e’re only halfway through 2021 but the unmistakable reality is, the pandemic has already reordered all our lives. From business, education and financial sectors to the construction industry and housing markets, no one has remained untouched. Global supply chains impacted schedules, housing projects stalled, and pressure on the real estate market skyrocketed with low inventory and high demand as individuals took new measure of their lives and found them wanting. An unexpected diaspora from the cement metropolises to the greener pastures of the north resulted, driving housing prices in Simcoe County and the Georgian Triangle to new heights. Both circumstances influenced commercial and residential construction project manager, Jeremy Shaw’s, decision to forgo

moving into his new dream home in Thornbury. Shaw and his wife were deep into the construction phase of what they planned to be their forever home when the pandemic hit. This was the 15th property they’d built in five years as home builders and the nine-month building schedule soon drifted into a year and a half as they awaited delivery of materials. During that period, the Shaws too re-examined their lives’ trajectory. “Covid happened and everything that could be shaken was shaken and we realized we had our eyes on the same prize,” Shaw now says. The couple had met in Bible College fifteen years prior, married, began raising a family and migrated into home building. Over the last year and a half, with children at home for online learning, they decided it was time to turn the page on that chapter. They recommitted to their work in theology and resolved to leave the construction business behind just as their new home neared completion. “We know it’s a risk but we’re getting out of the boat and walking to the Lord,” says Shaw. “One step at a time.” An on-site or virtual Bible College will be their new mission and the dream home they just built has been placed on the market for sale without ever being occupied. The stunning property they will hand off to another owner lies on two acres in the scenic enclave of Thornbury and offers breathtaking views GoodLife | Georgian Bay Summer 2021

of Georgian Bay, Beaver Valley, the escarpment, and Wasaga. Originally designed with the objective of meeting every need of their growing family, spaces in the home were deliberately created for togetherness, separateness, and superior functionality. There are two main living areas. One on the main floor and another a floor above with a wraparound second-floor balcony that overlooks the great room below. A black and off-white colour theme was chosen for the spacious open concept floor plan. High ceilings, generous windows (by Northstar) and custom millwork are featured throughout. From white kitchen cabinetry (by Kitchen Craft) to gun metal appliances (Bosch and Samsung) to dark matte door hardware (Weisers) and black railings (Ready Railings), the light and dark affect delivers the drama while country views streaming through the windows convey the calm. At one end of the main floor lies the kitchen with a liberally-sized island, built-in wall ovens and abundant counter space and storage. The centre of the floor holds the dining table next to a perfectly-placed wet bar. The lounging area and fireplace (from Centennial) are at the far end. “The kitchen is designed for a cooking enthusiast or professional chef,” Shaw explains. “There’s a proper workspace with multiple sinks. An oversized double sink, prep sink, and a wet bar sink. All the features you need for the most elaborate or intimate entertaining settings.” There are two areas of egress from this section. Leading to a main floor bedroom, powder room, office, and mudroom and the foyer, where the grand main entrance boasts an eight-foot-high, forty-two-inch door with modern sidelights. The contemporary five-tiered bar lighting fixture dangling from the upper ceiling is from the Georgian Design Center. To the left, the magnificent stairwell leads to the upper levels, where the remaining three bedrooms and the second living area resides. There is a total of 6000 square feet of finished space in this four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence, 4000 of which is above grade. Shaw purchased the original design rendering from an architectural firm in the U.S. Then customized the structure to his liking and had plans formatted to Ontario building codes with the expertise of Steenhof Building Services Group, an architectural firm in Orillia. The set of floating stairs to the second and rooftop level divide the wings of the home. “Each are low pitch, soft step,” says Shaw. “Every step is a

