IF CHOCOLATE’S YOUR BAG…

Designer sweets await from Louis Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton and Maxime Frédéric are debuting a new collection of Easter treats designed speci cally for the occasion. For the rst time, the "Chocolate Egg Bag," inspired by the iconic 2019 design by Nicolas Ghesquière, has been transformed into chocolate. The bag's shells are comprised of 70 percent dark chocolate, its zipper pulls and handles are made from 40 percent milk chocolate and inside is a 40 percent milk chocolate bar with a hazelnut gianduja center. Traditional Easter eggs were reimagined through three recipes — two dark and one milk chocolate — and are available in three-piece or six-piece boxes. For more information, visit louisvuitton.com.

ROOMS WITH A (point of) VIEW

9 SOUTH FLORIDA INTERIOR DESIGNERS SHARE THE SPACES THAT DEFINE THEIR SIGNATURE STYLE.

NICOLE WHITE

ICOLE WHITE DESIGNS INTERIORS

HER FAVORITE ROOM: This is like choosing your favorite child! So hard to do, but I’ll have to say my mom cave. I designed that space pre-Covid, not knowing then how much I would need it. It became my escape, a sanctuary during those very tough and mentally challenging months. It holds some of my favorite pieces of art and all the books I’ve read over the years and is just a safe space to start my days, listening to music or meditating, and where I unwind at the end of very stressful days.

HOW IT REFLECTS HER STYLE: Black walls and ceilings are a bold statement! And it’s how I design. Be as bold and unapologetic as possible and layer in great textures/fabrics, artwork and other details that reflect your style. In this case, that’s my collection of books, an old typewriter gifted to me by my late mother-in-law and tons of mementos from my travels and craft projects made by my son, Xavier Ajani.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE SPACE: The large piece of art was a steal scored on a trip to Cuba. I saw it and immediately knew I had to have it and paid precisely what the artist quoted — which, quite frankly, wasn’t enough. Every time I enter that room, that painting makes me smile. It takes me back to Cuba and the amazing experience we had with its people and architecture.

ALEX ALONSO

R ALEX TATE DESIGN

HIS FAVORITE ROOM: I really loved the meeting/lounge space we did for the Casacor showcase in Miami. It was a challenge given the size, but I loved being able to create so many different vignettes and storytelling elements in one large, open space. The inspiration for the room was this idea of a ‘70s hangout where Tarantino-meetsKubrick — two of my favorite film directors. I worked in Hollywood for some time and have always been influenced by movies. In my head, I thought, “How can we make a space comfortable enough for Jackie Brown but interesting enough for Kubrick to be able to use his wide shots?”

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE SPACE: The ceiling is really what gives it that unexpected twist. A fully reflective ceiling on its own is quite naughty, but run an orange stripe down the middle and things get a little interesting. At a more granular level, there were so many layers to that room —the curious artwork along the walls, the collection of vintage Asian cloisonne along the windowsill, the drapery-lined walls. There’s a lot to unpack.

HOW IT REFLECTS HIS STYLE: It really embodies my eclectic approach to design. I love things that create a layered narrative of the space. At mr alex TATE, we’re passionate about the English Victorian era — a time of prolific collecting, when homes overflowed with ornamental treasures and curiosities. We call our take Mod-Vic, a modern revival of Victorian charm with a twist that makes it our unique interpretation.

DESIGN MOTTO: Curate fearlessly!

LUCIANA FRAGALI

ESIGN SOLUTIONS MIAMI

HER FAVORITE ROOM:

My favorite room is the living and dining room of my house. I continued the stone used on the facade of the house into the main living room wall, and on that wall, there is a Manolo Valdes artwork made for me! We FaceTimed, discussed the character I liked most out of all the women he paints, and talked about the colors, the mirror inserts, and the frame that I wanted. That was a dream come true! I also have the Vivi chair from the Brazilian designer Sergio Rodrigues in that room — another obsession. The blush Moroso chairs, the Artefacto Sofa, and the Cassina co ee table perfectly compose the room.

On the other side, the dining room features a special-shaped dining table for nine

designed by Arthur Casas, another favorite architect from Brazil, complemented by stunning dining room chairs from Jader Almeida. The customized wall unit houses two integrated Sub-Zero wine fridges alongside a rustic travertine marble niche where I display my favorite bottles, glasses, and other treasured items. Suspended above the dining table hangs the exquisite Dew Drops chandelier by Boris Klimek—a piece near and dear to my heart.

Between both rooms, I have a pink onyx round table designed by me, which I love accessorizing, and a few custom poufs upholstered in Missoni fabric. Two bookshelves on the sides of the entrance door were designed and customized by me. They’re made of walnut wood with ra a backsplashes and full of favorite accessories that I have collected over the years.

