GoldREView / Survivor Special Edition 2014

As the name implies, Corvettes that have never been restored have ‘survived’ intentional or unintentional loss of original markings, paint or components. Corvettes remaining over 50% unrestored or unmodified may qualify for a SURVIVOR® award if they remain in a condition that would serve well as a historic guide for others who want to restore a Corvette of that vintage and type. This award is designed to recognize those Corvettes that are “Worn in, but not worn out.” A SURVIVOR® Corvette is significantly unrestored, unrepaired, and unmodified so as to be useful as a historic reference. It is a Corvette that in the best interest of research should not be restored or improved. Again as with Certification, the cars are judged against a factory standard and not against one another. The Corvette must complete a 10 mile road test under their own power. Since the advent of this award, there is now a reason for further preservation of Corvettes whose histories and character may have otherwise been lost. SURVIVOR® judging is fun and the SURVIVOR® Corvettes become a member of an elite group of historically significant cars. SURVIVOR® Corvettes are the Corvettes that judges and restorers seek out to study.

INELIGIBILITY The practice of replacing original manufacturer’s trim or VIN tags is inconsistent with Bloomington Gold’s philosophy, not to mention being illegal in many states. Any Corvette determined to have a nonauthentic manufacturer’s trim or VIN tag will be ineligible for any level of Bloomington Gold Certification. Furthermore, any owner who over time enters more than a single Corvette with replacement trim or VIN tags will be permanently excused from all future Bloomington Gold judging events. Regardless of how a Corvette scores in other sections, a Corvette deemed to have any of the following significant deviations will not be recognized as a Survivor®:

• Engine Numbers are determined to be Non-OEM. • Trim/Paint codes do not match the presentation. • Significant deviation in the originality of either body paint or fiberglass.

KEEPING IT STRAIGHT If the exterior is significantly repainted, the “SURVIVOR® Bronze Award” becomes the highest award attainable regardless of scores in the other three sections. If the engine stampings are not OEM, SURVIVOR®.

the Corvette cannot be a

If there is a deviation in typical factory production, owners have the responsibility of providing original Chevrolet documentation in support of the exception. There is no averaging of section percentages; each section must surpass the required percentage to attain a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Survivor® Award.
