Dear Gonzaga Football Fans,
Welcome to Eye Street! Today’s game is a special one, as we continue our WCAC schedule, hold our fall class reunions, and conduct an important and meaningful dedication ceremony. Mindful of all these valued events, I extend a warm welcome to all of our current families and alumni. In particular, we welcome the members of the football team who captured the first win on Buchanan Field in 1975, as well as the the many generous alumni from the Class of 1985 who helped make today’s ceremony possible.
At half time of today’s game, Gonzaga will officially dedicate the Joe Reyda ‘85 Stadium – naming Gonzaga’s stadium in honor of our longtime former Athletic Director, Joe Reyda ’85, a true Gonzaga man and a forceful champion for Gonzaga and our athletic program.
A man of deep faith and devotion to his family, Joe was committed to success on the field, but also to each student’s academic, spiritual, and personal growth as well. In recognition of his loyalty to Gonzaga, his classmates, friends and family created the Joseph Reyda ‘85 Endowed Fund to support tuition assistance for dersrving families and excellence in athletics on Eye Street. This stadium is being dedicated today on the occasion of his class’s 40th reunion. So, please join me in honoring and remembering Joe’s legacy today.
Thank you to Todd Stone ’90 and Andrew Deerin ‘95 for their indespensable contributions to today’s dedication ceremony. And on behalf of our Headmaster, Mr. Tom Every, our Athletic Director Mr. Terry Kernan ‘08, and everyone on Eye Street, I express to all of those participating in Gonzaga’s football program this year my best wish for continued success as we progress toward the completion of this season’s schedule and head toward the playoffs! Please know your hard work and dedication are both deeply respected and appreciated.
Finally, I continue to pray that the spirit of St. Aloysius Gonzaga may inspire each and every student-athlete to do his best, to give his best, both on and off of the field, this fall and throughout the year. Go Eagles!
Sincerely,

Fr. Joseph E. Lingan, SJ ‘75 President