DESIGN MOTTO: Distinctive design, masterfully executed to perfection.

SHELLY MILGRAM

OLO INTERIORS

HER FAVORITE ROOM:

The kitchen, because that’s where everyone always gathers and hangs out. It’s the heart of the home.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE SPACE:

touch of brushed gold on the hood gives the kitchen a pop of glam. The gold pendant lights over the island also give the kitchen a touch of sparkle and glam.

WHAT SHE’S LOVING RIGHT

The black uted stained oak wood gives an extra layer of dimension and depth, and the

NOW: The last year has turned to warmer colors and lots of earthy and organic elements. The white and gray era has passed its seven-year mark

and now everything is a lot calmer and warmer in tones. The second item is the wood slats that the world seems to be obsessed with. We have been installing wood slats in all nishes, stains and pro les in our projects — focal walls, foyers, headboard walls, wall units, and on the backs of niches and bars. They add warmth, dimension, and a visual appeal everyone loves.

UNCONSULT HOME SERVICE COMPANY

HER FAVORITE ROOM: The medical o ce entrance and conference room because they perfectly embody the balance of comfort and professionalism. With natural elements, modern design, and a soothing color palette, these areas set the tone for a welcoming and stress-free environment. Every detail was carefully selected to reduce stress, encourage relaxation, and enhance the experience for both patients and sta , making this pain management o ce a place of comfort and care.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE SPACE: The wood-paneled wall and luxury wallpaper are key elements that bring warmth, texture, and sophistication to the space, making it feel complete. The wood paneling adds a re ned touch, creating a sense of depth and natural elegance, while the luxury wallpaper introduces a subtle yet impactful layer of texture and style. Together, these elements balance modern design with warmth, enhancing the overall ambiance and ensuring the space feels both inviting and polished.

DESIGN MOTTO: Creating spaces, enhancing lives.

AGGIE CRUZ INTERIOR DESIGN

HER FAVORITE ROOM: This living room is one of my favorite spaces/ It radiates warmth and character. The blend of so , muted tones and varied textures creates an inviting yet sophisticated ambiance. The elegantly curved deco-style sofa pays homage to the Mediterranean Revival architecture, while a cane chair from our Maggie Cruz Home collection adds vintage charm. Striking abstract art brings a modern vibrancy, beautifully contrasting with the classic elements. Grounding the room is an exquisite antique Turkish rug, its rich jade tones tying everything together. Each piece works in harmony to create a luxurious, layered atmosphere that invites you to linger.

HOW IT REFLECTS HER STYLE: I love homes that feel charming and inviting, where there aren’t strict rules on style. The mix of furnishings and décor tells a personal story that re ects the homeowner's personality, creating a unique look.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE SPACE: My favorite pieces are the Costero chairs; they are made of humble materials but feel so elegant. These chairs are inspired by my cultural roots and re ect the vibrant essence of living in a tropical environment.

DESIGN MOTTO: Don’t overthink it. If you love it and it feels right, don’t worry about trends or what’s “in style” — create your own.

STEPHANIE HALFEN

DH STUDIO

HER FAVORITE ROOM: In the heart of this Miami Belle Meade Residence, we created a living room that unfolds like a continuous dialogue between architecture, nature and luxury in a space that is a testament to re ned modernism. The owners had a very strong design point of view and wanted to display a minimalist aesthetic while incorporating some of the modernity of Miami into their new home. They asked SDH to help them curate pieces in harmony with the home’s natural framework, favoring clean silhouettes attuned to the streamlined architecture: the gently curved sofas, rounded tables, and area rugs with angular patterns. So , neutral browns and creams paired with wood grain and deeply veined stone attest to SDH’s tropical modern style. Additional saturated hues came courtesy of the couple’s art collection. The living room embodies everything we sought to achieve in this residence. It is a space of uidity and harmony, where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors disappear, allowing natural light and greenery to play an active role in the experience of the home.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE SPACE: The circular pendant light xture above the dining table holds a special place in my heart. Suspended in perfect harmony, its dramatic glowing rings appear to oat e ortlessly, their warm illumination echoing the inviting atmosphere of the entire home. This xture is more than just a source of light; it’s a work of art that elevates the entire composition of this space. Every time I see it, it reminds me of how intentional design choices can transform a house into a home.

Visit Lauderdale is your guide to the ultimate staycation in this tropical paradise. We’ve got you covered on what’s going on for everyone under the sun.