half-step. So, it’s like you’re gliding up the solid white washed oak steps. They’re a beautiful feature.” The two bedrooms facing the front of the residence share a 300-square foot walkout raised patio. Glass railings here are from Railblazers. The master faces the rear of the property and enjoys a lush spa bathroom with 24 by 24 custom-sized marble-style heated porcelain floor tile, a soaker tub and oversized walk-in shower with full body sprayer, rain head and conventional shower jets. “It has everything that every family in 2021 needs,” says Shaw. “The opportunity for two home offices, walk-in closets in every bedroom, even the location of the laundry room in proximity to the bedrooms and master bedroom. You go into the master bedroom’s ensuite, through the walk-in closet and you’re into the second-floor laundry. It’s the most strategically laid out laundry/bedroom set up on the market. Super convenient. There are so many houses where the laundry room is inconvenient.” But one of the biggest draws for Shaw was the 700-foot rooftop patio with 360 degree views. “A coastal California feel is what we wanted,” he says. “The flat roof and 16-foot patio door on the main level are typical of the contemporary Malibu style. All walkouts are on grade. If you’re in the backyard there’s not even a rise.” With plenty of room to roam outside (30,000 square feet of landscaped grounds) both kids and hounds can experience the freedom of movement a country lifestyle offers. Yet downtown Thornbury is a mere five minutes away and the biking and hiking trails and all the amenities that people come to Blue Mountain for are also within range. “You’re close in proximity to Highway 26 too,” Shaw adds. “But with views like you’re not. It’s so quiet and serene there. We had a big bonfire there last week and not a single car went by.” Even the three-car garage was given the special treatment. Walls inside are finished with the same stucco as the exterior of the house. The floor is custom epoxy. Garage doors have tinted glass (Owen Sound Overhead Doors) and the entrance into the mudroom/gear room has heated floors, built-in hangers and lockers for skis, helmets, and boots. Although it was a momentous decision to release the dream home to a new buyer, Jeremy Shaw and his wife are content with their verdict. The residence is currently a featured property on the market represented by Engel & Volkers Collingwood Muskoka Brokerage.

Purchasing a home can be very stressful. Our inspection reports are clear and concise, providing relevant information regarding any deficiencies noted during an inspection in order to help the client make “an educated purchasing decision.” Covid-19 has brought dramatic changes to the real estate market. Purchasers have found themselves in multiple offer situations and often purchase a home without having a home inspection. We suggest that the home buyer contact us for a “Post Purchase” home inspection upon possession. The client will gain valuable information on the current condition of the home and any urgent improvements that should be performed.

European Integrative Wellness Technology in Wasaga Beach, ON Get out this summer with confidence! Increased energy, tighter skin, less cellulite, and shrinking fat cells are a few of the benefits of light and frequency therapies offered at Health Energies. Kim Sartor and Jackie Sartor King, two sisters from Collingwood have invested in Health Canada licenced medical devices from Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Quebec now right here in Wasaga Beach, so people from the area can use the technology in the local studio or they can purchase the devices for home use. Kim was diagnosed with sarcoidosis and asthma and relied on puffers and pharmaceutical drugs to manage these conditions. She was at the Science Center in Toronto 6 years ago and saw a documentary called The Healing Field where the producer was interviewing a manufacturer of medical devices from Italy, and she intuitively knew she needed one to address her health issues. She got on a plane and flew to Italy and purchased one of those medical devices and started using it on herself. She is now drug free and 60 pounds lighter with an immensely improved quality of life. Kim and her sister opened a local studio to offer this therapy to the public and began the journey to discovering other medical devices that could help people in a variety of ways. The first device was the Seqex from Italy that produces a pulsed electromagnetic field (mimicking the earth’s natural magnetic field) and a static magnetic field, creating ion cyclotron resonance (ICR). ICR is a

23

patented physical phenomenon related to the movement of ions in a magnetic field. More information is available at www.seqex.ca and our You Tube channel – Seqex Canada. Then, they were introduced to Vitamin D Phototherapy manufactured here in Canada for the improvement of vitamin D levels as well as improving many skin disorders. The next revolution was Plasma Phototherapy, also referred to as Photo Bio-Modulation or LLLT low level laser therapy. This technology is also natural to the body because it utilizes the spectrum of light within that of the sun’s energy range, with ten wavelengths ranging from 700 to 1200 nanometers. Those wavelengths are greatly beneficial in healing many areas of the body. This technology has been researched in a variety of medical fields internationally. The same manufacturer also produces UVC Lighting that is used to help sanitize buildings from bacteria, mold, viruses, and pathogens. There are UVC systems for airducts, surfaces and large areas. They can be used in both residential and business/commercial applications to help keep the air and surfaces sanitized without the use of chemicals. Health Wellness Industries uses medical devices from around the world, all licensed by Health Canada. The most important value for our company is the customer services and helping people achieve their wellness goals. Our staff truly cares about all the customers and advises on the best technology for everyone’s induvial needs and circumstances.

