CEO SPOTLIGHT GPB RECEIVES EIGHT EMMY NOMINATIONS by GPB CEO Teya Ryan This month, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Chapter will host its first live awards ceremony since the summer of 2019 before the onset of the pandemic, and GPB is up for eight Emmy awards. Among our nominations, I’m honored to report that we’re once again a contender in the Overall Excellence category, which recognizes the accomplishments of a media organization as a whole. GPB has previously won this award in 2012, 2015 and 2017. Additionally, GPB received nominations for our original series Lawmakers and Your Fantastic Mind, as well as the investigative documentary Saving Juliette, which examines the high cancer rates in the Middle Georgia town in relation to its water supply. Other nominated programs include two projects produced through GPB’s education division, Georgia Peanuts Live Exploration and Hope Givers, a series focused on youth mental health. Of note, The 2021 Georgia Tech Inventure Prize and 2021 Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards, two annual GPB broadcasts, were also nominated. As a donor, your support assures that we can produce and deliver this meaningful content to our audiences – whether it’s spotlighting the talents of burgeoning young artists, investigating the story behind a community health crisis or introducing students to the importance of one of Georgia’s most well- known agricultural products. Please accept my thanks for your role in bringing this content to our viewers and wish us luck during the awards ceremony June 18.
