News for our Parish Community
April 22, 2020
God-with-us in the Time of COVID-19. In all times, we live, move, and have our being in God. Because of this reality, I am comforted and trust the peace of God that passes all understanding. The challenges, sadness, grief, and deaths that the world is experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic are all being held in the wide embrace, mercy, and love of the Divine. Eastertide is a noteworthy proclamation that in God new beginnings are created in the darkest times. In his book, Following Jesus: Finding Our Way Home in an Age of Anxiety, Father Henri Nouwen writes that, “Jesus, therefore, reveals God as a God who wants to be even closer to his people than his people could every possibly imagine. The great good news of the Gospel is precisely that God wants to be with us to share our struggle, walk our way, suffer our pain, and die our death, so that we are able to say, ‘There is nothing human that God does not share with us.’ That is the great good news. God is with us in every aspect of our lives.”