Fernwood Farms & Market L

On the Farm with Krista & Kevin Ward By Katherine Elphick Photos by Louise Jones

ocal foodies are in for a treat at Fernwood Farms and Market, especially during harvest season. “We are famous for our pumpkin pyramid,” admits Krista Ward who owns and operates the Staynerarea 110-acre farm and farm market with business partner, Kevin Ward. “It’s so amazing to see over 600 pumpkins light up the night sky!” Along with home-grown pumpkins, the red roofed farm market is known for U-Pick berries, sweet corn and other farm fresh delights. Fresh baked goods, grocery items, dairy products, meats, prepared meals and much more are also on offer. To learn more about this area farm and its rustic farm market that specializes in selling local food, this Goodlife reporter checked in with the area farmers. Here’s how the conversation with Krista and Kevin Ward unfolded.

The Ward family has been farming this land for decades. Can you tell us a bit about the farm’s history? Kevin Ward: In 1973, my parents purchased the land, which back then was an asparagus farm. They planted new crops and in 1988, they opened the farm market. Krista Ward: Kevin and I bought the land and the market in 1998, and we have been operating it ever since. What are you growing these days? Kevin Ward: In season, we have U-Pick crops for strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, currents, and pumpkins (call ahead or check the farm’s Facebook Page for picking times and dates). We also grow plenty of sweet corn, asparagus, snap peas, peas, beans, radishes, field cucumbers, zucchini, cantaloupe, a new type of squash called honey nut, and more. Krista Ward: During the local growing season, about 99 per cent of everything in our market is either grown in our fields, or comes from nearby producers. We are all about local and Ontario. Do you have any new crops on offer this year? Kevin Ward: We are growing our own popcorn, so people can take it home and pop it on the cob (the cob is put in a paper bag and then placed in a microwave to pop). It’s kind of a trendy thing on farms these days, so we decided to plant some this year and see what we can make of it. It’s funny because I planted some about 20 years ago, but folks weren’t interested back then. I guess we were just 20 years too early [laughs]. Krista Ward: We have also planted some broom corn, which is really fun for fall decorating. Beyond farm fresh fruits and vegetables, what other products line the shelves? Krista Ward: Along with a variety of baked goods and breads from our on-site bakery, we sell various frozen prepared meals, meats, eggs, ice cream, dips, sauces, pastas, spices, preserves and a variety of grocery items — really anything you need to prepare dinner. We even sell honey from our own hives. Your bakery is a hit with many customers. What are some of the top sellers? Krista Ward: People love our freshly made old style donuts, which we make on the weekends. Topped with cinnamon and sugar, they are a tradi-

tional spice cake donut and they are just delicious! We’re also famous for our various breads, and our tarts, pies, and cinnamon scones. We also have a new savoury spinach and feta pastry that we can barely keep on the shelves. Beyond masks, social distancing and plenty of hand sanitizer, how has COVID affected Fernwood Farms and Market? Krista Ward: We have everything fined tuned now, but we made lots of changes to the market when COVID first hit. We added over 50 new products, because we wanted to help people avoid long grocery store line ups. From various prepared meals to side dishes, salads, dips, condiments, staples and more — our goal was, and still is, to provide convenient local one stop shopping for our customers. And we plan to keep those new products as we move forward. Kevin Ward: Unfortunately, COVID has put a hold on social events and the entertainment side of the business. We’ve had to cancel our annual strawberry pancake breakfast, mini putt, wagon rides and more. Hopefully, we will be able to bring those back soon. Along with adding new products, I understand that COVID has also streamed lined your U-Pick business. Can you expand? Krista Ward: On a positive note, COVID did make our U-Pick process super efficient. Rather than weighing containers of U-Pick fruit, we now sell different container sizes that people can fill up with fruit. You pre-pay for the containers, and then head to the field to pick the berries. Once you have filled your containers, you can hop in your car and leave. This really cuts back on line ups, and we will keep this process, along with curb-side pick up, well beyond the pandemic. Thanks to your on-site free-range chickens, your eggs are truly farm fresh. Can you tell us more about them? Krista Ward: Our chickens are a big hit! We have over 100 of them and our customers just love visiting with them. Since the chicken coops and houses are located next to the market, the hens just come and go as they please. We collect the eggs daily to sell in the market, or use them in the bakery. The chickens replaced our farm animal petting zoo, which we had to remove because of COVID. GoodLife | Georgian Bay Summer 2021