PERLA LICHI

ERLA LICHI DESIGN

HER FAVORITE ROOM: I can and have designed interiors in every style imaginable. But this entryway is my favorite because it says so much. I took a small entrance and created a gallery that tells the story of the person who lives there. All you need to do is open the door and you see there is nothing ordinary about it. You perfectly understand that this is the home of a unique person. The art, the accessories, the architecture--all work together to reveal the soul of this person. The entryway is the rst impression and the last impression.

HOW IT REFLECTS HER STYLE: Every single piece of art in this entryway has a special meaning. Every client has a di erent personal or favorite style, and frankly, most clients prefer more conservative surroundings. This room perfectly suits my style because it is unusual. I am really an artist/designer, and I love out-of-the-ordinary interiors that are lled with light, lots of art, and bright colors.

KEY ELEMENTS OF THE SPACE: Every inch was designed and embellished with colors, textures, form and function. The architectural details, artwork, lighting, walls, and ceiling all work together so you are surrounded by balance and complete feng shui.

DAWN ELISE

AWNELISE INTERIORS INTERNATIONAL, INC.

HER FAVORITE ROOM: The kitchen is, without a doubt, my favorite room in this home. It’s more than just a place to prepare meals; it’s a space that fosters connection, creativity, and everyday luxury. Every detail —from the striking natural stone countertops to the custom cabinetry and professionalgrade appliances—was thoughtfully curated to enhance both the cooking experience and the aesthetic harmony of the home. The open concept ensures it remains a gathering space, where conversations flow as easily as the meals being prepared. It’s not just a room—it’s designed to bring people together in a way that feels warm, inviting, and beautifully intentional

HOW IT REFLECTS HER STYLE: It’s an effortless blend of livable luxury, thoughtful functionality, and timeless design. The use of exquisite stone surfaces, warm wood tones, and high-end finishes creates a sophisticated yet approachable atmosphere. Custom cabinets add depth and character, while the sleek, state-of-the-art appliances ensure that the space is as practical as it is visually stunning. I also love incorporating layered lighting—soft ambient glows paired with statement fixtures. More than anything, my design approach prioritizes how a space makes people feel, and this kitchen is a perfect example of that. It’s a place where form and function work in perfect harmony, where everyday moments become special, and where people naturally gather. That, to me, is what great design is all about.

THE CURATED LIFE OF: MARYAM MONTAGUE

Maryam Montague describes herself as an American designer, hotelier and humanitarian, but that only tells a piece of her story. Montague loves to write and take photographs and is the founder of a curated online shop of tribal-inspired and Moroccan decor called M.Montague Souk, where she features her own line of unique products. With her interior design pop-up store opening in June in Coral Gables, we decided to dig for details on what she considers essential to her own stylish way of life.

Tools of your trade: “I wear a few di erent hats, so I need to be e cient. I love to take a dose of Lion’s Mane mushroom elixir in my morning co ee (Four Sigmatic makes the best) to help me jumpstart the day. I swear by the Neorhthym (omnipemf.com), which is a wearable neurostimulation device that in uences brainwave activity. I also o en listen to Brain.fm, which has music playlists that optimize brain activity. As you can tell, I am serious about holding onto every brain cell!”

Morning ritual: “I have a boutique hotel in Marrakech called Peacock Pavilions (above; peacockpavilions. com). In the early morning you can o en nd me quietly walking the meditation paths while listening to the birds wake up. I am also a passionate gardener, and nothing brings me equanimity like pruning my rose bushes. We have hundreds!”

Workout that always makes you feel

yoga class once a week, led by Kaydee Dahlin, who combines tapping, yoga and Intensati with the most incredible music playlist. On Saturday mornings I get a sports massage from a physical therapist named Yusuf, who o en incorporates dry needling or cupping (hijama) and makes me feel like a brand-new person (well, almost!).”

Outside of your home, your happy place: “There is nothing quite like Bacha Co ee, a co ee house in a historic palace in the Marrakech medina. It’s what I imagine the Orient Express feels like: ne porcelain, golden co ee pots, and tall, elegant waiters. It also has a co ee menu that has over 100 co ee choices. Such a treat!”

Shopping spot in South Florida: “My favorite Carolina Design District. Everything

chic. I have a collection of her ca ans and one of her jumpsuits with hand-sequined golden birds gets me stopped in the streets of Marrakech by people asking me where I purchased it. It’s no surprise that Carolina also adores Marrakech; I think we just might be kindred spirits.”

Can’t-live-without travel bag: “I have used the same set of Rimowa aluminum luggage (rimowa.com) with caramel leather handles for almost a decade and it still looks great, despite 6-8 international trips a year. I recently purchased the Cuyana Mila Satchel (top right; Cuyana.com) in chestnut, which has an integrated luggage sleeve and clever internal organization.”

