This year's Lakewood Beautiful City service information awards given to proud homeowners for Labor Day
One of the 2020 Lakewood Beautiful award-winning homes. The Lakewood Beautiful Home Awards program marked its 37th anniversary this year, with 51 recognized homes chosen from 146 nominated residences. You can see a photo gallery of homes at www.lakewoodcity. org/LakewoodBeautfulWinners. Twenty-two homes received the “Beautiful Home Award” for their hard work and commitment to maintaining their homes and gardens, with 19 earning Honorable Mentions. In the “Transformation Award” category, 10 homeowners were honored for making
significant improvements to their home’s exterior or landscaping in the past three years. Thirteen of the 51 homes also earned Water Wise Awards for using efficient irrigation and drought-tolerant landscaping while maintaining a beautiful yard and home. Normally, Lakewood Beautiful winners are honored at a community reception, but because of COVID-19, this year Lakewood City Council Members are delivering a congratulatory lawn sign to each winner at their home in a physically distant and safe manner.
Lakewood Beautiful’s judges, who include a landscape architect, Community Development specialist, and local realtor who rotates every year, expressed appreciation to all of the Lakewood Beautiful-nominated homes that display a pride of ownership and care and help make Lakewood’s neighborhoods so appealing. When caring, committed residents invest in and care for their homes and yards, property values for everyone get a boost and the community becomes a stronger, safer place. ♦

Since first gathering two weeks
after the horrific events of September 11, 2001, Lakewood residents have come together annually to remember the victims of the terrorist attacks and pay tribute to the U.S. military personnel and public safety first responders who protect and serve us at home and abroad. ♦
