Want more target practice? Bring your own bow and arrows to Scioto Grove Metro Park’s archery courses. The first is a traditional course, while the second is populated with 3D foam animals that don’t retain arrow marks. Scope out deer, a turkey, a coyote, a wild boar, and a raccoon amidst the greenery before taking on the more DIFFICULT elk, turkey, antelope, bear, and deer targets. The Metro Park also offers a DRONE FLIGHT ZONE, a large open field where owners of registered drones and other aerial toys have clearance to fly.

@crunchy andherdog

While you’re exploring the park’s newer features, don’t forget the joys of a good OLD-FASHIONED nature walk. Take the REI River Trail for soothing views of the Scioto River and bird sightings. Backpackers will find T WO campsites along the trail and another T HREE that are accessible through connected trails. Leashed dogs are welcome, too!

Cruise for views down the Big Darby Creek Scenic River. Trapper John’s Canoe Livery offers EXCURSIONS ranging from a couple hours to a full day of floating. In the summer, drift through the DREAMIEST hours of the day on a Big Darby at Dusk trip.

Perfect Pairing

Zack Roybal of The Chandler and Rebecca Sommer of Soier House Gallery & Co. unsealed a hidden doorway on a shared wall that once separated these two Grove City Town Center businesses. Now, candle-makers at The Chandler who are waiting on their freshly poured candles to “cure” can browse refurbished antiques at the home décor and custom-framing store.

How does the par tnership work? Sommer: We leave the doors open when we’re both here, and we each encourage customers to check out what’s on the other side.

Wendy

Pramik

Wendy Pramik is a photojournalist from Columbus who enjoys sharing stories about the many adventures she takes with her family on columbusfamilyadventures.com.

How is it mutually beneficial? Roybal: It’s a synergistic relationship. Customers easily get the best of both stores, and Rebecca and I gain from one another’s business wisdom.