Causes that have your heart: “In 2013, my husband and I founded Project Soar (projectsoar.org), a non-pro t organization that works to empower teen girls, keep them in school and avoid child marriage. Project Soar has developed its own UN-backed solution and has grown to 42 chapters across Morocco and is also now in Syria and Lebanon. The Soar team has delivered 21,000+ hours of leadership training, helping girls break the cycle of poverty and go on to productive futures.”

magic. I love her embroidered motto is 'The handmade.’ matching robes are so

Prized possession: “I have a bespoke ring that acts as a personal talisman designed by Kim Dunham (kimdunham. com). It incorporates snake symbology (renewal, transformation, personal growth), a gem pyramid (I was born in Cairo), my universal number 9 (add the day, month and year of your birth together), as well as an inscription in Latin that means, Words, not deeds. This ring acts as a daily reminder for me of my past, present and future.”

IT’S A VIBE: FORT LAUDERDALE’S BURGEONING RESTAURANT SCENE IS RIFE WITH OVER-THE-TOP INTERIOR DESIGNS WORTHY OF A DINE.

ew Fort Lauderdale restaurants make you pause and take a beat before making your way to your table, but TIMBR restaurant — newly positioned in a Las Olas building with grittier past lives as Automatic Slims and Tilted Kilt — is worthy of lingering to drink in all its fantastical beauty.

In the main dining room aptly named The Parc, live trees soar skyward and ickering re y lights — 750, to be precise — dangle from the ceiling, adding to the room’s magic. In the background, a glassed-in kitchen is abuzz with a small army of chefs orchestrating the restaurant’s proclaimed vineyard cuisine. “My idea was to create an estate kitchen,” says Michael Tronn, creative director of TIMBR and 3 Hospitality. “Like, here we are in this forest and having a twilight picnic, and in the distance is this little chateau where they’re making fabulous food.” Even in the middle of downtown Fort Lauderdale, he nailed the vibe.

There’s no ashy big-name design rm involved; instead, Tronn, one of the restaurant’s three partners, worked for ve years to bring his vision to life. The team gutted the 110-year-old building and transformed its exterior with a black-andwhite facade, iron Juliette balconies and ower boxes. “I worked with a brick maker to come up with every brick silhouette. It’s made to look like the building has been here,” Tronn says of the bricks’ pie-crust e ect, noting that the contractors thought he was crazy for using exterior wood in Florida. “We’re not doing a Disney version of a European building, but creating a European-style building,” Tronn explains. “The older it becomes, the more authentic it will look.”

The open kitchen boasts extravagance rarely seen in a restaurant kitchen: a copper hood

THE OPEN KITCHEN BOASTS EXTRAVAGANCE RARELY SEEN IN A RESTAURANT KITCHEN: A COPPER HOOD EXTENDING THE LENGTH OF THE KITCHEN. “YOU COULD BUY A CAR FOR THAT,” TRONN QUIPS ABOUT THE HOOD’S PRICE TAG.

extending the length of the kitchen (“You could buy a car for that,” Tronn quips about the hood’s price tag), walls are impractically covered in Ann Sacks handcra ed tiles. But the real fairytale factor is in the adjacent Atrium, another dining room where 90,000 faux owers organically grow from the walls and ceiling.

On the second oor, Tronn exhibits his version of “tiki” in a moody lounge dripping in surprising global accents, like a wall aunting Tibetan dialect based upon a poem Tronn wrote, and a nearby table where marbles continuously design sand mandalas. “This is the 34th place I have been responsible for,” Tronn says. “I always try to inspire people creatively and give some sparks to their imagination. Despite a world where restaurants o en disappear as quickly as fairy dust, when it comes to the great expense of a standout design,

At Pier Sixty-Six's Calusso, a striking carved walnut tunnel greets guests as they enter.

Tronn believes this enchanting establishment has staying power. “We are built to last. We used a lot of classic elements, so it’s fresh, but timeless.”

Not too far away, at newcomer Mykonos set along the New River, owner Aydin Kharaghani and his team at The Entourage Group touched every space, also declining the services of a design company. “Everything you see is a collaborative e ort,” Kharaghani says. “We feel like when everyone comes together you have a lot more creative ow, whereas when you focus on one designer the creative juices are limited.”

Like its name implies, the restaurant’s aesthetic is meant to transport guests to Greece as they dine on Mediterraneanin uenced cuisine. A breeze o the river ows through the open-air restaurant with its eye-catching accents, such as the evil eye mural created by Kharaghani’s brother, hanging rattan lamps, oversized planters lled with lush greenery, and billowing curtained ceilings that add warmth and texture to the former industrial space. A strategic highlight is the indoor-outdoor dining spaces that capitalize on the riverfront views, and westward-facing windows that bathe the dining room in golden-hour light to easily transition the space from happy hour to a sexy, evening vibe.

