QUESTION AND ANSWER
1. WHAT ROLE DO GOLF COMPETITIONS PLAY IN CLUB CULTURE AT ROTHERHAM?
Golf competitions are a huge part of what we do. We’ve got competitions happening mostly on Saturdays and Sundays, all organised through the pro shop and the calendar is packed with weekly and monthly events, from club championships to 36-hole medals. We’ve also got plenty for the ladies and juniors. Open days are a big deal too – we run seven of them a year. For example, the Seniors Open next week has 180 players signed up already.
2. HOW HAS GOLF GENIUS BEEN USED TO IMPROVE COMPETITIONS AT THE CLUB?
We started using Golf Genius Tournament Management to organise and run our competitions in a much easier way. I’d used it at another club before, and it was a hit there too. We started small, using it for open days, and got great feedback, and have since looked to use it across other major club events.
Golf Genius has really simplified planning and running competitions at the club. Golfers find it super easy to sign in, enter scores, and check the leaderboards. There’s a terminal where players can check-in for a competition and input their scores right after their round too, which has been quick and hassle-free.
3. HOW HAS GOLF GENIUS HELPED YOU WITH COMPETITION MANAGEMENT?
It’s made setting up competitions so much easier. One feature I love is the cloning process—you can just copy a previous event, make a few tweaks, and you’re ready to go. With our old software, things would randomly change, and you wouldn’t even realise until the day of the event—or worse, the day after! Now, with Golf Genius, we’ve got full control. Everything is checked, locked in, and runs smoothly. Plus, I can manage competitions remotely, which is a game-changer. Whether I’m at the club or working from home, it’s all at my fingertips.
4. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER CLUBS CONSIDERING THE SWITCH?
For any club managers out there considering Golf Genius, my advice is to go for it, but take your time with the transition. Test it out, address any concerns, and don’t rush. It’s a bit of a process to get everyone on board, but the support from Golf Genius makes it achievable.

It’s easy. On the course, I just mark the card, then when we come in, I go to the terminal in the clubhouse to put my scores in—it’s straightforward and works perfectly for me.
