The Good Shepherd The Newsletter of your Parish Church, Autumn2016 Visit us on the web: www.goodshepherdbrighton.org.uk You are Invited in this Autumn season of mellow fruitfulness to join us at the Good Shepherd as we celebrate with a number of special events as well as our usual services. For me it is a season of hope and rest, notwithstanding the lengthening shadows. It is a reminder that our lives need time to slow down and reflect , especially after the hustle and bustle of summer. A quiet, serene moment spent in silent meditation can bring about fresh energy. This can be a time to build our community and thus create a better world. Aren't we all called for this? In this leaflet you will find details of our community and social events. We do hope you will find something of interest; enough to persuade you to come along and help us to build a better community together. You are assured of a warm and friendly welcome . Fr. Felix

Autumn, study groups: Thursdays at 7.30 starting 20th October The Green Room (rear of Church hall) This Autumn we are looking forward to Christmas following a Journey to the Nativity through art and prayer . Each week we will start by looking at one or two paintings to aid our discussion and consider how the 2000 year old Nativity story can be relevant to us today. We will also consider how having a visual focus, such as an icon, can be used as a means to prayer. We will finish each session by prayerfully creating an icon together (using a pre- prepared outline) in the form of a montage. There are six sessions, each of which will stand alone , so you can come to any number or all. You may also take part without being involved in creating the icon if you so wish.