How are this year’s crops shaping up so far? Krista Ward: It looks really good out there. Everything is really growing well this year. Kevin Ward: We are very fortunate because we can irrigate, and we have literally been irrigating 24/7 to make up for the lack of rain. Featuring over 600 pumpkins, your pumpkin pyramid and lighting ceremony has been a beloved local attraction for almost 30 years. Do you think it will go ahead this year? Kevin Ward: In normal years, it’s the highlight of our season. So, if the numbers stay low and we avoid a fourth wave — it’s definitely going up! We have planted all of the pumpkins, but I guess we will just have to wait and see how things are in the fall. Krista Ward: If we are able to go ahead with the pyramid, it probably won’t feature our usual Pumpkinland activities, which include wagon rides, a corn maze, games, mini putt, a pumpkin hunt, a play area and animals. This year, we mostly likely offer pick-your-own pumpkins and the corn maze. Farming isn’t an easy business. What’s the secret to your success? Krista Ward: Perseverance is a definite must! We never quit. And if something doesn’t work, we change it up. Kevin Ward: Introducing new crops and new products is key. We keep the favourites, but we are always on the look out for something different that will draw people to the farm. Any interesting future plans you’d like to share? Krista Ward: We have planted a few different types of berries which are really high in nutritional value. These super fruits include: goji berries, Saskatoon berries, sea buckthorn berries, elderberries, and haskap berries — so we are just trying to branch out and try a few new things. Kevin Ward: They are still maturing, so they won’t be ready for a few years, but we are pretty excited about these new crops. It’s fun to branch out a bit and try new products. ine collectors and enthusiasts alike don’t need to set foot in Chile to understand that this South American country has entered the ranks of ‘First-Growth’ wine nations. For at least two decades, interest has been piqued by both the diversity and exceptional quality on offer. Home to a varied palate of grapes and wine styles, the further south you go in Chile, the cooler it becomes. Ambitious winemakers have been exploiting this and other terroir matters; high altitude wines are all the rage in Chile, and terroir has increasingly become enshrined in law. Familiar valleys and sub-regions are officially divided into three key zones: Costa, Entre Cordilleras, and the Andes. No longer is Chile merely the land of fruit-forward, varietal expressions – regional differences and sitespecificity are now king.

Typically, Chilean wines are known by many around the world to be exceptional value-driven wines known to wow consumers with their qualityto-price-ratio. It’s not unheard of to hear one raving about a Chilean wine that they purchased for $20-$25 and have them compare it to likes of a $45-$50 bottle of Bordeaux or a mid-ranged Italian super Tuscan. In fact, the country seems to be quite famous for this, no longer considered to be the wine world’s best kept secret. But as good as those wines may be, there’s an entire ‘next level’ of quality wine being made to tempt the curious imbiber, so long as you’re willing to reach further into your wallet. Top-level Chilean wine – now priced very ambitiously – has become world-class. Growers across the nation have been refining their red and white offerings, getting better in leaps and bounds. At the turn of the millennium, there was a tendency to provide maximum impact with ripeness, concentration, and levels of oak. However, there has been a dramatic paradigm shift in recent times, with winemakers favouring elegance and restraint, in addition to the charms of perfectly ripe and expressive Chilean fruit.

COMPARED WITH THE GREATS OF BORDEAUX, VIÑEDO CHADWICK MAY HAVE A BRIEF HISTORY, BUT IT’S BEEN A REMARKABLE ONE.

The pivotal moment for Chilean wine came during a 2004 tasting in Berlin that was conducted by Steven Spurrier, creator of the globally famed 1976 Judgment of Paris. Two wines from Chile were voted in first and second place ahead of some of the most heralded wines from France and Italy, including Château Latour and Lafite from Bordeaux, and Sassicaia from Tuscany. And just like California after that Judgment of Paris tasting, the word was out, and Chile’s reputation was sealed. And since that day, the quality of Chilean wine has gotten better and better. This Chilean wine new renaissance can be largely credited to the uniting of two of wine’s royal families. In the early 1990s, Chile was becoming known for its mass-produced, affordable wines, but Éduardo Chadwick, whose Viñedos Familia Chadwick owns the Errázuriz winery – and controls additional portfolios, including Arboleda and Caliterra – knew that the country could produce top quality wines. In 1991, Chadwick teamed up with California’s Robert Mondavi to make a world-class wine in Chile. The result was Seña, which means “sign,” as it was to be a sign of Chile’s ability to make fine wine. Crafted using grapes grown just 90 kilometres north of Santiago in the Aconcagua Valley, it would become Chile’s first icon wine and its current vintage, from the 2018 growing season, is arguably its best ever. Priced at $200 a bottle in On-

