SEVEN SACRED TEACHINGS

LOVE must be unconditional; to know love is to know peace To feel true love is to know the Creator . Love given to the Creator is expressed through love of oneself, and it is understood that if one cannot love oneself, it is impossible to love anyone else .

To honour all of the Creation is to have RESPECT. Respect is the condition of being honoured

COURAGE is to face the foe with integrity . Courage is the ability to face danger, fear, or changes with confidence and bravery

HONESTY also means “righteousness”, be honest first with yourself – in word and action . Honesty is speaking and acting truthfully, and thereby remaining morally upright

To cherish knowledge is to know WISDOM Wisdom is the ability to make decisions based on personal knowledge and experience

HUMILITY is to know yourself as a sacred part of the Creation . Humility is being humble and not arrogant

TRUTH is to know and understand all the seven teachings have given to us by the creator and to remain faithful to them

Time Cherished

This work of art was commissioned as a gift for the Class of 2024. In Time Cherished, Emma Lafontaine depicts graduates leaving the familiarity of Northwestern Polytechnic’s campus, as they step into a bright and fulfilling future. Equipped and energized with new knowledge and skills, enduring bonds, and shared memories, NWP’s Wolfpack is heading towards new adventures with their post-secondary experience firmly imprinted in their heads and hearts.

Born in Timmins, Ontario, Emma Lafontaine eventually moved to Alberta’s Peace Country and grew up in Grande Cache. Captivated by art since childhood and with a fondness for India ink and gouache, she is currently studying Visual Arts and Design at Northwestern Polytechnic. Her work continues to impress and has been featured at the Glass Gallery and Year End Student Exhibition on the Northwestern Polytechnic campus (2023-24), the Beaverlodge Art & Culture Centre (2024), and the Grande Prairie Stompede Arts & Cultural Expo (2022-23).
