Windows Fundamentals: lntroduction - How to Use the Computer

Length: Six Sessions (2-week class)

Max 12 students

When: Tue, Thur, Fri August 12, 14, 15 I 19,21,22 al 12'.30-3:30 pm

Pre-Req: To attend this class, ALL students must have access to their OWN computers and have Microsoft Word installed on their computer. Students should have competent keyboarding skills to get the most out of this class. lf you need to improve your own typing skills, search ONLINE for kevboardinq tutorials to ensure your success in this class.

Description: Have you ever used a computer? Do you wish you knew how you could use a computer? This is an introductory class that gives you a lot of practice with basic word processing skills. Using Windows 10, you will learn the standard features for using your home computer and will become more comfortable typing basic projects such as a letter, a recipe, a list, create files and save them in folders on your computer, and many more computer-based tasks. Now you can have fun with your computer.

NOTE: lf you have never taken any kind of basic typing / keyboard class and want to develop or improve your own Keyboard Typing Skills, before you begin this class, consider searching the lnternet for one of the FREE Keyboard Tutorials (selfteaching experiences). r Android Phone: How to use 3 L--

Length: Two Sessions

Max: 6 students

When: Wednesday and Thursday, August 25,27, at 9:00am-12:00pm

Pre-Req: To enroll in this class all students must have an Android phone, Samsung preferably. Please bring your fully-charged Android phone and your charging cord to class. You will have created a Google/Gmail address and know your password. (lf you need to, write them down on a piece of paper so you can use them in class.)

Description: This training is limited to 6 participants. ln this class, you will learn how to change various settings. We will make sure your phone is set up to sync [backup], contacts, photos, and apps. You will be introduced to using the Google calendar, setting up your contacts, email, and photos. ln the Computer lab we will use Google Chrome on a computer to see what is on your phone.

Pre-Req: YourApple Watch must be Series 5 (2019) or newer. You must bring a fully charged iPhone and Apple Watch to class.

Description: "You may have an Apple Watch on your wrist, but do you know all the cool things it can do?" Try this 3-hour workshop and learn how to get the most out of yourApple Watch, from tracking your heart rate to finding your iPhone to keeping you connected with everything you care about.

Description: Excel is a Microsoft spreadsheet program that enables users to format, organize and calculate data in a spreadsheet. ln this class,r you will be introduced to spreadsheets and basic data functions of Excel for home use. You will learn how to use formulas, create multiple spreadsheets as well as how to sort data.

Length: One Session

Description: ln this class you will learn how to use the photo editing tools built into Google Photos. They include viewing and downloading the app (program) to a computer, cropping, using filters, adding graphics, and sharing the results.

Pre-Req: Must have an iPhone 10 (or newer), know how to make and answer phone calls, and how to listen to voice messages. Please bring your fully-charged iPhone and your charging cord.

Description: ln this class, students will learn how to adjust the sound, discuss privacy and change a few other important settings which includes a discussion about backing up your iPhone and the importance and value of having an iCloud account. Students will be provided tips for using the iPhone features and adding to Favorites as well as being given recommendations about entering Contacts. You will be introduced to some texting tips, Map usage, and a variety of ways to use Siri and ios18.

Question & Answer Session

Length: One Session

Max: All students are invited to come with their questions. When: Monday, September 8, al 12'.30-3:30pm

Taught by: The computer lab will be staffed by a variety of instructors to help you with any and all questions.

Pre-Req: Be prepared by bringing your questions with you. Maybe you can recall our one-day "Q & A Session" that was offered in the past.

Description: This is an informal session to have your questions answered. Is your question about any of the topics covered in our computer lab classes? Are you needing help with a question on a project you are working on with your computer or another device? Have you purchased an Apple Watch, an iPhone or Android phone? Are you looking for some specific help using them? Do you need some support to better use your personal Laptop or Desktop Computer? lf so, bring your computer or device with you; at the end of the Group "Q & A" class session, if necessary, one of the instructors can help you on an individual basis.

Shutterfly Online Scrapbooking

Length: Two Sessions

Max: 12 Students

Pre-Req.: You must download the Shuttedly App (Program) to your iPhone orAndroid phone before you come to class.

Description: Shutterfly is an online website that allows you to, not only store your photos for free, but will let you print your photos on a multitude of surfaces: scrapbooks, cards, stationery, calendars, personalized gifts, home decor, and more. This class will teach you how to create a scrapbook, but you can use the skills you learn in class to personalize many other cool products.

Description: Have you heard your family or friends talk about "strearhing movies or other programs?" Are you curious? "Do you want to learn how you, too, can stream on the internet and what the advantages are? Different options discussing internet providers, services, options to use smart TV fire stick or Roku devices will be explained.

Description: Are you wanting to be able to type a letter, save a document, create a folder, organize your files by categories, create a list, create labels for a mailing, create and send out an invitation, type and save one of your favorite recipes? ln Word you will be introduced to these activities and much more.
