Taking The First Step

“T he heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). I have been noticing a change in myself lately. I’m still sinful, proud, and stubborn, but I have been questioning myself. I have begun to notice when I am acting this way more and more. I’ll get irritated at a co-worker (or my husband) and act out of my human heart, and then I will realize my own sin. I guess you could say I’m becoming more self-aware.

I recently saw this quote by William Gurnall: “Never venture near the door where sin dwells, lest you are dragged in.” Where have you been venturing lately? What sin have you been flirting with? Don’t play around with it; let’s nip it in the bud.

“Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16). “Hi, I’m Jessica, and I have a problem with sin in my life.”
