

How do you get into a class that is full?

Entry codes will not allow you to by-pass the waitlist option and register yourself into a full class. The waitlist process works as follows: • Web or in-person registration will provide the option to waitlist into a full class. All prerequisites must be met to be added to a waitlist.