But for Kharaghani, the design goes deeper than what’s in plain sight. “With our extensive experience in developing food and beverage concepts in hotels, we are focused on perfecting the ner details that create a signi cant impact,” he says of the group’s robust hospitality portfolio from Fort Lauderdale to Canada. “For example, the height of a table can change a guest’s entire experience. If it’s a little too high, they feel uncomfortable, but they don’t know why they’re uncomfortable. We’ve got it down to a science, from the feels to the textures and even the smells.”

To his point, the faint scent of fresh herbs grown in the open kitchen mingled with burning incense oats through the restaurant. Kharaghani’s design ethos goes as deep as

perfecting the lighting, which not only renders dishes ready for “camera-eats- rst” photographs but also for awless sel es. “Why not have an experience where everyone can say, ‘I look great in that photo,’” he says. Tapping into social media trends that drive patrons to eateries and hotels, photoready spots have been installed around the restaurant, from a sand box backdrop at the entrance that mimics a Grecian beach to a large peacock sculpture that garners center stage on the outdoor terrace.

At Pier Sixty-Six, a behemoth resort set on 32 acres, a bevy of interior designers transformed the 60-year-old icon into a modern showstopper. The resort’s signature restaurant, Calusso, imagined by ASD|SKY rm, is an architectural masterpiece where you’re instantly hit with the “wow” factor. “Guests are immediately swept into a strikingly carved walnut tunnel, whose rich, earthy tones serve as a dramatic prelude,” says Rebecca Wilcox, interior designer at ASD | SKY. She suggests guests cozy up to the Zebrino marble bar edged by Arteriors hammered-iron stools upholstered in a custom Opuzen fabric. “It’s a vintageinspired Italian pattern, a delicate, tactile contrast that adds to the overall sense of re ned luxury,” Wilcox notes.

The space unfurls into intimate niches, each out tted with plush velvet sofas, yet the dining room o ers a swi transition thanks to a ShawContract rug dripping in a serene palette of blues and greens that evoke the splashes of the ocean’s waves. “Above, the ceilings curve in a graceful mimicry of a beach swell, its gentle undulations mirrored above to create the sensation of gazing upward at the re ective surface of the sea,” Wilcox says, although diners may wish to retreat to the wraparound terrace meant to transport diners to the Italian Riviera. And if that’s not impressive enough, move to the rotating Pier Top lounge, where bubbly, caviar service and 360-degree views will elevate the night. Seems that elevated design is on the menu as Fort Lauderdale restaurants make space for interiors that are just as important as the food. ■

Billowing curtained ceilings lend airiness to the interiors of Mykonos.

Mutra

Its name translates to “rain of blessings,” and it’s easy to see why Israeli-born Chef/Owner Raz Shabtai chose that moniker for Mutra. Shabtai, whose mantra is “food is holy,” has crystallized that philosophy by drawing on culinary traditions from around the world, including his hometown of Jerusalem.

“We’re taking the food my grandmother made and that we ate as kids and making something new from it,” he says.

“For example, my grandmother grew up in Tunisia, where fricassee was a very popular sandwich, served on fried bread like a doughnut and stu ed with harissa, lemon, potatoes, tuna from the can, cooked carrots and chopped salad. For my version of this dish, I sub in the fresh catch of the day, as we work with local shermen and use special techniques to elevate it.” Other treats to taste: Chicken Liver Dreaming to Become Foie Gras, with date honey, crunchy shallot, pistachio crumble, cornichon and grilled bread, and 1 Perfect Falafel, a falafel croquette, Tahiamba, tomato gel, Israeli salad, zaatar, pickled red onion and mock cilantro.

How does South Florida real estate sales compare to other markets?

The South Florida market is still one of the hottest in the country. With favorable taxation, a highly desirable climate and a wealth of natural amenities, South Florida continues as one of the most desirable places in the nation to live. More and more people continue to relocate here on a full-time basis and new cultural o erings, restaurants and activities are following.

What are the top 3 things that distinguish you from your competition?

First, I have a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success in the local market. Also, I have been a resident of Fort Lauderdale for 29 years. Second, Sotheby’s International Realty is the only true global luxury real estate brand with over 1,100 o ces in 84 countries. Third, through our personal relationships, our sellers reach a highly quali ed global clientele and our buyers

receive access to remarkable products and agents around the world. Sotheby’s history and our unmatched reputation give our listings the best-in-class exposure they deserve and assures buyers they are working with a trusted partner.

