Welcome to Northwestern Polytechnic

You’re going to love it here!

Northwestern Polytechnic campuses are located on Treaty 8 territory, the ancestral and present-day home to many diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people. We are grateful to work, live, and learn on the traditional territory of Duncan’s First Nation, Horse Lake First Nation, and Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, who are the original caretakers of this land.

We acknowledge the history of this land and we are thankful for the opportunity to walk together in friendship, where we will encourage and promote positive change for present and future generations.

Whether you want to manage expectations about the first day of classes or learn more about key dates and deadlines, technology requirements, or delivery methods – we’ve got you covered.

Time to Register.

Now that you have your myNWP account up and running, it is time to register for your classes!

Divide and Conquer.

Online registration is set up for one semester at a time. Most students will choose courses in both Fall and Winter and you will want to do the same to stay on track for graduation. If you are starting in Winter – pick your classes for that semester first and then move on to Fall.

Scheduling your future.

All registration starts in the same place:

Step

Sign into myNWP and check your Application Status under the Admissions tab. If you have paid your deposit, everything should be ready to roll.

Step

Click on the Registration Tab.

Step

Select Credit Courses from the menu. You can find courses and selections by using the Selection Search option.

Step

Select a Period – either Fall, Winter, or Spring.

Some programs use block registration, instead of individual selections. This means that courses will be organized into a group for you to select. Block registration typically applies to the following programs:

Step

Add a course to your cart.

Step

Choose Proceed to Registration when browsing courses OR viewing your cart.

Step

Select Register OR return to the Credit Courses page and select the Period.

Review your schedule and accept the conditions. This is the time to remove unwanted courses in your cart. You can also drop any courses that you’ve registered for but don’t want.

Finalize Changes.

>> Under the Period heading, choose a semester from the drop-down menu

>> Click Submit

11

Helpful Hints.

By the Numbers.

Course Codes identify an offering, for example, Introduction to University Chemistry II is coded as CH1020.

Subtype is how the course is delivered.

It might be a Lecture, Lab, Seminar, or any combination of the three.

Section is used to distinguish different sections of the same course offered on different days and times in each semester.

Finding great courses.

There are lots of ways to narrow down your selections.

>> Keywords (i.e., Psych)

>> Term (i.e., 2024 Fall)

>> A course code (i.e., PY1040)

>> Subject (i.e., AH)

>> Try Advanced Search

Changing your mind.

When viewing your cart, select Remove to the right of the course if you no longer want to register for the course or section.

Dealing with error messages.

Trying to add a course but not having luck? You may not be eligible to register for that course. If you believe there’s been a mistake, please connect with the Registrar’s Office.

Dropping Courses.

Once you are registered in a course, you have until the Add/Drop Courses deadline to make changes. You can modify your selections from the home page:

>> Select Registration, then Credit Courses from the menu

>> Choose which Period you would like change

>> Check Drop to the right of the course/courses

>> Complete by accepting the disclaimer then

Finalize Changes and Next to complete

You will now be able to see an updated schedule and revised fee schedule.

If you have any trouble making changes to your schedule, the Registrar’s Office can help. Contact registration@nwpolytech.ca, call 780-539-2981, or visit us in person at the Registrar's Office.

12

Transfer Credits.

Once you have been accepted into an NWP credential program, you can apply to have your previous education evaluated. Transfer Credit assessments are completed as part of the admission process and letters advising of the outcome are issued when program acceptance is communicated.

Waitlists.

NWP uses waitlists for courses that are currently at capacity. If you are waitlisted, and a seat becomes available, you will be notified by email. To accept a waitlist spot, you may register online or contact the Registrar’s Office at 780-539-2981, registration@nwpolytech.ca, or in person.

If you do not accept the seat within 72-hours of email receipt, you will remain on the waitlist but will be moved to the bottom of the list.

You may join multiple waitlists, but only one waitlist per course. Meaning that, if you are registered in one section, you may not waitlist in other sections. To streamline the process for everyone, the Registrar’s Office will monitor registrations and remove students from duplicate sections. The Registrar’s Office has the right to decide which section(s) will be dropped based on enrolment.

Students can update their email address using My Profile on myNWP. It is very important to keep an updated email address to ensure you receive NWP emails, waitlist offers, and other exciting news.