tario, Seña is made from five Bordeaux varieties and delivers beautifully defined fruit, balanced acidity, and fine-grained tannins. It will surely have a long life in the cellar. Chadwick and Mondavi aspired to produce a fresh, balanced wine unlike the riper, fruitier wines from Chile’s generally warm growing conditions. (Since 2005 – after the passing of Robert Mondavi in 2004 – Éduardo Chadwick is the sole proprietor of the Seña brand.) The 2001 vintage of Seña ranked second at that Berlin tasting in 2004. It was beaten only by Chadwick’s other icon wine, Viñedo Chadwick. Compared with the greats of Bordeaux, Viñedo Chadwick may have a brief history, but it’s been a remarkable one. As the comparative tastings and independent assessments have shown, it is a wine of high and consistent quality that has shone a bright light on the quality potential of Chile, and the wonders of cabernet from Puente Alto in the Maipo Valley. Any list of Chile’s most lauded and expensive bottles cannot possibly omit Viñedo Chadwick. At about $450 in Ontario, Viñedo Chadwick is quite different from Seña. This is almost purely cabernet sauvignon (the 2018 vintage has three percent petit verdot) from the Maipo Valley, the source of Chile’s best cabernet sauvignons – an area that’s warmer than where the grapes for Seña were grown – and 2018 was a perfect year there, too. This vintage of Viñedo Chadwick is textbook cabernet, a wine that presents itself as a benchmark. Technically impeccable, it’s a delight to drink, with elegant and well-structured fruit that has depth and breadth, finely calibrated acidity, and harmony all the way through. Backed by a long list of highly influential critics’ scores to prove it, the best Chilean icon wines are now world-beaters and quintessential South American collector’s items, now often distinctive and in a league of their own. Seña and Viñedo Chadwick are a pair of magnificent wines, each distinctly different from the other. What unites them, apart from their coming from the same stable, is their quality, year after year. And in the 2018 vintage, that quality has been enhanced by perfect growing conditions that have resulted in exquisite wines. GoodLife | Georgian Bay Summer 2021

Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. 3. In medium bowl, combine strawberries, jam and cornstarch. Spread mixture evenly over crust. Top with remaining oat mixture pressing lightly. 4. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire rack for 30 minutes before cutting into bars. Refrigerate any leftover squares.

Royal London by Barbara Ramsay Orr

Calls! W

PORTOBELLO MARKET IS PACKED WITH CURIOSITIES AND BOROUGH MARKET IS A WONDERFUL PLACE FOR FRESH FOOD.

hile we may never be royal, and frankly most of us would not want the headaches and heartaches of being royal, the truth is we are endlessly fascinated by the pageantry of royalty. The history, the drama, the palaces and crown jewels never lose their allure. So, when the chance comes to travel abroad safely once more, London has a backlog of noble adventures available for visitors with an interest in the pomp and circumstance of British royal life.

ROYAL LONDON Like me, you may have spent several pandemic hours lost in the intrigue of the television series, The Crown. If so, London has new tours that will broaden your knowledge of the locations, the characters and the untold secrets of the royal family. There are walking tours or a combination of walking and driving tours. You can lunch in the same restaurant where Diana had that chilly encounter with Camilla, or view Clarence House and Lord Mountbatten’s London home. If you are more adventuresome, set out on a self-

guided royal walking tour, beginning at Buckingham Palace, ground zero for affairs of a noble nature. The palace is open to visitors for the summer months, but visits must be booked in advance. Just around the corner is Cleave, at No. 1 Buckingham Place, the bespoke jewellery store which specializes in state regalia and which made Meghan Markle’s diamond engagement ring. For real royal style, check out Lock & Co Hatters on St. James Street, the oldest hatmaker’s shop in the world, to find a great chapeau or a unique fascinator to take home, or just to ogle. Their hats have graced royal heads for generations, as well as the heads of commoners like Winston Churchill, Oscar Wilde and Jaqueline Onassis. Visit Grieves & Hawkes at No. 1 Saville Row to see what the gentlemen are wearing these days or to order a bespoke suit. How about a romantic picnic in St. James Park, with a wicker hamper filled with lobster rolls, beef wellington shooters, Eton Mess, English cheeses and a bottle of sparkling wine? You can have the al fresco repast delivered to you or pick up your hamper at the Rubens Hotel ahead of time. Then, with the palace and the garGoodLife | Georgian Bay Summer 2021