What else do you want our readers to know about you?

I rst obtained a New Jersey real estate license in 1990, prior to graduating from Rutgers University in 1994. I obtained my Florida real estate broker’s license in 1998 and I was one of the initial agents when ONE Sotheby’s International Realty opened the Fort Lauderdale o ce 15 years ago. I am proud to consistently rank as a multi-year top producing agent for the company, which now includes over 1,400 agents, and none of this would have been possible without loyal and repeat clients and a very strong referral base. Trustworthiness, integrity, perseverance and empathy are most important and have allowed me to stand out and be successful in a very competitive industry.

20803 Biscayne Blvd. Suite 102, Aventura, FL 33180 (305) 409-0019 | Denise@DeniseRubinGroup.com www.DeniseRubin.com

When you meet a client, how do you di erentiate yourself?

I am ranked No. 1 at Coldwell Banker, Aventura and I am in the top half of one percent of Real estate agents globally. I am a host of the American Dream, a national real estate television show where I showcase my listings. Among other things, I have also surpassed over $2.7 billion in personal sales! I love what I do and sell from South Beach to Palm Beach. From contract to closing, I make sure every aspect of your transaction is streamlined.

Can you share a recent success story where you helped a client sell a property? What made that experience memorable?

I’m no stranger to record breaking sales, I have broken the record in the city of Aventura before. However, I just had a record-breaking sale in Hidden Bay (where I’ve personally sold over 266 condos). Previously, the highest sale in the history of Hidden Bay was

$2,950,000 for a much larger condo (also my sale), and I broke that record by selling unit 3313 for $3,500,000. This is also the highest $/ SF sale in the history of the building. I represented both the listing and the buyer, and they are both very happy with the result. This sale was even featured in The Real Deal!

What has accounted for your huge success in real estate?

My 24/7 work ethic, negotiation skills, experience and knowledge of the market set me apart. Exposure is everything; I promote my listings with local, national, and global marketing programs. My online and social media presence place my listings in front of millions daily. As a result, I have 32 Best Awards from the Builder’s Association of South Florida for many marketing categories and I’m a seven-time winner of the Best Real Estate Professional. I also have a large international client base with repeat business.

CONNIE SPISKE

DESIGNER

SUNCONSULT HOME SERVICE COMPANY

General Contracting and Interior Design www.sunconsultservice.com | 754-236-4022

What do you consider the most essential element of any successful design project?

Clear vision, seamless communication, and quality execution— these are the keys to a successful design project. With both general contracting and design under one roof, we eliminate delays and streamline decision-making, making us the fastest remodelers in town. Our e cient process allows us to complete a 2-bedroom apartment remodel in just 4 weeks while ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and top-quality cra smanship. Plus, with an architectural license from Germany, we bring a deep understanding of projects from A to Z, ensuring precision, e ciency, and intelligent design solutions at every stage.

Do you believe there are any design no-nos, especially living in South Florida, or are you of the “no rules” mindset?

Design should be creative, but in South Florida, functionality is key. Avoiding materials that can’t withstand humidity, skipping proper ventilation, or neglecting hurricane-resistant elements are major no-nos. Aesthetic freedom is great, but smart, climate conscious choices ensure lasting, high-quality results.

What’s new and fresh in the design world (hate to use the word “trend,” so I’m avoiding it here) that you love right now?

Coming from Europe, we bring a re ned, functional approach to design, blending timeless cra smanship with modern innovation. Right now, we love the shi toward minimalist luxury—clean lines, high-quality materials, and smart, space-e cient solutions. The European touch emphasizes seamless integration, from custom built cabinetry to innovative storage, creating spaces that are both elegant and practical.

What’s your design motto?

Our motto is ”Creating spaces – enhancing lives“. As general contractors and designers, we believe great design goes beyond aesthetics—it improves functionality, comfort, and overall wellbeing. In residential projects, this means creating spaces that feel e ortless and inviting. For commercial projects, it means designing environments that boost e ciency, enhance customer experience, and re ect the brand’s identity. By combining smart planning with high-quality cra smanship, we create spaces that not only look beautiful but also elevate everyday living and working.

Which Kitchen Design Trends are Dominating the South Florida Scene?

South Florida kitchens are constantly evolving, and the trends are more innovative and bold than ever before. Mid-Century Modern vibes are stealing the spotlight, remixed with Scandinavian air—think rich, earthy wood tones, cozy warm hues, and textured elements like hand-glazed tiles, luxe leather, and tactile wall fabrics. These elements don’t just look good; they feel good, transforming the kitchen into a sensory masterpiece.

