A centre of creativity
Greenfield Arts Autumn 2021 2021 has brought about many changes. Our autumn programme looks forward and plays with new ways of seeing and being, exploring light and darkness through our exhibitions, projects and activities.
Our Cree men’s group have been busy making a new look for our arts centre facility, creating a garden area to welcome you. We are also excited to launch ‘Our Place’, our annual open art exhibition later in the year.

We are looking forward to sharing the full season with you and ‘Making that Change’ with inspiration from The Big Draw, by supporting innovation and imagination, shining a light that will nurture a love of drawing and creativity.

With or Without An exhibition by Elaine Vizor Thursday 16 September – Wednesday 27 October 2021 Preview Wednesday 15 September 18:00-20:00
An exhibition based on innovative and experimental techniques ‘With or Without’ a camera. The word photography is made from two Greek works, photo (light) and graphy (write). Translated literally, photography means writing with light and precedes the use of a camera. This body of work demonstrates different ways of capturing light, with and without a camera and is in two contrasting parts.
Night Light Photography Join Elaine for an evening walk and the chance to capture light in darkness. Elaine will have a short chat about her exhibition, followed by a socially distanced walk and a discussion about the ways to capture your images and work with the lights of the night.

The Big Draw Activity and project Join us and be part of this National Festival
We are excited to be part of The Big Draw, the National Campaign to celebrate and promote visual expression. We are finding ways to contribute creatively to ’Making that Change’ This year we are working alongside young people exploring the environment around them and finding ways to be kind to our planet through creativity.

A collective exhibition by artists who form part of the Creative Forum, a group which meets weekly at Greenfield Arts. The exhibition showcases their creativity during lockdown isolation and beyond, as they emerge once more a creative group who relish working alongside each other and learning from fellow creatives. Freeform Drawing
Join artist Sharron Bates and enjoy a relaxing session finding out more about freeform drawing - a way to use drawing to work through feelings and create images. Come along to this relaxing session and transform your creations into a beautiful work of art. See page 12 for full details

Creative Collaborators A project ... Working alongside students at Greenfield Community College artist Dawn Belshaw will be exploring science and nature through creativity and providing a stimulus to inspire the whole school.
We are excited to work alongside young people and find creative ways to learn more about science and discuss how topics such as the environment, recycling, nature and pollution can impact upon the world around us.

Students at Greenfield Community College have been working alongside artist Paul Theo Murray using nature as a metaphor as they explore their thoughts and feelings and learn new creative skills.
working alongside practitioner Ian Rigby creating a garden feature for our entrance at Greenfield Arts. This exciting challenge provides a lovely welcome for visitors to the site. The group are looking forward to collaborating with Locomotion in Shildon to produce artwork which will be displayed at the museum. An exciting project that benefits the community and their own well-being and is supported by County Durham Public Health.

We are Greenfield Arts Greenfield Arts promotes and stimulates

Greenfield Arts has an arts centre facility based in Newton Aycliffe which is also the home to our Greenfield Arts team. It is a registered charity and has a strategic alliance with Greenfield Community College.