dens for scenery, you can while away an afternoon of aristocratic leisure. After your picnic, you may be in the mood for some royal fashion. Kensington Palace will feature Royal Style in the Making, opening June 3. It will showcase the wedding dress of Diana, Princess of Wales, on show for the first time in 25 years, in addition to a rare surviving toile from the 1937 coronation gown of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. The temporary exhibition, housed in the newly redone Orangery will explore the relationship between fashion designer and royal client. Fans of Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies can immerse themselves in Tudor England at the Hampton Court Palace exhibition running this summer, “Gold and Glory: Henry V111 and The French King.” The exhibition will feature works of art, gold artifacts, weapons, manuscripts and clothing from the Field of Cloth of Gold, Henry VIII’s legendary encounter with his rival, the King of France. The show is displayed in the first floor apartments of Hampton Court, once used by Cardinal Wolsey. While the large department stores, like Harrods, are a big draw, try shopping at the outdoor markets. Portobello Road Market is packed with curiosities, and Borough Market is a wonderful place for fresh food, and dozens of great little places to eat. Neal’s Yard is here, where you can sample some of the finest artisanal cheeses from across the kingdom. You might as well sleep like a royal while you are touring London’s imperial places. The Guardsman Buckingham Gate is a new boutique hotel that brags of being neighbours with Buckingham Palace, a six-minute walk away. With an entrance just off Buckingham Gate in St. James, the five star hotel has the feel of a private club. If you want to hang out like an aristocratic neighbour, consider booking one of the private residences where you can settle in with a sitting room, terrace and kitchenette. The Guardsman is within easy walking distance of Green Park, Horse Guards Parade, Clarence House and Whitehall as well as Westminster Abbey. There are two tube stations nearby. (I haven’t stayed at The Guardsman, as it opened during the pandemic. but the guest reviews are excellent.)

EXPAND YOUR ROYAL CIRCLE If you want to stay on the careful side, choose a 50

hotel outside the crowded busy centre of London. The Kew Gardens Hotel, one of my London favourites, is charming, with small but immaculate rooms, an excellent breakfast and a welcoming pub that features live music on some evenings. It has an engaging English comfort, with the added benefit of being a short walk from the famous Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. You can enjoy a tour of the gardens or visit Kew Palace, home of George II and Queen Charlotte and admire the views from the Great Pagoda. Visitors can tour the Royal Kitchens to learn about Georgian cuisine or visit the kitchen gardens that supplied most of the fresh ingredients for the royal feasts. Kew feels like a village, even though it is so close to the city. It is home to the National Archives, where you can arrange to research your family tree by trawling through their 1000 years of records. It also holds a copy of the Doomsday Book, Guy Fawkes’ confession and Henry VIII’s letter of abdication. There’s a Michelin starred restaurant, The Glasshouse, just down the street from the Kew Gardens Hotel, and you can walk to the train station. A 30-minute ride takes you into the heart of

Paddington’s London, photo: Barbara Ramsay Orr

London. And Richmond, so upscale and beautiful, is in easy reach. Sunday roast in one of the pubs along the Thames in Richmond or an elegant lunch at The Ivy is a noble way to spend a summer afternoon. The Lodge Hotel on Upper Richmond in Putney is another good choice, and is also close to good dining, with a train station close by for quick access to the city. At Putney Bridge, you can catch the Thames Clipper, a commuter ferry boat that will take you right down the Thames to the Tower of London. You can enjoy a glass of wine while you sail and along the way, you’ll see many of the important buildings of the city. If now seems too soon to venture to England, most of these royal indulgences will still be there when you are ready to travel, and next summer will be very special; it’s the Platinum anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years on the throne. Special events and celebrations have been planned all across the country to celebrate her reign. Whether it is now or next summer, dust off your bowler hat and shine up the tiara – London’s regal best is waiting for you! !