Storage is king—but it must be sleek and seamless. Hidden nooks for countertop appliances are non-negotiable. “A place for everything, and everything in its place.”

What Sparked Your Passion for Kitchen Design?

35 years ago, my mother, Susan Rocco, turned her own kitchen redo into a revolution. Frustrated by cookie-cutter cabinet shops that largely ignored design and space planning, she founded a rm dedicated to the art of the kitchen. I grew up in that world, where the kitchen wasn’t just a room—it was the heartbeat of the home. A space to cook, connect, and create memories.

Watching her pour her soul into every project taught me one thing: Kitchen design isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. It’s about cra ing the soul of a space, one that moves with you, day in and day out, shaping your life for decades. That’s the legacy I carry forward.

What’s Your Dream Kitchen Project?

Give me a sprawling space, oods of natural light, and a client who loves to cook or host a crowd—and I’m ready to go to work. With those ingredients, every project becomes a dream kitchen.

What Sets You and Your Firm Apart from the Competition?

We’re not just kitchen designers—we’re kitchen curators. As one of the rare rms that also sells ne appliances, we handpick from over 25 elite brands to bring your vision to life, awlessly. No running around, no compromises—just one-stop precision.

With over 120 years of combined expertise and 35 years as a family-run powerhouse, we bring a personal touch the big guys can’t match. Every detail, every client, every kitchen—it’s personal to us. And that’s the di erence you’ll feel from the rst sketch to the nal reveal.

It’s about being bold, experimenting with new ideas, and exploring the outer edges of interior design possibilities. For instance, it could mean utilizing unconventional or advanced materials to introduce unique textures, colors, or properties that lend a futuristic or avant-garde feel to interior spaces. Additionally, integrating technology, such as smart home features or interactive displays, plays a signi cant role in staying ahead. Moreover, being environmentally conscious is increasingly seen as cutting-edge and essential. This might entail incorporating renewable materials, energy-e cient systems, or green building techniques into designs to minimize environmental impact.

What inspires you on a daily basis?

I nd inspiration all around me, especially in nature. Whether it’s consciously or subconsciously, natural landscapes, plants, and animals constantly in uence my creativity. The colors, textures, and patterns I observe in the natural world o en guide my design choices, infusing my work with organic shapes and calming tones. I also draw inspiration from art and architecture. Exploring various artworks and architectural styles from di erent eras and cultures sparks fresh ideas and deepens my understanding of design principles and techniques. The architecture I interact with directly shapes my designs. My goal is to create harmony within the space I’m working on, ensuring that my creations blend seamlessly with their surroundings.

DOING GOOD IS GOOD BUSINESS: WHY CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ISN’T OPTIONAL ANYMORE

Once upon a time, companies could get away with writing a check to charity, snapping a photo with an oversized donation board, and calling it a day. But not anymore! Today’s consumers, employees, and investors are paying attention—and they expect brands to do more than just talk a good game.

But CSR isn’t just for outdoor brands or activist-driven companies. Law firms supporting pro bono work, financial institutions investing in underserved communities, even local businesses implementing ethical sourcing—every industry can (and should) find a way to give back in an authentic way.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is no longer a buzzword; it’s a business imperative. At its core, CSR means companies taking responsibility for their impact—on people, the planet, and society at large. And here’s the kicker: when done right, it’s not just about being ethical. It’s about building loyalty, boosting brand reputation, and even driving profits.

Take Patagonia, the gold standard of CSR. Instead of just making eco-friendly gear, they’ve embedded environmental activism into their DNA. They encourage customers to repair, not replace, their clothes. They sued the U.S. government over public land protection. And in 2022, founder Yvon Chouinard did the unthinkable—he gave away the entire company to fight climate change. Now that’s commitment!

At BoardroomPR, we take this responsibility to heart. Giving back isn’t a PR stunt— it’s a core value. We are proud to support Florida Children’s First, JAFCO, the Holocaust Museum of South Florida, Goodman Jewish Family Services, the Alzheimer’s Association, and many other vital organizations. My mother always taught me that making a difference is what truly makes you feel great—and I believe the same applies to businesses. The key? Make it real. Consumers can smell performative activism a mile away. If your CSR strategy is just a marketing ploy, it will backfire. But if it’s woven into your brand’s identity, you’ll not only do good—you’ll do well.

Ultimately, CSR isn’t really about charity—it’s about accountability. And for businesses looking to build lasting trust, the message is clear: stand for something, or risk a fall.

UNDERSTANDING PSORIASIS: A DERMATOLOGIST’S PERSPECTIVE

WHO NEEDS REGULAR VITAMIN B-12?

