I’m a 22 year old Industrial Design student from Hertford, I’ve always had a passion for building things and being hands on, finding design as a profession to be the most relatable.
Design shouldn’t just be from behind a screen, being able to jump into a workshop and prove a concept is something I pride myself on.
Design Project Lead working as sole designer on a full branded consumer electronic product line, through to manufacture .
Assistant Graphic Designer working in a professional environment alongside the team.

In house Industrial Designer creating VTOL/CTOL concepts for customers, and marketing resources.
Live breif to explore new markets for a brand established in another.
Live brief to create a home therapy device within an existing brand.
The Concept
Over the initial months of extensive research I discovered that Biomass boilers, while an efficient way to heat your home, looked like industrialist units which through further customer insight cemented this opinion.
So with is in mind can we:
Combine the aesthetic of something similar in principle such as a Nordic fireplace, while maintaining the efficency of a Biomass Boiler?

1. User receives delivery of SNUG fuel when needed, in integrated packaging for dispense.
2. Dispense fuel into the fitted hopper, which auto locks when full.
How it works
Modelling how user will interact with the unit and the wider picture of an integrated fuel service, in keeping with existing unit systems.
3. The burner converts the raw fuel into heat transferred into exchangers which heat water.
4. Heated water is stored in a buffer tank allowing for reliable dispatchability.
5. When the ash drawer is full the user is notified and can remove the whole drawer for easy disposal.
Development
Using a wide range of sketching and rough model making to convey key components and capture the aesthetic desired.
Visualisation
Using scale modelling to understand the environment the unit could live in from the users perspective.
Engineering Principles
Keeping the grounded approach to the design ensuring the unit kept within the existing specifications for a Biomass boiler through extensive research and CAD work.

Phantom limb syndrome is a chronic condition effecting 8 out of 10 amputees where they experience sensations, whether painful or otherwise, in a limb that does not exist.
Mirror Therapy
Mirror therapy tricks the somatosensory cortex of the brain to believe a reflected body part is on the other side, using touch senses of the true side to trick the missing, calming the pain signals it sends out.
Concept
Canon are well known for their camera technology making them a perfect brand to combine into a device that projects a mirrored image of the missing limb.
Phantom limb syndrome is a chronic condition effecting 8 out of 10 amputees where they experience sensations, whether painful or otherwise, in a limb that does not exist.
Development
Capturing the brand aesthetics of Canon through from, establishing realistic function for the target market through sketching and rudimentary model making.
Take the interaction with conventional lighting unit and create a unique experience through an alternate route for the user.
Development
Sketching simple forms, reiterating the slide interface through prototyping, introducing a dimmer feature for the user environment.
Background
White rice has a high glycemic index, meaning it breaks down into sugar quickly. Excessive rice consumption is linked to onset type 2 diabetes.
Adding an acidic liquid such as Vinegar or Lemon, slows the conversion starch to sugar in the body lowering the risk of diabetes by up to 25%.
Every Asian household has a rice cooker, a valuable touch point Rice paper pods would contain a portion of Lemon/Vinegar corresponding of the rice.
Another touch point in Asian households is the cup used to measure rice. The Scoop would measure out a corresponding amount of Lemon/Vinegar cooking liquid.
The main touch point in Asian households is the tub which bought rice is then dispensed into. A connecting dispenser could be mounted with Lemon/Vinegar.
Initial Ideas
Interviewing individuals who consume rice as their primary carbohydrate, I noted multiple touch points to explore. Key ones included a rice cooker, storage tub and scoop for portioning, all of which where also consistent between each person.
1. Lemon/Vinegar pods
2. Scoop
3. Tub
Model
Keeping it simple around the scoop, the pre measured “tools” allow the user to correctly measure out the correct portion of liquid to rice, getting the perfect ratio. 75g - 18ml.
The cups would be made from injection moulded Melamine-formaldehyde-resin.
Ground Six is a portfolio of companies that falls under the control of one management Team.
Radiator booster is the company’s first venture into an original product taken all the way through design to manufacture in house.
Background and Aims
I was brought in as an in-house designer, given full creative freedom and leadership over the product and project as a whole.
Radiator booster is a fan unit which increases the efficency of home heating through hot air movement, heating rooms quicker and subtly.
Development
Undertaking the design decisions leading to a more compact sleek unit, taking away length and adding a second fan to increase efficency, at half the size.
Old vs New
Brand Development
During my time, branding the newer model was required creating logos and swatches that would math the new style.
I also created a complete Brand guidelines package to cover everything from logo placement to packaging for the brand to have an established consistency in-line with the new model.
Experimentation
Taking a step back and re approaching the initial goals but from a new angle gave room for the experimental “Bladeless version”.
Modelled on bladeless fans, the much smaller version allows for more directional control and air flow.
Prototyping
Rapid prototyping in the form of 3d printing helped get an understanding of the size and subtlety of form before creating a working ABS model to test.
Design for Manufacture
A learning curve was understanding deign for manufacture in depth to then communicate to manufactures with parts that were suitable for the methods desired and materials to be used.
Ribbing, material thickness, embossing, tolerances...
HEXR are the first custom hex comb printed bike helmet manufactures, using natures principles in sport safety equipment, and the company for this live brief.
Biomimicry
Referring to the practice that learns from and mimics the strategies found in nature to solve human design challenges, is something within the initial brief as a route.
No Ears
Consistent trauma to the outside of ear leads a perichondrial haematoma or Cauliflower ear. In contact sports, this is all too common and leaves permanent scaring like this.
The Concept
Players currently bandage and tape their ears the sides of their heads to prevent this from happening, but isn’t efficient in a long game.
To address the longevity of a solution through a piece of protection so calling back to biomicry using the idea that no ears means no trauma, in a blunt sense.
Moulded shock absorbent thermo-polymer
Development
Sketching functional forms that keep the ear contained and safe.
“Removed from the equation”
Solution
Incorporating a shock absorbent thermo-polymer allows the individual to heat and mould their band to them selves, ensuring individual protection.
Creating an elasticated band to hold it all together and within the HEXR brand.
Melanoma is the most common form of cancer in young people, yet there is no screening routine. Earning a lower mortality rate with early detection.
Medical Information
Quick interviews with young people showed that many don’t know how to spot early signs of Melanoma with them being listed online but only with extreme examples.
The Concept
Convey tools and information to the target demographic from a new yet familiar approach.
Equip young people with their own set of standardised tools that simply aid in the identification of early melanoma, in the form of a children’s book as its familiar, denoting a calmer approach to a serious topic.
Styled Tool-kit
The tool kit follows the NHS standard categories used by dermatologists to measure suspected melanoma.
Each page corresponds to each category to check:
Size, asymmetry, texture, boarder, colour and a magnifying glass to look closer with inbuilt note pad for tracking.
3D Printing Hobby
Over the last few years I’ve dove into the world of 3D printing not only as a benefit to my process but in my personal time as well showcasing my finished models here.
Models are not my own but fabricated and finished by me.