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition that affects the skin, often causing red, scaly patches to appear. As a dermatologist, I encounter many patients struggling with the physical and emotional burden of psoriasis, and it is important to provide thorough and compassionate care to address their unique needs.

Answer: Most people over the age of 50. Due to changes in digestion as we age, which includes a decrease in stomach acid production, the body’s ability to absorb B12 can decline. Regular use of antacids and ulcer medications can also interfere with B12 absorption. Which means, taking a Vitamin B-12 capsule will most likely not help you. You need to take it either sub-lingual (under the tongue) or injection.

Why is having optimal Vitamin B-12 as we age is critical for healthy aging? Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that plays a vital role in some of the body’s most important functions. These include the development and performance of the central nervous system, the formation of healthy red blood cells and the synthesis of DNA.

When discussing treatment options, it’s essential to consider the individual’s overall health, lifestyle, and any existing medical conditions. Topical treatments, phototherapy, systemic medications, and biologic therapies are among the available options. Each has its benefits and potential side effects, so a thorough discussion with the patient is vital in selecting the most suitable approach.

And while the body needs B12, it cannot produce it. In its natural form, B12 is found in animal-based products. It is most abundant in liver, and present in significant amounts in red meat, shellfish, fish and turkey. Eggs, chicken and dairy products also provide B12, but in smaller amounts.

However, addressing the physical symptoms of psoriasis is only part of the equation. The psychological impact of this condition should not be underestimated. Many patients experience feelings of self-consciousness, embarrassment, and even depression due to the visible nature of their psoriatic lesions. As a dermatologist, offering empathy and support can be as important as providing medical treatment. Referring patients to support groups or mental health professionals can also be beneficial.

The symptoms of Vitamin B-12 deficiency can be like some of the effects of aging. This can lead to them being ignored or even misdiagnosed. Someone with a B12 deficiency may feel weak or tired, have trouble with balance or walking, experience numbness or tingling in the feet or hands, feel depressed, and experience confusion, memory problems or other changes to cognition.

In addition to medical management, educating patients about triggers and lifestyle modifications can empower them to take an active role in managing their condition. Stress, certain medications, infections, and even weather changes can exacerbate psoriasis, so equipping patients with this knowledge can make a significant difference in their quality of life.

At LowTE Florida® we provide individualized treatment based on your biochemistry and your medical history using the proven bioidentical hormone pellets grounded in science, not guesswork. For more information, go to: LowTEFlorida.com or call 954-791-4498.

Navigating the multifaceted challenges of psoriasis requires a comprehensive approach. By providing personalized, empathetic care, addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of the condition, and empowering patients with knowledge, we can strive to improve the well-being of those living with psoriasis.

Designer Tatiana Seikaly shares her perspective and her process

I’m meeting you for the first time to discuss having you design the interiors of my home. What are the three most important things you want me to know about you and your design philosophy?

A home should be filled with only items you love. It’s important to note that simply buying furniture to fill a space isn’t enough to make a house feel like a home.

Second, my design philosophy is centered around creating timeless and inviting spaces. I believe in blending styles, incorporating art, and adding thoughtful details that reflect your personality and lifestyle.

Lastly, collaboration is key. I want to understand how you live, what inspires you, and how we can make your space both beautiful, functional and authentically yours.

As an international art collector, do you introduce art into the conversation with your clients who aren’t collectors themselves? Yes, art plays a significant role in my design philosophy. Fortunately, many of my clients are art collectors, and I love helping them integrate artful furniture pieces to build a collection of both art and furniture. For those new to collecting, I always advise patience — it's important to wait for the right piece. We don't need to fill every space the moment they move in.

What is most challenging about designing in South Florida?

Primarily the climate. The heat, humidity, and hurricane risks mean I need to prioritize durable, weatherresistant materials and thoughtful architecture. Balancing the indooroutdoor lifestyle with functionality is key; it's all about creating spaces that feel light, breezy, and inviting while standing up to the elements.

What is the one design element that can transform a space but is often overlooked?

A rug! Many people tend to choose rugs that are too small for their space. Simply upgrading to the right size can instantly make a room feel more luxurious and well-proportioned.

Design elements you consider a must: I always prioritize timelessness, functionality, and playfulness in my designs. Natural materials, layered textures, and curated lighting are essential to creating warmth and depth in a space. I also love integrating cultural elements, whether through handcrafted pieces, vintage finds, or architectural details that nod to different heritages.

Answer the following: In my own home, my favorite space is…. My living room. I love all the objects and furniture I’ve collected over the years. Each piece holds a story, whether it’s a vintage find from my travels or a custom piece I designed myself. The space feels layered and personal, bringing me comfort and inspiration every day. It’s where I unwind, host, and feel most at home.
